Does anyone have any suggestions of some good earplugs I could purchase to block out noise whilst sleeping. They need to be comfortable enough to wear all night. Or if there are any other things that can be done to block out noise. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks :)

I have used a lot of ear plugs and such working in industrial settings.

How about building up a relationship with the owners, such as sending cards or something?
Something that reminds them you are there and you are a human?

I use two fans on both sides of my bed to block out noise at night. It works very well to block the noise of my neighbor's loud TV. :)

These saved my sanity big time. They take an impression of your ear to get a custom fit. It is a silicone ear plug that fits perfectly. Musicians use these with slits to protect their hearing while performing. These cost more than regular ones but for something you can wear every night and wash, these are worth it. I could not sleep as I have very acute hearing.

I like the ones that you squish and then put in your ear, and they expand. They’re super comfortable, and cheap for a bag if I remember correctly.

Yup, it’s only like $5 for a bag.

Hi laughingheart,
Thanks for your reply. Just wondering how these plugs block out noise if you dont have to remove them if you have a conversation with someone. Wouldn't they be letting in the noise and are they comfortable to sleep with on all night. Thanks

I don't have them in during the day. Mine don't have slits in them so it is quiet. Musicians have the ones with slits so that they can hear the music but it is not deafening. Sorry if I messed up the description. Blush. They are fitted to you so it is easier to sleep and they don't pop out. I find they stop the noise because there are no gaps. Yes you would need to remove the standard ones if you want to have a conversation. Thanks for giving me a chance to clarify.

Ok thanks. I am writing from Australia and am wanting to block out some very loud birds that are nesting nearby that I cannot remove. I am hoping to find something that can block out their noise.

Are the birds maggies or kookas? WA has lots of lovely but noisy wildlife! We've got huge bats up here where I am, and they chitter away like mad in the trees. They look like big, black ghosts flying around the city at night *shudder*
Rubes, you can buy the yellow squishy ear plugs from any chemist in WA, can't remember the brand name. They always work well for me. I got some not long ago down in SA cos I was travelling for work, and you get about 4 for about $4 or $5.00 (may be less at Big W, Cheap as Chips or the Reject Shop). I used to wear these when I had to sleep after night shift, and I am a notoriously bad sleeper, and found they worked well.
I see WA is only 18oC tomorrow on the weather - very cool for this time of year!

No they are the willy wagtails. They have become a real nuisance in WA.
Yeah strange weather in WA, been cool for the past few days but warming up again.

What I do, both for sleeping and for singing onstage at church, is to get the foam earplugs that look like bullets - different brands, different colors, but they all make them out of the same foam in about the same shape - and cut them in half. That way I get the hearing protection but there is no earplug sticking out of my ears for people to see onstage/get mashed against the pillow. I also color the cut-off ends with a black sharpie marker so they are even less visible at church.

If you get ones with the wires or threads that means you dont lose the pair they will always be together.

I call those JVC marshmallow earbuds. They also play music if you connect them to your phone.

That cord would probably get tangled around you. Better to use the cut off foam earplugs for sleeping.
