I been looking at the Genesis 19:8 (KJV) verse again, and I got some questions that need answering. Now the part that has got me confused is this section here, specifically this part here "and do ye to them as is good in your eyes". Now what does this mean? Because what was good in the eyes of the people of Sodom does not mean what they were doing was good.

So what did Lot mean? What do people understand of the meaning?
Gen 18:1 And the LORD appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day;
Gen 18:2 And he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground.

Gen 18:20 And the LORD said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous;
Gen 18:21 I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know.
Gen 18:22 And the men turned their faces from thence, and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stood yet before the LORD.

Gen 18:32 And he said, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak yet but this once: Peradventure ten shall be found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for ten's sake.
Gen 18:33 And the LORD went his way, as soon as he had left communing with Abraham: and Abraham returned unto his place.

God and 2 angels appeared in flesh to Abraham and the LORD talked to Abraham concerning Sodom and Gomorrah and the 2 angels went to Sodom and Gomorrah.

God would test the cities by the 2 men to see if there were any righteous there.

Gen 19:1 And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground;
Gen 19:2 And he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant's house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go on your ways. And they said, Nay; but we will abide in the street all night.
Gen 19:3 And he pressed upon them greatly; and they turned in unto him, and entered into his house; and he made them a feast, and did bake unleavened bread, and they did eat.

Gen 19:4 But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter:
Gen 19:5 And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them.
Gen 19:6 And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him,
Gen 19:7 And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly.
Gen 19:8 Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof.

The men of the city surrounded the house and told Lot to bring out the men so they may have sex with them which is referenced that they may know them like Adam knew Eve and they had intercourse.

Lot offered his 2 daughters that they may have sex with them but leave the men alone but the men insisted that the 2 men come out so they could have sex with them and not one person cried out let us not do this wicked deed but were in one accord with having sex with them.

There were no righteous in the cities then the 2 angels took Lot and his wife and 2 daughters out of the city and the LORD overthrew it.

all the men of the city of Sodom, young and old, circled the house, with violent intent.
why did they ask; why didn't they just take?

the sons of Belial also surrounded the house in Gibeah and again asked to be given the certain Levite in order to murder him.
why didn't they just take? why did they have to be given their prey?

It means rape, rape and more rape. Women had absolutely no value back in the day. Lot’s words justify my statement.
While I understand your statement.
I think it is important to remember that not even 10 righteous could be found be when Abraham pleaded for Sodom.

This tells me that the even women were unrighteous and wicked.

The ancient Middle East was a brutal place. And they are becoming that way again. God destroyed those towns because they were utterly wicked. Chucking your daughter out on the street to be gang-raped is a pretty good indicator of just how depraved things had become. And they didn't even want her! They wanted (what they thought) was the man instead. It's like LBGTQ culture on steroids.

It may have been common practice in that time. If anyone thinks this episode is bad read Judges Chapter 19 and 20. It's a similar event but with a more gruesome outcome.
The city of Ninevah was also wicked but they were spared because they repented and called on God for forgiveness.

Homosexuality and pride were the sins of Sodom...so far as I have read homosexuality is not rampant yet in the middle east.

Considering the penalty in that present day culture for this behaviour, in some places it is a capitol crime, I cannot see it being analogous to Sodom.

They where going to try to take them, But the angels stopped it Before they took them, BY smoting them with blindness.
And the other one, They where also going to take HIM, But the wise woman ,Found out what they wanted, And they gave him up to keep from fighting. They really CUT his head off and through it down to them, GOD bless as HE sees fit.

The men of Sodom went after strange flesh, Jude says. Maybe they knew they weren't human. Maybe they did not.

Providing for and protecting guests was considered a very important moral responsibility in the ancient world, one the that citizens of Sodom did not value. It could be he hoped they'd turn down his request. It's possible it would have been against their mores to take a fellow city-dwellers daughters in such a situation. But they were so wicked on this other point, he may have been offering them because he considered it more immoral to not protect the guests than his own family. Maybe he was so old the perverts at the front door wouldn't want him.

He was offering them as women who had not known a man, but several verses later, his daughters had husbands. So either he was lying about their being virgins to make them seem either more appealing or to get the interspecial gay rape mob to turn them down, or else they were betrothed and hadn't done the deed yet.

Good point. Most of those women must’ve moved to America since then. 😊

What happened to the other two daughters, then?

Genesis 19
30 And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters.

yes, but he was their target:

And the men of Gibeah rose against me, and beset the house round about upon me by night, and thought to have slain me: and my concubine have they forced, that she is dead.
(Judges 20:5)
does everyone think these cities brutalized & murdered every man who visited?
or was something about angels and '
a certain Levite' important to them?

Lot's wife wasn't destroyed with Sodom. she was preserved in salt for a sign.

but yes ((as i read it)) Abraham chose the number 10 for a reason when he spoke to God about saving the city.

Lot
his wife
two unmarried daughters
two married daughters
their two husbands his sons-in-law
two sons

1 + 1 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 10

If lot had two married daughters and two son-in-laws, then they apparently did not make the cut.

yup

And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, up, get you out of this place; for the Lord will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law.
(Genesis 19:14)
i reckon Abraham *hoped* all his relatives there were righteous, and as i understand it, he had 10 relatives in the city.

And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of this place: for we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the Lord; and the Lord hath sent us to destroy it. And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, up, get you out of this place; for the Lord will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law.
(Genesis 19:12-14)
the angels mention sons-in-law, sons and daughters. i think they knew who they were talking about. Lot had 2 sons, 2 sons-in-law, and 4 daughters. but he didn't go to his sons ((why?)) he only went to his sons-in-law ((where 2 of his daughters were)). he balks at what the angels tell him all throughout this account, from beginning to end.

so Lot's sons were not warned, and they were among the men who sieged his house ((v.4 says all the men from every quarter set themselves around it)) - as were his sons-in-law. so they were left; the angels took everyone who was in the house with Lot by the hand. God knew this; guess why 2 angels were sent?

i think this is why Lot's wife looked back. for her sons. because she loved them.

this is the way i understand this, anyway. i am aware that it's not what is commonly taught.
