Wait, didn't you call him a fool?
Wait, did you bother to read the post? He justified his decision to report someone else by talking about "rules' and I pointed out that he'd been repeatedly attacking me as a coward for not answering him - a clear violation of the same. He demanded to know something about Biblical hypocrisy all the while being blind to his own hypocritical behavior.

Therefore, since he asked for a response and would not let it go, his public behavior warranted a public disclosure of my private reason for ignoring him, which reason is sound Scriptural advice, is it not?

Sad day when someone calls PennEd a fool.

Brother Ed, keep shining your light as always to the glory of God. 😎
Dude was violating "personal attack" rules calling me a "coward" while simultaneously reporting others for "breaking the rules". Sad day when someone deems that commendable.

Slight correction: we are saved by GRACE through faith. Not by obedience of faith. :)
We most certainly are saved by grace, but what's at issue is what faith means. If someone understands it to be simple agreement that a set of facts happened, they miss that obedience and faith are inseperable. The whole idea of works vs faith is a rather recent dilemma since historically Romans has always been read not as a theological treatise but as a letter answering the situation of the Roman church in the first century. And that situation was people teaching that circumcision and dietary laws were what set apart God's people to which Paul emphasized it is faith and love that mark the believer. If you think you can show love without doing works that'd be a neat trick.

Laish, you know full well that the only disagreements I have in forums are doctrinal, so please stop with the false accusations. Our failure to see eye to eye is not indicative of anything but my good judgment, and nothing else.

Ummm, you have a choice?

Hey! Here's an idea! How about being a man and answering whether hypocrisy is a willful sin or not?

Still tryin to figure out what the big deal is in answering that.

So you are only one right then?

How about rather than relying on your good judgement ...

........you adhere to the Good News of Christ Jesus, which is that salvation is once and for all time, for those who have trusted in Him for the gift of salvation, which can never to be revoked or forsaken, apart from any merit or good works based on faith alone by His GRACE.

If this is true then the opposite is true correct?

Do works without showing love?

As in works devoid of love?

Is this possible
No, the reverse isn't a valid proposition. You can do works for motives other than love(such as to get a reward), but love compels us to do works. You can do the wrong thing through love, but love expresses itself in work.

Yes, those words of remorse are uttered by the first man, the Just one who falls seven times. He wets his pillow at night begging God for the power to stop that habit...I know that all to well. There is MERCY and FORGIVENESS for that man, amen and praise God!
;)
That I give you and agree with.

But we must bear in mind that beset habits does not mean they are not saved.
Also Gods timing is perfect in dealing with his children.

So we should never write them off.

This is my personal experience of a severe gambling addiction that even though it took 30+ years to deal with.

He had to deal with the cause of the affect.
That affect was severe sexual abuse and extreme negative emotional early childhood upbringing.

For 26 years I begged God for help, but believed I was going to hell.
For those 26 years I did not sleep well, always woke up at the same time very early in the morning full of guilt and condemnation.
Even asked God to kill me so I would know where I was going to end up.
Even tried it myself a couple of times.
I knew he would take care my wife and 4 young kids.

It took 26 years. But he had to deal with cause of the affects.
I sought help from fellow Christians.
Their advice was "Stop doing it" yeh like that helped.
If I could then I would not need to seek help.

Anyway praise God not gambled for 7 years and never had the urge to in those years.

But as I said he needed to deal with cause.

And I thank him.

The following

Romans 8:28-30
28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. 29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.

God worked good in the things of my life. He didn't make what happened good.
Most people stop at v28.
But V29 states that he does this to conform us to the image of Jesus.
He foreknew and predestined and v30 confirms that we have been called and justified and glorified.

Now I was written off by many who had no idea what was going on and never bothered to ask.
I stopped going to church because of the guilt I felt and carried.
I hope you would not have been in that group.

Now I believe in OSAS/ES and I hold store in the above verses.

I never fell foul of

Romans 6:1-2

Dead to Sin, Alive to God
1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? 2 Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?

And I'm sure those on this thread would not fall foul of that or infact teach it.

But to the presumptuous man who claims to know the Lord but doesn't beat his chest in frustration, doesn't shed tears of remorse when he's blundered, has no intention of repenting of his sin but instead presumes upon God's grace and mercy, the Scriptures saith --

"If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me." Isaiah 66:18

"He that covereth his sin shall not prosper, but whoso confesseth adnd forsaketh them shall have mercy. " Proverbs 28:13 KJV

"Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and shall be innocent of the Great Transgression." Psalms 19:13 KJV

"He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination." Proverbs 28:9 KJV
;)

None of this indicates that God revokes salvation ... this only speaks to our fellowship with Him.

And now you back peddle from the stance that it is man's choice to leave.... but rather arguing that unrepentant sin causes salvation to be lost?

Which is it?
We can easily prove that sin never outbounds grace because if it did the Cross would be of no effect.

If we live a life of sin after we come to God without repenting we are not saved anymore or were not saved in the first place.
If we live a life of sin after we come to God without repenting we were not saved in the first place.

There, fixed that for you :)

You say it’s disagreements over doctrine then say their false accusations . By saying that the disagreements happened proves that your charging of me making false statements is incorrect .
Passive aggressive much ?

Jesus preached perseverance of the Saints; Philippians 1:6; that all his will never lose salvation; John 10:27-28; John 6:37-40; John 6:44.

According to @lightbearer this preaching is of the devil.

Let that sink in brothers and sisters...
"Jesus preached perseverance of the Saints; Philippians 1:6; that all his will never lose salvation"

Here's the verse in context:

3 I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, 4 always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, 5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. 6 And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. 7 It is right for me to feel this way about you all, because I hold you in my heart, for you are all partakers with me of grace, both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel. 8 For God is my witness, how I yearn for you all with the affection of Christ Jesus. 9 And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, 10 so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, 11 filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

If we can take this quote from Paul's greetings to the Philippians as a proof text of OSAS than nothing is safe. Grabbing a generality from a prayer and labeling it as an all-encompassing definitive is a sign of weak theology. It's a hospitable greeting used by Paul to follow Christians not a dogmatic decree.

There’s usually a little blame on both sides of the aisle regarding insults and misunderstandings, yet it’s fair to say the scales dip lower towards you on this one. On another note, thanks for your service 🇺🇸
