I saw this and wanted to share it with you, what do you think?
--------------

Take time to rest!

“Then Jesus said, ‘Let’s go off by ourselves to a quiet place and rest a while.’” Mk 6:31 NLT

There’s an ancient legend that says the apostle John had a partridge he enjoyed feeding and tending. One day a hunter visited him and was astonished to see him playing with the bird. “I’m surprised to see you engaged in such amusement when there are great matters related to the gospel with which you could be busy.” John replied, “Do you always keep your bow bent?” The hunter said, “No, that would render it useless. I loosen the string unless I am hunting.” The apostle nodded and said, “Me too; I unbend my mind for the same reason.” Guess who said, “Let’s get away from the crowds for awhile and rest.” Jesus, the most-in-demand person who ever lived. Why did He say it? The Bible tells us, “There were so many people coming and going that Jesus and His apostles didn’t even have time to eat.” And Jesus is our example. One summer a pastor announced he wasn’t going to take a vacation, since the Devil never goes on vacation. Some of his congregation laughed; others thought he was very “spiritual.” One man went home, however, to see if Jesus had the same attitude. He found that in His three years of active ministry Jesus had ten periods when He got away from the crowds, in addition to His nightly rest and Sabbath day rest. Next Sunday he asked his pastor, “Are you following the Devil’s example or the Lord’s example?” Recreation is just that: re-creation, a time to renew your energy and nurture your most valuable relationships. So, take time to rest.

Gosh that sounds like me on busy day at school, no time for a break. I work in the library and sometimes i just dont have the time to even read a book cos its noisy and children are crowding me asking all sorts of questions.

Next week maybe I will climb a tree and hide in there or hide out in the reading tent. I will put up a sign that says do not disturb, the librarian is reading.

Recreation is re-creation... I guess procreation is professional creation.

Sorry shittim, I had to go for the obvious joke. But yes, taking a break and doing something you enjoy is important.

The reason the devil never rests is because his primary motivation is spite. Spite will never be able to rest until it feels it has won.

That brought back memories. I used to climb a tree and read there. Reading next to music were my two favorite things when younger. I’d climb a tree today but most likely would end up in a nursing home. Either by a fall or mental instability. Lol

Bible Principles

The principle here is very solid and very biblical: we need time to be refreshed and renewed.

We find this all through scripture, and it's something the lost world is perfectly acquainted with.
It's a well known principle.
It is just the way that humans operate.

However, the difference for Christians is in HOW we choose to do that refreshing and renewing.
I don't unwind by going to a bar and getting hammered on Saturday night.
:)

Personally, I find I need refreshing and renewal daily, through reading, prayer, and meditation.
These simple spiritual exercises are said, biblically, to bring us peace, renewal, cleansing, and many other things.
(If you think I'm difficult or argumentative in the debate forum, just imagine how much WORSE I might be without these things, lol.)

And as Jesus showed us, sometimes we just need to flat out take a break.
That's very biblical.

If you study the great preachers and missionaries of the faith, you'll find many of them doing these same things.
Even William Carey, the great missionary to India, would unwind each day with quiet walks in his garden. And he'd relax in the evening with a game of chess.
(The man was insanely driven and productive, and I'm not sure he ever slept... but even this highly driven man took time to relax.)

The Bible talks a lot about balance.
Rest is part of that.

God Bless.

Of course, but then, if we are in relationship the way we need to be it wouldn't be an option, Holy Spirit would never speak, go to "I send you to Happy Hour".
GG- it's kind of like meditation, I say "Kinda" because the meditation we are to practice is Biblical Meditation, so this word be a form as we are keeping our minds "stayed on Him", I know I wake up with a hymn going on in my head, a form of Biblical Meditation, or, keeping my mind "Stayed on Him".

Lanolin- can you keep praying in the Spirit while you have your hectic pace?
blessings.

Clarification - Meditation:

When I said I experience refreshing through daily reading, prayer, and meditation, I was using "meditation" in the biblical sense.

Biblically the word "meditation" is used to refer to our time reflecting on the things of God: God's word, God's principles, God's blessings, God's character, God's work in nature etc.

The principle of Biblical meditation is that we are to do more than just read the bible, or hear a sermon... we're to spend time thinking deeply about the things of God.
God doesn't prescribe which particular things, or in what amount... he just wants us to spend time really thinking about Him.

I'm sure all the Christians here understand this perfectly...
but we do have visitors that are new to the faith.

Yea i will try that my prayer times are on my way to work usually.
Otherwise will try and scope out a tree though a few of them were felled in the storm so might actually not be safe to climb.

Sure wouldn't want to hear of you falling out of a tree trying to get close to G-d! ha!
Good thing we get close to Him by seeking Him with out heart, soul and strength.
