My 19 year old son and his girlfriend are expecting a baby in about 3 months. Her family left the church we go to a few months before she found out she was pregnant.
Since then things have been awkward. We were really close with the girlfriend before that. They have dated for 3 years or so.
My son is not living in a manner that is suitable for him to be a dependable father, after many attempts to help him get himself together.
Before pregnancy, she was concerned about that, but, once the parents found out, she’s not been able to see him, etc. Her and I still communicate, not like before though. I found out she didn’t want me to have access to view her Walmart registry, no invite to the shower, and tells me that no one hug her family will be around the baby due to ‘sick’ season coming up.
I feel shut out, well, I am shut out.

This is a tough one. I would say first and always pray about the situation. Then just be nice to her and allow her to include you as she wants. She may be under pressure from her family to have nothing to do with your family and I imagine that she is also a teen and still needs a roof over her head.

While you may not have access to the child now as she gets older she may include you when she isn't under her parents roof anymore. That's why a said to be nice to her and available for her if she needs you now....

Thank you commenting. You are accurate. She’s going into 2nd year of college and yes, she definitely needs their support!

Ouch, this would upset me too. I agree with the advice already given. I will add you and your family to my prayers.

First of all, you have absolutely no need whatsoever to view her Walmart registry. Secondly, maybe SHE feels "shut out" since YOU are now treating HER differently than before. Your son and this girl were foolish not to use protection, so unfortunately for them, there is now a baby on the way. But who knows, maybe this baby will force your son to grow up and change his lifestyle.
