Should the government take away my right to bear arms so only the "bad guys" have guns?

What a load of garbage.
I fully concur. If I was on the jury of the man on trial for offing some stud humping his wife in his own home and bed I would vote not guilty. As for the thug struggling to make ends meet getting shot in the process of breaking into an occupied dwelling, in Florida there is the Stand Your Ground law. You could shoot this thug that is threatening you and your family no questions asked.

I have my eyes on Florida. One of my brothers lives in Palm Bay. I may be joining him in a few short years, God willing.

The gun trade is a multi billion dollar business for criminals. Should the government take away my right to bear arms so only the "bad guys" have guns?

Isn't gun control, a myth perpetrated by the left anyway? Who else would have the hubris to suggest, anyone could ever believe, they can control the over 100 million guns, or more, in circulation at present? Not to mention, they make more every day.
I practice gun control every time I squeeze the trigger <---Marine style!!!

If they take away the guns and use resources to really crack down on guns then maybe when our kids kids grand kids will see a difference.
Your theory only has one problem, people have been killing each other since the beginning of time (think Cain and Abel). The only thing that has changed has been the tools that they have used. Ban or restrict guns and they'll go back to knives, swords, or the IED's that some terrorists like. Countries with strict gun control invariably see a significant rise in homicides with tools other than firearms.

We have too many other ways to kill each other. :/
Let's ban cars......they kill more people than guns.....or maybe greasy cheeseburgers......per capita....the U.S. is way down on the list of gun deaths....but h--- no we cannot have facts when it comes to an issue like GUNS!!!!

It's a well known fact that criminals get rich on prohibited protects a ban on guns will give gangs and smugglers a monopoly on guns. It's a stupid idea. Guns are illegal for the general public in Mexico and look a their murder and kidnapping rates. Banning guns is a very bad idea in the USA.

I've said this before and I'll say it again, I'd much rather be shot by a gun than butchered with a machete.

I'll list just a few events that wonderfully grace the history of gun control (so far):
- the Armenian holocaust
- the rise of Stalin
- the rise of Nazi Germany
- the Mao Zedong experience
- Cambodian killing fields...
Very bad things tend to arise when goverments take weapons from their people.
Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

like most scriptures or things written you read it all wrong i did not say it like that, funny most wars and corruption are created by misconception of narrow mindedness, I stated" or the thug struggling to make ends meet opens fire on someone trying to break into his home. I did not ask the question, I answered it in a manner it was relatable to all. I'm no thug either, things are different over here in little New Zealand but untill recent times with the massacre in Christchurch we could not comprehend the evilness of such acts, it was not till directly after our gun laws changed to prevent such things happening easier after all New Zealand was targeted only because the simple fact that type of artillery was legal to purchase here. I understand a man is man, but the old ways an eye for an eye a tooth for a tooth will never change nothing, therefore the human race will never change.
Sorry my feelings on this matter are not of yours, an without a doubt possibly if i was living in your country my opinion would be different.
My final word my fellow friends guns don't kill people, people kill people and for yoursake i hope none of yous are put in a position to have to pull the trigger and end ones life no matter the situations. From the depths of my heart I'm saddened the views of fellow followers of such a holy man could so easily take a life.

“The thug struggling to make ends meet opens fire on someone”

I’m not a thug nor do I struggle to make ends meet, but if you break into my home, I deem you a catastrophic threat to my family, and that means you’re dead. Bang! Bang! That’s called Darwinism.
Sorry same again finish the line breaking into his home.

Huh sorry I'm New here just noticed a post and figured it was open to reply. I've seen nothing but attacks on ones own emotions concerning a touchy subject matter.

Coffee pot

Matt.7. [1] Judge not, that ye be notjudged. [2] For with what judgment yejudge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. [3] And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

I'm very primitive when it comes to American law, I do understand why some laws are in place in your country, stand your ground law it just seems lots of your laws have so much room for corruption.

I apologize for my tone but you seemed to malign lawful gun owners as thugs rather than putting the onus on actual thugs.

My heart is close to yours. I yearn without ceasing for a world where love reigns supreme within every heart. Obviously that’s not reality on this side of Heaven.

It is important to be well prepared to overcome evil with love, but also with unmitigated force. You don’t have to fear evil by any means, but you have to respect it by preparing for it.

Remember, if lawful gun owners turn in their guns, only criminals will have them. That’s irrefutable.

That's probably true for any law regardless of the country.

While I believe in the Second Amendment about the right of citizens to bear arms I personally don't own a gun.

About that hypothetical situation where the husband goes home to find his wife in bed with another man, I really don't think that it would appropriate for the husband to shoot the man to death but I can understand his reasons for perhaps doing so. Legally, even in Florida with the Stand Your Ground law, that would probably be classified as second degree murder. I'm a novice in regards to American law too and I have been a citizen my entire life.
