There are not many Believers who are filled with the Baptism with the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in other Tongues today.

This feels more like a speaking in tounges thread than anything about being baptized with the Holy spirit.

Speaking speaking "in tounges" may show zero evidence of the Holy spirit being present in them or them having "been baptized".

I'd bet there are youtube videos to prove that much, while they simultaniously backflop down an isle and cure select individuals supposed "illness".

As children of God, if we are looking for "evidence" that one is our brother or sister we look to their words and actions and beliefs to see if the Holy spirit is leading them, (where as it will still be evidence opposed to proof because we do not see what God can see) not a gift which wasn't promised to all.

Not everyone who is blood bought, and born again speaks in tongues. Speaking in tongues has zero to do with being saved. Being baptized with the Holy Spirit is the act of the precious blood of Christ being applied to our hearts to cleanse us of our sins and make us worthy to be called sons of the Living God and heirs to the Promise.

Having the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit is the act of Sanctification when a carnal/young believer begins their journey with Christ as a spiritual/mature believer.

Now that you are saved, you should ask the Lord to baptize you with the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:4).

While it is certainly true the Holy Spirit came into your heart and life the moment of your Salvation, still, He now wishes to endure you with power from on high. Consequently, Jesus told all of His followers immediately before His Ascension, that they should "wait for the Promise of the Father" (Acts 1:4). He was speaking of being "Baptized with the Holy Spirit" (Acts 1:5).

You must understand that there is a great difference in being "born of the Spirit" than being " Baptized with the Spirit." They are two different works altogether.

To be "born of the Spirit" is that which took place at your conversion, as the Holy Spirit brought you to Christ and performed the work of regeneration within your heart and life. To be "Baptized with the Spirit" is in order that you may have Power with God (Acts 1:8). Every Believer should ask the Lord to fill them with the Holy Spirit, and expect to receive (Luke 11:13).

*IS IT NECESSARY TO SPEAK IN TONGUES? *

For Salvation, no, but if one wants the true New Testament experience, then one should want to speak with other Tongues exactly as the Bible says. Don’t make the mistake of seeking Tongues, we don’t seek Tongues, we seek the infilling of the Holy Spirit with Tongues being the initial physical evidence one has been filled.

*SEVEN STEPS TO RECEIVING THE INFILLING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT *

1. You must be Born-Again: There is only one requirement for one to be baptized with the Holy Spirit and that is to be Saved. No other requirements are needed. Salvation now prepares one for the Holy Spirit to come and live and work in a new and dynamic fashion.

2. You must decide that it is Scriptural: You must settle it in your spirit once and for all that this great Gift is for all Believers for all time. There must not be any doubt in your heart. Don’t let Satan fill your mind with all kinds of negative thoughts. Don’t let those who are not believers of the Spirit Baptism influence you negatively.

3. You must have Faith: Everything we receive from the Lord is always by Faith. We are to believe what He has promised in His Word, and He has most certainly promised the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:4, Joel 2:28-29, Isa. 28:11-12). Hebrews 11:6 says, “Without Faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a Rewarder of them who diligently seek Him.”

4. You must not fear: Don’t be afraid of opening yourself up to the spirit world, fearing that something of Satan will come upon you. Luke 11:11-13 says: “If a son ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your Heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them who ask Him?”

5. What to expect: You are to expect the Holy Spirit to put supernatural words (Tongues) into your spirit, and then for the Holy Spirit to move upon your vocal organs. The Lord will not force you to speak in Tongues. He will give the utterance, but we have to speak.

6. We must yield: By yielding I am meaning that in your heart you should say to the Lord, “I am asking You Lord to fill me with the Holy Spirit and by Faith I now receive.” We are not to beg, for the infilling of the Holy Spirit is a free Gift; neither are we to continually pray out loud in our own Tongue because one cannot speak in two languages at once.

7. Receive: You must understand that God has already given the Spirit and that it is a Gift and, consequently, the only thing one is to do respecting a Gift is to receive it. So you must say, “I am going to receive this Gift of God.”

So now if you haven’t received, then go through these steps and by Faith receive.

Oh, and this historic documentation of tongues ceasing is particularly important as St Iraneus documents them as still being in operation in the 100s AD, and also documents them as being known human languages.

”We speak wisdom among them that are perfect, terming those persons “perfect” who have received the Spirit of God, and who through the Spirit of God do speak in all languages, as he used Himself also to speak. In like manner we do also hear many brethren in the Church, who possess prophetic gifts, and who through the Spirit speak all kinds of languages, and bring to light for the general benefit the hidden things of men, and declare the mysteries of God,” –Irenaeus Against Heresies, Book V. Chapter 6. section 1.”

Merry Christmas to all.

I would offer. If a person would look to the foundation of the doctrine of tongues (Isaiah 28) It as a assumed need would seem to have to do with faithless mankind's inability to believe in a God not seen. This is because the Spirit must do the first work of giving ears to hear, and opening the eyes of one new heart to understand. Giving us a vision of faith as it is written .

So then those who desire as a need rather than believing all things written in the law and the prophets, they simply by their oral traditions of corrupted mankind called fathers, or kings refuse to hear the word of God. as it is written

It would seem that the Holy Spirit as a sign to us the help bring the gospel to those who follow after the oral traditions of men . in so much as they fall backward to show they are under the judgement of God, as those who do make the word of God to no effect through the oral traditions of the fathers. We can offer the gospel in a hope it will turn them so they can comfort themselves and walk by faith the unseen, looking ahead to our new incorruptible bodies ..

They demonstrate their kind of religion as out of sight out of mind. Like that of Cain, mocking God not seen with stammering lips. God mocks them with stammering lips and as promised in Joel baptizes all the nations as a kingdom of priest, men and women, Jew and Gentile . A sign against unbelieving mankind . The glory came, the shadow disappeared. The time of reformation came 2000 years ago.

Searching what, or what manner of time the
Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.1 Peter1:11

Is this not the same stuff they teach in the alpha course?
Sorry,i cant believe this teaching. I know I have received the Holy Spirit. How much more then to receive I should do. If you ask me for an gift. I have since I become a believer the gift to distinguish the Spirits.
And I would say that this teaching today is not from the Holy Spirit.
I met enough "infilled with the Holy Spirit" people who also shared a false gospel.

Your position is refuted by the events of Acts 10.

How does Acts 10 make the foundation of the tongues doctrine (Isaiah 28) without effect? Is falling backward the true foundation? If not what does that sign represent?

But the word of the Lord was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken. Isaiah 28: 13

Does precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; represent sola scriptura as that in which they refused to hear?

What does the metaphor fall back or backward used through the word of God to represent? Joy as in agreement or judgement as in no faith ?

It's quite interesting how you misconstrue the meaning of my statement. Here it is again...

Your position is refuted by the events of Acts 10.

I said nothing about the foundation of tongues, or about falling backward, or about a sign. I said your position. Your viewpoint, perspective, interpretation. The entirety of your argument.

Hallo Wolfie!

Actually, you experienced baptism in the Holy Spirit when you first believed (1 Cor. 12:13, I think). Every believer did. As you say, this is also called the gift of the Holy Spirit. We don't receive the gift more than once but we are all to be repeatedly filled with the Holy Spirit (Eph. 5:18). Filled on an ongoing basis (Greek present tense = continuous).

Thats rigtht my friend. But this means not that speaking in tongues is the proof that you are filled with the Holy Spirit.
