One of my favorite theologians held 5 doctors degrees from high profile universities here and abroad, So you suppose he might include more detail in his teaching than any less studied?

But God placed teachers in the Church. You are teaching me right now. Why not go with the pros who have a lifetime of learning that squares with the Creeds?
I have been to Bible college. I took 4 teacher training classes. If I take two more classes I can get a certificate to be a sunday school Superintendent. They teach bible interpretation hermeneutics that is based on context. That is fine but now I am studying Hebrew so I can look at the individual letters to determine what a word means. Then I can look at context to verify what the study of Hebrew shows me. For example look at the first word in the Bible: Beginning. "In the beginning God created the Heaven and Earth". In the Hebrew the third letter the Aleph can have different meaning, one means Heaven & Earth. So context can help us in the study of the Hebrew. One understanding of the word Beginning is that the Son (Ben) of God was given as a grain offering so that Heaven and Earth can be reconciled or united.

IF you want to teach an adult or even pastor a church you need to be an elder and that means 40 years as a Christian. I did not get saved until I was in my 20's so I did not qualify until I was in my 60's. This could be why there is so much error in the church: "As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths." (Isaiah3:12)

Consider:

--outside of Rev (incl'g Rev10:7), the phrase "his [/thy/My] servants the prophets" is only used in the OT (26x OT; 4x Rev)

--when speaking of the NT ones, the phrase is usually [instead] "apostles and prophets" [in that order] (when speaking of the plurals like this ^ above)

--the phrase "the mystery of God" is used only once elsewhere in Colossians 2:2-3, where it says (and I think the nasb gives the proper sense also, see below) "of the mystery of God, which is Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and of knowledge"

or, [nasb] "of God's mystery, that is, Christ Himself, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge."

All that to say, I am not inclined to believe that Rev10:7 ['mystery of God'] is speaking of "our Rapture" event (THAT "mystery" item in particular), but more along the lines of what Acts 3:21 was saying, "whom indeed it behooves heaven to receive until the times of restoration of all things of which God spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets from the age." [the OT prophets and prophecies, and esp concerning the events leading UP TO and surrounding His Second Coming to the earth, FOR the promised and prophesied EARTHLY Millennial Kingdom (Jesus spoke of it MUCH in the Gospels!)]

Thanks for sharing. Your church makes others look pale in comparison. Most don't even have a statement of faith you can hold them accountable to.

God gave us teachers but don't rely on the good ones?
That misrepresents what I said. Gleaning from Bible teachers and relying on them excessively are two different approaches.

You're pretty good at rejecting the suggestion of a sensible, balanced approach to study. The Holy Spirit leads us into all truth.
Or did Jesus say "your bible teacher will lead you into all truth" ??

Does he speak audibly to you? He speaks to me through teachers whom I use to confirm if my beliefs are true or not.

I respect that and you must have a lot of knowledge and insight to impart.
But I don't think Bible college is the only way one can devote a lifetime to biblical studies.
All the training in the world doesn't make one impervious to human error.

The prophets usually came from outside the intellectual establishment of their day. To warn and inform the religious leadership.
IMO God uses all kinds.

In my opinion the problem is man's opinion.

The word of God will always explain the word of God.... always. I don't need to form an opinion on something because it is in the word of God.

The Spirit of God will never teach us something opposing the word of God. As soon as that happens you should turn away from whatever you are busy with.

And this is great. We need to build each other in this regard :)

To many times do we hear people tell us that the spirit told them xy and z but it is not in God's word... then we should ask ourselfs who's spirit and what spirit. This is why it is important to know and understand the Bible.

You're not even discussing the Bible!
You're simply playing a game of intellectual snobbery and not even on your own behalf! I have no idea what credentials you have, or think you have. Nor do you know anything about my background. We come here for Bible discussion don't we?
If we use different approaches that's fine. I'm just not allowing you to disregard scripture in favour of extra-biblical sources. You don't like that.

Perhaps you would prefer a high brow section and a section for laypeople.

Jesus said "my sheep hear my voice, another they will not hear"

When he speaks direct to us we know it is him. But he is so awesome he confirms that word. I live in that dynamic. If I stray, not so much, the relationship is hindered and much separated.

Worship has a drawing to God and God to us. We Go into his glorios presence. We commune in intimacy.

“But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man’s judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self. For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord. Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.” (1 Corinthians 4:3–5)

When I got the Baptism in the Holy Spirit all the hearing of God went up 50 notches.

I thank heaven constantly for th as t importation into that degree of communion and intimacy.

The thing is,when we are "on track" (doctrinally) the bible will confirm it.

Some theologians in South Africa say that Doom (It is a bug spray in SA) can be used to drive out demons... LOLOL should I follow them because they have one or two degrees? I think not.

A degree is not a prerequisite to get into heaven last time I checked... or wait I actually never checked but I know it is not in the Bible.

I'm talking abou accredited degrees, not diploma mills.
