I wish that I were able to accept things as simply as my wife does. She finds our debates over Calvinism and the King James Bible and all the many other subjects that we banter about to be an exercise of frustration. For her it's as simple as Jesus, God manifested in the flesh born of a woman, lived died and was resurrected all for our benefit our salvation and our eternal life with him. Because that we should be thankful, way we should treat others the way we would like to be treated, and live our lives as peacefully and quietly as possible.

Complicated, man made, overthought doctrines lead us away from what matters:

"The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love." - Galatians 5:6

"what counts is the new creation." - Galatians 6:15

"For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, 18because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and receives human approval." - Romans 14:17-18

That's the only reason I indulge discussion about them. The church needs to be about the business of what really matters. Believing in God does not mean believing the only authorized and correct doctrines about Him. But that is what many in the church thinks is the believing that saves them. That is nothing more than misguided religious doctrinal zealotry.

i agree its good and simple. we should be busy with other things. i have to put some blame on us men we tend to get into arguments even more than women.

the simplicity that is in Christ

Absolutely!

and that should be the basis of our belief

there are far more who are not members and who just come here to read

we are not all the same but I certainly agree that your foundation had better be that simplicity

my wife sees the same too -- when people start talking about 'calvinism' and 'kjv' and 'gifts' and 'works' and 'sabbaths' etc etc they cease talking about Christ. i wish i was better at turning conversations back to Him

Wise lady indeed.
Are you sure your wife isn't related to my hubby? :giggle: He's of the same mind.
