The town folk of Fruita, Colorado celebrate,"Mike the headless chicken day." Local farmer L. A. Olson cut off Mike's head September 10th, 1945, anticipating a chicken dinner. Mike didn't die, but lived another four years, until he choked to death on a corn kernel.
I googled, it is confirmed...😁😁😁😁😀

Not to butt in on your interesting facts but I have a funny story. Back when hubby and I were dating I used to bake things when he would visit on the weekend. He lived a little over an hour from me. I would bake something special each time he came. So this weekend I made a nice two layer cake. We didn't get a chance to eat any so I sent the cake home with him. Now my mother had taught me that to make sure the icing didn't stick to the plastic wrap, you put toothpicks on top of the cake and it will hold up the plastic.

Several days passed and he called and we chatted a bit then he said, "babe are you mad at me?" I said no,why would you ask that?" He said that he had brought the cake home and cut a big piece and sat down to eat it. He said "every other bite had a piece of something in it, when I looked it was toothpicks !!" I was surprised. I said "What do you mean?! The toothpicks were on top holding up the plastic wrap, didn't you see them?!" He said he hadn't seen them. Come to find out he had laid something heavy on the cake and the toothpicks sank down into the cake. He said he near choked to death. He loves cake so much he kept eating around the toothpicks!! Lucky he didn't choke to death! I'll never live that story down, he still says I was trying to kill him. I reminded him we weren't married then, that comes after the honeymoon is over ;)

That is hilarious, I mean that I can only imagine his reaction. It is neat that you have that memory and that he can run a muck with it, lol. You two seem to have a very healthy marriage. Well, outside of the toothpick debauchery, lol.
