Hi, I'm Denise. I'm new. 56 years old. No children. Divorced 16 years. Work for Crisis Center 211. Get to pray with people sometimes. LOVE those calls. I work a lot of hours from home. Grateful I don't have to go into the office. Still have my mom and dad. What a blessing. I have 3 dogs.. 2 are clowns. I have one blue and gold macaw. I'm in good health. Anything you want to know.. just ask. I'm an open book. Happy to listen to problems if you need to talk.
Welcome to CC, sister Denise. What a rare blessing to still have your parents with you. Here, It's just Jesus and Miss Amelia(cat) and I. When Jesus is all you got, He is all you need. I do go to Church, but my bestest friends are people like you, "out there" on CC:). In a spiritual kind of way, we are actually very close and our relationships are very real. They are eternal.:) Can hardly wait to meet you all face to face. We are one year closer to that glorious event. That is something worth getting excited about, don't you think?:)

Hi :)
People call about literally everything. I get calls about help with utilities, homelessness, food as well as depression, problems with children, problems with parents, problems with bullies at school, alcohol, drug addiction, grieving and loss, help getting dentures, ex husbands not paying child support, mental illness resource information, tenants with bug problems and the landlord won't do anything.. just really anything and everything. We help with passing out Thanksgiving dinners, Christmas dinners and toys for kids under 12 years of age.
Love my job.
What do you do?
Wow, you are what we can call a minister or servant. What a privilege for type of work you do.

I sit behind desk most of the day. Working as auditor/accounting clerk.

That's awesome! Conures are much better talkers than my blue and gold macaw. My macaw can say "hello" when the phone rings and can say "out!" when the dogs bark because she doesn't like the barking. And she screams "HOT!" while I'm cooking because she wants me to share whatever I'm cooking with her haha!
I love cats too. I had a Siamese for 18 years. I don't keep cats now because of the macaw. Young cats would not be able to resist trying to get at the bird. :p
Thank you so much for the welcome :)
Denise
P.S. Somebody gave my bird to me when she was still a baby bird. They named her Moses and later I discovered he was actually a she when she started laying eggs!!
Oh, my conures wouldn't talk! I identify myself with your macaw because I don't like barking dogs either. I love dogs, to the point of touching noses with them and letting them lick my face, but I hate the barking. :p:p:p

That would be great. I hope so. You sound like you must be new too? Or sort of new? Tell me about you :)
I'm still a bit new, yes, slowly coming out of that.
I just joined this month...... a couple of weeks ago, I believe.
Now I find it very hard to stay away!

I usually don't participate in online forums, but I felt the need to join in with fellow Christians because I've had my share of struggles and bad decision making, and it's my faith that has kept me in good spirits. So I thought, why not try something new! Plus, I love talking to people.

I also have a dog! She kind of reminds me of a pig the way her personality is!
She's very sweet though.

I look forward to seeing you on here and talking to you more!

If you did that to my Amelia, she would pierce your ears the fast way:)

Thank you for that genuinely warm post and kind greeting. I could feel the Holy Spirit reading about one year closer and we sure are. A friend of mine was telling me the other day that the UN has a plan for a one world government by 2030. That's only 11 years away! Hard to imagine 2030 is only 11 more years. Everything is coming together as foretold. Look forward to getting to know you.

I can't go to church. My boss doesn't want somebody to call and hear background noise of church.
Greetings Denise. Your boss should have the calls redirected to himself so that you can go to church. You can't be on call 24/7 365 days a year. If so, you too will find yourself in a crisis.

Well when I took this job it was with the understanding that I would work many "volunteer" hours as well as paid hours. I don't even want to tell you what they pay me.. but anyway it doesn't matter because I know that I know the Lord lead me to this job and this is where He wants me right now. I work from 4PM to 8AM Mon-Fri and then I work Friday 4Pm to Monday 8AM every weekend. So I literally work 7 days a week.. 365 days a year. I've worked here since 2011 but only 7 days a week for 3 years. In the last 3 years I haven't had one single day off. I have never called in sick or taken a vacation since 2011. But still.. all my bills are paid. I just bought a new sofa. The Lord provides for my needs and my wants. I'm in good health thank the Lord because they don't provide insurance. But you're right sometimes I feel like I'm about to have a crisis myself. But when I take a step back I realize how blessed I am. I work from home. I don't have to fight traffic. My boss is a sweet lady and she loves me .. she even says she loves me when we hang up. She never gets on to me about anything.. we get along great.
I asked about church years ago and she hired somebody to take the lines for 2 hours so I could go to church but that lady quit and there was nobody to do it anymore. We're not a big outfit. When I take the crisis lines there is only me answering.. nobody else taking calls.
But you know.. I mean.. I haven't pulled my hair out. The Lord's grace is sufficient for me and this is where I'm supposed to be. Tell you this though .. I MUST stay in the Word every day or I go down. I can miss a day of not reading the Bible but after that I start getting squishy haha like fruit going bad.
And maybe that's part of His plan too. I KNOW that I have to stay in the Word to be able to do this job working from home alone and work this many hours. I'm not complaining. I mean everybody has issues and stuff to deal with... this is just my stuff and it's good stuff most of the time.

Thank you! My job is interesting in that I never know what the next call will be about.
Love all your scriptures you share.
Here are the ones I share on my email signature
John 1:1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:14
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us

Revelation 19:13
And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

**STAY IN THE WORD**
God bless you!
Hello again Denise, wow, that's great :) Have you received any comments about them from the people who you've emailed? (I'm pretty sure that I can't create a signature line on my work email, but I could definitely do that on my personal email (y))

I started using the Scriptures that you see in my signature line here when I was a mod on a different Christian forum (to help our Christian members remember how we are supposed/commanded to act towards others .. as Christians .. because forums like that one are open for everyone/everywhere to see, and there hundreds to thousands sometimes, from all around the globe, looking in at everything that was written on that forum everyday, and I'm sure that they are doing them same thing here). I found that those verses were a good reminder for me too ;), so I decided to include them in my signature line here, as well.

Thank you for your wonderful admonishment above (to STAY IN THE WORD (y)(y)), as it is an important one for all Christians to follow .. e.g. Joshua 1:8; Psalm 1:1-3; Psalm 119:105; John 17:17; Romans 12:2; 2 Timothy 2:15, 3:16-17.

God bless you!

~Deut

Deuteronomy 11
18 You shall impress these words of mine on your heart and on your soul; and you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontals on your forehead.
19 You shall teach them to your sons, talking of them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road and when you lie down and when you rise up.
20 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates,
21 so that your days and the days of your sons may be multiplied on the land which the LORD swore to your fathers to give them, as long as the heavens remain above the earth.

Amen, my sister. I quite understand you. But hopefully someone will be hired who can be a relief for you. I know you are doing an important job. I may have to get your number so that even I can call you as well on those low days.

But I pray that God will work things out some how. Because things do need to improve.

God Bless You.

There is a Crisis 211 call center in every region of the US. All you have to do is call 211 and you'll get a counselor with a resource manual with all your regional resources. I'm in Tennessee and we're not a national call center.. just regional. But you can always PM me here and I will talk with you and pray for you gladly. We can talk more about that again if you like :) I'm happy to help in any way I can. What state are you in then?

David knew very well there are consequences of forgetting God's law.
