2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
QUESTION: Is Timothy talking here about: just the Jewish scriptures, the 66 canonical books of the Holy Bible or all scriptures concerning the Abrahamic GOD? looking forward to feedback.

1. This was Paul addressing Timothy (the second letter to Timothy) , not Timothy talking about the Scriptures. Timothy had a great deal to learn, and we learn a great deal from these epistles.

2. In verse 15 Paul spoke about the Hebrew Scriptures (the Tanakh) calling them "the Holy Scriptures". We should avoid the term "Jewish scriptures" since they are correctly called the Hebrew Scriptures, and more particularly "the Holy Scriptures".

3. In verse 16 Paul said "all Scripture is given by inspiration of God" (God-breathed) which included the entire New Testament. Keeping in mind that Paul had written over 50% of the NT, and Peter had placed all of his epistles on the same level as the Hebrew Scriptures, Paul prophetically anticipated the whole Bible as a complete book (including the books which would come after 2 Timothy). Most commentators ignore this fact.

4. When we understand that Paul was both an apostle and a prophet, we should have no problem seeing that 2 Timothy 3:16,17 was A DEFINITIVE STATEMENT about the Bible and its supreme authority in all spiritual matters.

5. Every aspect of Christianity is governed by the Holy Bible -- doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction in righteousness. Therefore Christians do not need any additional books, and any books which have been added are NOT divinely inspired.

Thank-you for the correction I will reword the question, my mistake. I refer to the TaNaK as Jewish scriptures because they are the Holy Scriptures of the Jewish faith. I believe Hebrew was the language the Israelites spoke and wrote in. Your thoughts on Paul believing that his own writings would be scripture, because he was a prophet and had knowledge of the compilation of the Christian Bible are food for thought. So for clarity you believe that Paul in verse 15 is speaking of the Hebrew/Jewish scriptures that Jesus was taught from but in verse 16 he is prophetically speaking of the 66 canonical books of the Christian Holy Bible?

Welcome to CC, where we do typos and misspeak all day long. Most folks will know what you meant.:) Acts 28:23
Some say otherwise, but I'll stick with scripture. There are more translations of course, here is 3:
NLT
So a time was set, and on that day a large number of people came to Paul’s lodging. He explained and testified about the Kingdom of God and tried to persuade them about Jesus from the Scriptures. Using the law of Moses and the books of the prophets, he spoke to them from morning until evening.

English Standard Version
When they had appointed a day for him, they came to him at his lodging in greater numbers. From morning till evening he expounded to them, testifying to the kingdom of God and trying to convince them about Jesus both from the Law of Moses and from the Prophets.

Berean Study Bible
So they set a day to meet with Paul, and many people came to the place he was staying. He expounded to them from morning to evening, testifying about the kingdom of God and persuading them about Jesus from the Law of Moses and the Prophets.

Could you explain why you would say "the Abrahamic God?"

Do you profess to be a believer in and disciple of Jesus Christ?

Of course I can, In the world we live in today there are many gods; I however worship the GOD the Creator and I find every faith understands when I call him the Abrahamic GOD. If you are speaking to someone of the Christian, Muslim, Jewish or Hindu faith (or even some with no faith at all they know exactly who I am talking about when I say the Abrahamic GOD. I would never use his name in vain. Hopes this gives you insight to why I call him the Abrahamic GOD

Maybe the question could be better framed as, do you believe Jesus IS God in the flesh, the same as the God of Abraham?

Thank-you for the welcome, I am excited to be here, I love talking about GOD, Jesus the Christ and scripture. Unfortunately when I get excited I make typos lol. So for clarity you've chosen this scripture which clearly states Paul is using only the TaNaK specifically only the Torah (books of Moses) and Nevi'im (the prophets). Please I want no misunderstandings, I believe as I have been shown through the Holy Spirit of GOD that the New Testament is an account of the life and death of mankinds Savior Jesus of Nazareth whom is the Christ. I'm more searching for how others feel about the scriptures on a whole basis such as how many members on this sight feel the Jewish Holy scriptures are from GOD or do most members believe that when the Church compiled the 66 canonical books of the Christian bible anything they deemed non-canonical was now no longer scripture inspired by GOD. and to a softer degree does anyone feel that GOD's plan to make Ishmael a great nation gives any validity to the Quran.

So how did Paul know that there would be a Christian bible compilation in the future?

Paul was taught by direct Revelation from JESUS
Paul was writing books of the bible (almost half of the N.T.)
Paul knew the letters were being passed around between the churches <---these became the books of the bible

Where does it say that Paul knew...?

I believe Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah and the Son of GOD. I believe Jesus came from Heaven and had to live in the flesh, a sin free life among humans because Satan fell from grace and disobeyed GOD when he was with mankind. Unfortunately when Satan fell he took 100% of mankind with him which is why Jesus had to save mankind from Satan. I believe Jesus perfect sacrifice allowed mankind the choice of being cleansed of the sin that Satan brought into the world; sin that separated our breath of GOD (souls) from GOD. I believe The Holy Spirit is a gift of a piece of GOD himself as stated in
Job 33:4 The Spirit of God has made me,
and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.
The Spirit of GOD is the Creator; but every living person on earth or that has ever been on the earth has the breath of GOD or they would not have life.
Without Jesus saving us from the sin that Satan brought into the world we would never be able to be gifted with the Holy Spirit of GOD. I know that many Christian faiths feel comfortable, in the thoughts that Jesus is GOD and if that's what the Holy Spirit has shown them I would never say they were wrong. I however have always found the "Holy Trinity" to be ambiguous and that scripture is just as supportive of Jesus being his son his creation his joy; not himself. So I look at it like this... When a parent in the world of mankind has a child that is a joy and the very essence of their parents heart everyone says "he is his father through and through" They don't mean that he is actually his father, they are separate people but he certainly embodies his father. I hope I've answered your question and even further I hope what the Holy Spirit has shown me does not offend you or your faith.

Ummmmm.....He is also the God of Isaac and Jacob.......I would necessarily agree with the bolded.......the MUSLIM believe that their false god "Allah" is the god of Abraham and he is not.....and the Hindu faith has like 50,000 gods and they may view and tie the Abrahamic "god" to just another deity or view him from the Islamic perspective..........I have heard the old argument that ALLAH is just a generic name for GOD and I do no't buy this either....the Islamic god is NOT the God of Abraham, Isaac and or Jacob........

NOW.....if you want to distinguish IMO.....I would reference JESUS or Yeshua rather than the Abrahamic GOD....or say specifically the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.........

His hebrew name was Yeshua and I think his disciples most likely referred to him this way and they too were Jewish, but no I refer to him as Jesus of Nazareth the Christ. You have either misunderstood me or are using pantheistic incorrectly. "pantheism is worship that tolerates all gods" I love all mankind no matter their beliefs, their ethnicity, color, handicap or their gender or lack of gender. I worship one and only GOD. The Christian Holy bible was written in Hebrew by the Jewish faith, GOD the Creator (you might find this more palatable as you seem uncomfortable with the GOD of Abraham; and no I am not Jewish or Muslim) However Genesis in the Christian scripture states GOD picked Abraham to make a might nation through which the Savior of mankind would be born... GOD also said Ishmael would be a mighty nation in Genesis. One GOD not pantheistic in any way.
