These particular co-workers that I am thinking of were rather clear in their views. I also know several other lovely people who are not believers but live highly ethical lives. I think we can be unintentionally prideful when we portray Christians as the only ones with a conscience. We are not better people. We are forgiven. We should be very humble. We can appear arrogant if we pretend to somehow be better than those around us. It does a disservice to the gospel. We should do what we can for better communication. We cannot reach out in love if we think ourselves better than other people. I myself am flawed. I am forgiven however I have not always listened. I am grateful that God is patient.
1 Cor 2:14 very plainly describes the difference in the natural man and the spiritual man. The natural man's heart cannot have his conscience pricked by God until he has been born again and had his heart of stone taken out and replaced with a soft fleshly one Ezk 36:26.

I am currently helping a homeless kid who has been on the streets where I live locally. There are over 7000 people on a Community Group, me included, who are trying to kit this guy out with a "Bear Grylls" kit bag, tent, sleeping bag and everything you would need to carry about, even on a mountain so he doesn't freeze to death when the cold weather comes. Complete strangers who do not proclaim to be "Christian" have donated their time, money, care and advice to this lad who is only 23, gently kind and grateful.

I contacted my own church (no reply) l have sent email and even got the word out through their own congregations to at least give us some advice where he can find a winter shelter or even any moral support. Not one of them has answered and I have even left voice mails for them. You would think out of courtesy they would say something. Yet since these messages have been left to help this poor kid who is now getting ill from the cold nights he has experienced, nothing, nada, zilch help in the way of charity from these places. No one expects them to give a home to them but surely some advice would be good or at least a reply?

Are they unaware that while they keep changing the signs outside the churches (since I left messages) saying anything from
"Jesus is our LORD" or "Only Jesus Saves" etc. Do they not know that CHARITY is the highest of all the good things that God sees as GOOD. I am actually embarrassed that over 7000 people are aware that the Churches locally pays only lip service to charity and nothing else. They cant even be bothered to answer (so rude). The non "Christian" people are doing what is necessary and the so called "Christian" people are doing nada. Reminds me of the story of the Good Samaritan. Which one loved his neighbour Jesus asked?

Also, I have asked all the hundreds of people who go to these churches, donate to the church roof fund (lets do whats important after all and stuff the homeless), to ask their local pastor this question.

"Why do you call Jesus Christ LORD yet you do not do what he says"?

The natural man will not do acts of kindness unless his acts of kindness will produce something for his own gain. These people, along with yourself, who are helping this homeless lad, are probably born again children of God. Many of God's children do not attend church services and do as much good things as they should, but they are still born again children of God and will spend eternity in heaven.
