One of my siblings has very strong views on this.
"Fake usernames should never be permitted! It is gutless! Lacking all courage. People need to suffer the consequences of what they say."

I had just hinted to him that I do that very thing. I'm a spineless fake! An incorrigible charlatan! A pretentious pontificator! A demonic depressive! A waffling wiily wonka , a hiding hedonist, a preachy prodigal, a fictional fantasiser, ......... the list goes on.
I'm so ashamed

I think it's better to not give out who we really are bc,internet stalking is rampant!
Hackers hack into accounts very easily today!
On the other hand, I agree with your sibling we should be held accountable!
THERE should be consequence for how folks slander and defame others spiritual credibility on here!
IMO!

I had anonymity on this site until I married a member. Now she knows everything about me that's worth knowing. Also, I always try to be open and honest in the forums, what you see here is very much who I really am outside of Christian Chat.

Data collection is the new norm. Google has some sort of tracker on 82% of web traffic.

Because usernames are more fun than your actual name?
Nobody calls me Lanolin offline, but its nice on here :)

If you dont want anonymity, go on facebook. But the discussions on facebook arent so interesting. Theres no time or scope for deep and meaningfuls on facebook... plus I like that threads are not all about me and what im doing but a way to connect with other people who want to talk about the same stuff.

Prezactly. Sometimes it's more fun. If my user name were "Isaac" I wouldn't have nearly as much fun.
