So this debate over the medical system there, how do you like it esp compared to the US set-up here? I didn't realize you are in Canada, is it very cold? Cold to me is under 50F.
It is raining here to day so quite mild, though it can be cold and rain a the same time ;) It is 45F or 7C. We instituted Celsius in the 70s apparently, but it has taken me many years to adapt, constantly having to convert back and forth, and now talking to Bob I speak mostly Fahrenheit again, though when I speak in Fahrenheit degrees to my daughter she tells me she has no idea what I am talking about :unsure::giggle::giggle::giggle: It rarely goes below minus 7 degrees C in the winter, which is 19 F... does that seem especially cold to you for winter weather? OH!!! Under 50F? My goodness. We do get some snow and I would like to say it does not last long, but over the past few years it has been getting colder and damper, which means more snow for longer periods in the winter. Even summer humidity is slowly increasing over the years here. Being coastal (west coast) the weather is generally moderate, and usually much more tolerable on either extreme than much of the rest of Canada :) Forty below in Alberta is a winter norm :censored:

I cannot imaging having to go to the hospital for a few days and ending up with a debt I would never be able to pay off in my lifetime. Our health care system that way, despite any draw backs, is great. There are problems but I think mostly it is with the approach to health care and what is allowed. By approach, I mean not enough emphasis is put on preventative care, and doctors seem largely in the pockets of multinational pharmaceutical companies who couldn't care less about people as long as the profits keep amassing. More alternative methods should be allowed and covered, but as in many other things, those with power and control do not wish to relinquish it and cede to newer and possibly better ways.

I see what kids today are into, the high tech gadgets they take for granted, and all the new toys out for Christmas season and think back to what my age group thought was "high tech". Calculators, electric typewriters, push button phones and Light Brite.

It would be hard to fathom that those clunky 8 track tapes & decks would eventually graduate to a tiny usb plug-in.
My dad had these large tapes stacked up everywhere around the place. I just went through a bunch of cassette tapes, having to toss the techno ones.

In a few days I will be two 32 1/2 year olds….. I'm sticking around since I started collecting SS in February this year. I love this stage of my life. Lots of the stress I used to have to deal with is gone. Daughters are grown one married with 5 children the other is living upstairs and will probably move to TN with us and start over there.

My biggest problem is I don't breathe as well as I used to and I'm over weight which is part of my breathing problems but not all of it as my parents were heavy smokers in the house and I breathed that for years as a kid...the joys of second hand smoke...

Still get around even if it is slow and have most all of my marbles, Tourist may question that at times. But can't really complain start Medicare this month and they suck out about 1/3 of my SS check along with the supplement ins. Our grandparents had it good they didn't have to pay anything....oh well, I guess that's how it goes for being a part of the Baby Boomer problem....lol

I do get tired of politicians saying these are entitlement programs when we have paid into this stuff all our lives. You bet I'm entitled I have paid my way for it....at least that's how this Blond feels about it.
In a few weeks I will be two 32 1/2 year olds too. You haven't lost any of your marbles but perhaps I may have lost a step or two. It's debatable.

This thread is for people who are 50 or over.
If its discovered you are pretending to be over 50 yule be excommunicated. Old is good on this thread.
Youth is heresy. Apostasy.
We will be sharing like minded hobbies. Such as lawn bowling, crochet, retirement plans, home repair ideas, after life plans, funeral plans, nursing home plans, your grandkids, and so on ......
Never thought I'd live to be 25, I'll be 64 in a couple weeks. God's got a way to get even with us all, it's called old age!!😯😁🤪

Lots of folks are saying this doesn't bode well for the crazy Dems in the 2020 election!! 😋

Stretching the cord so no one can here the conversation that was fun
One phone on the wall in the kitchen, the cord would stretch half across the entire house.
