Do you ever find yourself going about your business, all is well, and then suddenly a regretful memory or thought from the past creeps in, zapping the joy and rejoicing out of your soul, not to mention negate all the wonderful memories also experienced?

I sure as heaven do.

Yup, it can creep in out of no where, and before long, I find myself doing an extended visit down journeys traveled, ones marred in poor choices, or traumatic events. When I reflect on the time wasted looking back, I struggle not to do more of the self destructive pattern of regret.

Staring at the past, creates brand new toxicity filled with less of Him and more of self.

Ewwww@that.

But looky here…

“Do not call to mind the former things, Or ponder things of the past. Behold, I will do something new, Now it will spring forth; Will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, Rivers in the desert.
Isaiah 43:18‭-‬19 NASB

Aweeee renewing the breaths of fresh air He provides.

I will bless the Lord who has counseled me; Indeed, my mind instructs me in the night. I have set the Lord continually before me; Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad and my glory rejoices; My flesh also will dwell securely.
Psalms 16:7‭-‬9 NASB

Tears of freedom rush through my inner dwellings as I focus on His Love. Wow, He really is so very powerful.

The Lord is my strength and my shield; My heart trusts in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart exults, And with my song I shall thank Him.
Psalms 28:7 NASB

For you will go out with joy And be led forth with peace; The mountains and the hills will break forth into shouts of joy before you, And all the trees of the field will clap their hands.
Isaiah 55:12 NASB

strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience; joyously
Colossians 1:11 NASB

We are free to walk forward with Him, to be used by Him, to be honored and blessed in doing so.

Praise His Holy Name!!!

Can you think of anything more valuable and honorable than pleasing God?

How can we if we are preoccupied with where we have been or with who we were?

so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience; joyously giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in Light.
Colossians 1:10‭-‬12 NASB

To those out there struggling with stuff from the past, this isn't condemnation. Not at all, my heart goes out to you because I get it. I have no doubt, Paul, sitting quietly in his cell had seasons of torment as he lamented over his past. The King of Salvation is the hopeful remedy that delivers. He loves you so much.

Yet those who wait for the Lord Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary.

Thank you Brother for reading and for your rewarding kindness expressed. We have been thinking alike, huh? Yay, comforting to know others understand. I hope you are doing ok. As for the being on the receiving end of your positive feedback, it was received with gratitude. Thank you for what you said to me, can be said to you. Since I first started here, you let me know I was welcome at your table of Christian fellowship. May the breath of Yahweh bring your heart much peace and comfort. Hugs.

There was a time before I really gave in to Christ in midlife where
I was afraid to be happy because I always felt something or someone
would come and step on my joy. In time though as I came closer and
closer to coming to God's will rather than my own, those demons had
no chance because of my Jesus connection. Now I fear nothing because
the Lord has filled my life with everlasting joy. So if I were to counsel
someone, I would say never give up on God. Scripture says "Be happy,
always happy in the Lord." When we trust in Him, that scripture is
achievable.

Dusty, oh I am pleased to know that you have grown in His fellowship, and it inspires me and my journey with Him. Thank you. I still struggle with fretting someone will step on my joy, and I am learning it is super important to bounce back in His Love and Strength and not to come into agreement with them, quenching and grieving my own joy. In His company there is fullness of joy. I do know I will get there eventually. With Him their is sunshine in our souls.

Praise be to the KING!!!

I especially appreciated your input about counseling others towards Him. What a privilege and honor to be used by Him. It is so important that we gird our loins and guard our hearts, and stand strong in HIS victory that He gives us. Thanks again!!!
