We must be righteous to live with the Lord eternally, to be saved. Adam was righteous and could be obedient and righteous but Adam fell. Now, we can only be made righteous through Christ. Does this mean that our will must be to be righteous to be saved or can our will be to still sin and still be forgiven?

John the Baptist lived just before Christ, John told us to repent.

Paul tells us he has a will to do good in Romans 7:18----- For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.

Is it necessary that our desire be to not sin, for us to repent of our sin, to be saved?

As born again Christians our desire will be not to sin.
Even though we may sin at times, God's chastisement will see to it that we don't wander freely and willingly into full fledge sin, but rather will bring us to repentance and faith in Him. That's a growth process. We will never reach 'perfect' righteousness this side of eternity except He robes His own with His perfect righteousness imputed to our account.

That's a double question. I believe that the desire to avoid sin is the result of the Holy Spirit infilling you, not a precondition to it.

Don't you think that a person can choose to listen to the Holy Spirit or to ignore it?

If you fail to listen to the Holy Spirit one single time, do you become "unsaved"? No. Don't obfuscate the issue.

Do you breath? Do you think? Do you talk? Do you just be a human and do things?

If you answer yes to any of these questions, for any point giving in time, you have, do, will sin since you have been saved. Therefore, if you believe cannot go to heaven, get saved again and pray God strikes you dead before you say amne and have a thought!!!!!

Abraham, our father spiritually in faith, believed God and it was counted to him as righteousness.

He was not righteous in himself except for being counted so for having faith.

May we all have this faith of Abraham, for this is the righteousness that pleases our Father. God bless all in Yeshua…

We are not discussing the topic of not listening to the Holy Spirit, we are speaking of not listening to the Holy Spirit in answer to only one prompting, that is the prompting of the Holy Spirit to repent.

We know it is based on our faith, and not our deeds that our salvation is based on. When we are saved through Christ we are made righteous, we are not righteous through our own efforts.

However, isn't there steps we are asked to take? After we are cleansed we are to face our sin and ask forgiveness for it. Even in the Holy Prayer the Christ gave us it tells us to ask forgiveness. Can we do this without repentance is the question.

If you/ general you are saved are not your past, present, and future sins forgive... Are we not sanctified, being sanctified, and will be fully sanctified when Messiah returns? (all by Grace)?

Faith which gives us righteousness in the sight of the Fasther, is dead without works. As Jesus, Yeshua, teaches in the prayer He gave us, they will be done. We whould ask to be graced to always walk in the Father-s will, and to do theFather-s works designed for this age.

Faith without works is deadd; it is no longer righteousness, but dead. Of course this is part of what you have already so graciously shared with all.........now for them to hear Jesus through your right words, for they come from Him..

This answer seems completely right and in line with all scripture. Thank you.

Salvation is when we are placed into the body of Christ as a functioning member. This process initiated by the Holy Spirit, also imparts a new nature, when one is referred to as a "babe". From this point we grow, through obedience to the word, this growth is referred to as "fruit". If the tree is diseased, withered or not bearing fruit, through slothfulness or willful sin without repentance, then we cannot be a vessel that the Lord can use. 2Timothy 2: 19-21. We are saved by grace through faith, but faith can be made shipwrecked through sin, disobedience or inactivity towards righteousness, then James 2: 20 and verse 26. may come into play.

You had not specified that in your previous post, and I don't see anything hinting at it.
John the baptizer called people to repent. Jesus called people to repent and believe. Peter and the apostles called people to repent and believe. Repentance is part of the gospel; someone who does not recognize their need to repent does not recognize their need to be saved.

Jesus paid for all of the sins of those he died for and all that he died for will go to heaven. If you are one of those that he died for, you will still go to heaven, even if you do not repent. After you have been born again, you are born UNTO good works and have a new heart that can be pricked by God and then you feel guilt and repent, not in order to keep your eternal salvation, but in order to regain your fellowship with God. When we repent and God forgives us, the scriptures refer to that forgiveness as a salvation (deliverance) that is not eternal. We must rightly divide the salvation (deliverance) scriptures.

Just highlighting your statement for all to see. I don't agree, but I'm not going to get into it beyond that.

That is because you know that those he died for on the cross were forgiven for all of their sins, washed as whit as snow, and God looks upon them as holy and without blame.

Those who recognize their need to repent are already delivered eternally but recognize their need to be delivered while living here in this world to regain their fellowship with their God. In Jesus's days here on earth he and the Apostles were calling children of God to repent because the "Kingdom of heaven" (Christ's church) was at hand. Matt 16:28, Verly I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.
