Shall we write what we believe in stone now? I know by the Spirit and by faith that there ae those who are saved who have not been baptized in water, yet they are truly members of theBody of Christ. Remember a person is not guilty of any sin if not aware of having transgressed. I am not saying not being baptized in water is a sin...….

Different denominations will have slightly different answers, but in my interpretation of Scripture, water baptism is an external sign of an inner spiritual reality (being born again) that has already occurred. So, a person makes a public confession of their faith in Jesus by being baptized after they have already trusted Jesus and become born again spiritually.

Water baptism by full immersion is first of all putting repentance into action
it is also associated with confessing one's faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour
it spiritually represents death and burial of the old person, with coming up from the water representing resurrection to new life

Also required is baptism of the Holy Spirit in order to walk in the power of the Holy Spirit [God] to be an overcomer and to
burn up our chaff as we examine ourselves against the word of God - the work of the Holy Spirit cleanses us and helps to correct us
daily in our walk, and to become more Christlike ...
the Bible evidence of baptism of the Holy Spirit is praying in tongues [speaking in a new tongue] that is also referred to in
scripture as praying in the Holy Spirit.
Praying in tongues is powerful and wonderful and delivers many miracles and much healing for one's self and for others.

Same old false statement from some one who believes if you do not speak and pray in tongues you do not possess the Holy Spirit and are lost and Hell bound.

I use to go to a Pentecostal COGIC and they believed that you have to speak In tongues to have really gotten saved.

All the Pentecostal churches in my area also believe that, but I have learned from this forum that all do not.

Praying in a English tongue, one known, is praying in the Holy Spirit who lives in the believer.

Water baptism a ceremonial laws was used as a shadow to reflect the desire for a member of the Levi to joining the priesthood. Jesus from the tribe of Judah came after the manner of Melchedik to establish the priesthood of believers men and woman Jew and gentile
Its foundation is found in the Old testament just as the tongues doctrine and the sign that points to those who refuse the tongue of God "prophecy in any language" to include their own .

God with stammering lips mocks those who require a sign before they will beleive. they made Jesus into a circus seal... do a miracle and then we might believe . We refuse to walk by faith after the unseen eternal.

I for one would not buy into the those who must seek after signs and turn them into unknow wonderments. No such thing as a sign gift. Sign as a curse showing some do not believe prophecy as the one source of faith for hearing God . Yes .

Again and again and yet for all that they still refuse to believe prophecy ..

1 Corinthians 14:20-22 King James Version (KJV) Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men. In the law it is written, With men of other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord. Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe.

Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin; for he who has died is freed from sin.
Romans 6:3‭-‬7 NASB

This is a full disclosure of the purpose of baptism. You are buried with him in baptism. So that as Christ was raised from the dead we to may also be resurrected.

Yes, not a hint of water(H20) More of a quenching of the thirst for hearing the voice of our savior. . . the first experience of His love working in us. Our first love that we do return to when he does turn us so that we can repent the voice of faith the voice of comfort . The baptism of the unseen Holy Spirit. .

No - it is merely compliance or obedience.
If we say that we believe in the gospel and believe in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Master then as disciples we need to submit
to our Lord's teachings and to his commandments ... one of which is most definitely water baptism by full immersion.
Faith in scripture and belief in scripture - sola scriptura - means to read and do the word of God > to act on it.
Even Jesus himself underwent water baptism to demonstrate to us all the absolute importance of this sacrament.
Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John, to be baptized by him. Matthew 3:13 (ESV)

15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.
21 Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father,
and I will love him and manifest myself to him.
John 14: (ESV)
If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love.
John 15:10 (ESV)
47 “Can anyone withhold water for baptizing these people, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?”
48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to remain for some days.
Acts 10: (ESV)

I wish King James had translated the word rather than transliterated the word.
Baptism didn't change meanings. Again, 2 Timothy admonishes us not to wrangle about with words and meanings, so we must accept the common meaning of the word.
How do we know what it means? We use scripture. What was John the Baptist doing?
What did John do when he baptized Jesus?
What did Steven do when he baptized the Ethiopian?
What did the disciples do as they went forth baptizing in the name of Jesus?
In the scripture I posted from Romans chapter 6. He used the word buried which mean covered up. He was telling them what it was what it meant when he dunked them in the water and said in the name of the Lord Jesus. In American he was simply saing hey guys when I put you under the water and said in the name of the Lord Jesus, this is what it means, that you were buried with Christ and like Christ is resurrected you will also be. So start acting like it. Because the that old stuff is dead.

Titus 3: 5

Nt by works of righteousness which we have done but by HIS MERCY HE SAVE US by the WASHING (baptism) and RENEWAL (new birth) of the HOLY SPIRIT.

Water baptism is a work of righteousness we do in obedience to God. We ar not saved, washed or born again by this act.

We are born again by the washing or spiritual circumcision which is done by the hand of God.

Surely he did not mean any such thing! I don't know of pope beliefs! I do know that if a person is born again then their name is written in the book of life! I am baptized as in the day of Pentecost and it is a wonderful experience and for all God's children! The Holy Spirit is OUR comforter and promised of Jesus! However not all see this baptism and that's ok! Your walk belongs to you and is between you and the Father,I do not count you any less worthy of heaven than myself! Peace and love! 🌐🌐🌐

two baptisms are required to be a true worshipper ...
water baptism to put into action our repentance and acquiring a good conscience towards God
putting faith into action . death to the old person of sin > a new life with forgiveness under grace (remission of sins)
Holy Spirit baptism to have the power of God dwelling within to walk in the light, to overcome the flesh, to pray in a pure
spiritual God given languange (AKA praying in tongues) to grow and become more Christlike > the fruit of the Spirit.
Power and faith working together with signs following: miracles, healings, blessings galore. 💖
