I was reading Mark, and noticed John the Baptist talking about being baptized in the Holy Spirit. Then it dawned on me: how long did they know about Him? I know He didn’t come perhaps in the way we think now, but how early did the people’s know that He was part of the trinity? Hm...

Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me.

Read the Old Testament Prophets, they write about the Holy Spirit quite a bit.

Even in Genesis 6: God mentions the Holy Spirit.
3 And the LORD said, My Spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.

Isaiah 34:16
Seek ye out of the book of the LORD, and read: no one of these shall fail, none shall want her mate: for my mouth it hath commanded, and his Spirit it hath gathered them.

Isaiah 48:16
Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord GOD, and his Spirit, hath sent me.

Since creation: And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. (Gen 1:2) So we have "God" (Elohim) in verse 1 AND "the Spirit of God" (wa Ruah Elohim or Ruach ha Kodesh, the Holy Spirit) in verse 2.

While we see the Godhead involved in creation in Genesis, we find that Christ the Word was designated as the Creator at that time (as shown in the Gospel of John and other places).

It is rather unfortunate that the KJV translators did not capitalize "Holy Spirit" consistently throughout the Old Testament. Neither did they capitalize "Word" (for Jesus) before He became Jesus of Nazareth, and was the Word of God who appeared to men.

I think they probably knew even from the beginning because God's Spirit prompts you and you know when you are tempted if you are doing the right thing or not and when we listen it is His Spirit we are obeying to do the right thing. Right after the fall Adam and Eve both knew they had done wrong plus Cain knew he had done wrong when he killed Abel....

Both of those are examples of not listening to God's Spirit prompting us to do the right thing but making the wrong choice.

It's most likely when they were translating the Hebrew they followed the Hebrew directly. The Hebrew does not beieve in a Triune God. Here is actual Hebrew and they are saying the "spirit" in verse 2 is the same God in verse 3 that commanded, Let there be light.

2 Now the earth was astonishingly empty, and darkness was on the face of the deep, and the spirit of God was hovering over the face of the water.

3 And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light.
גוַיֹּ֥אמֶר אֱלֹהִ֖ים יְהִי־א֑וֹר וַֽיְהִי־אֽוֹר:

The Hebrew claims since God is a Spirit, the Spirit and God are one and the same being.

TOTALLY FALSE. The Hebrew word ELOHIM is a uni-plural word, and indicates the existence of the triune Godhead. Whenever a Hebrew word ends in "im" it indicates plurality, e.g. Cherub and Cherubim.

This too is confirmed in Genesis.

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness... (Gen 1:26)

And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil... (Gen 3:22)

You don't know your Hebrew very well.

Elohim (Hebrew: אֱלֹהִים [ʔɛloːˈhim]) is a word in the Hebrew Bible, refers to a single deity, particularly the Jewish God.

In the story when Jesus claims He is "I Am" to Moses as the Burning Bush, says in the Hebrew: I am the ELOHIM of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

I think that is wonderful question. Honestly aside from David I don't see him mentioned by name anywhere else in the old testament but I think he is mentioned by other names even though I admit I cannot recall for sure.

Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Gen 1:2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

1Co 8:6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him.

Eph 4:6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

The Bible said the Son was made according to the flesh, and when the fulness of the time came God sent forth His Son, made of a woman, made under the law.

The Bible says the Lord is that Spirit.

Jesus said to Philip if he has seen Him, then he has seen the Father.

And Jesus said the Holy Spirit is the Comforter that will come to them, which He said I will not leave you comfortless but I will come to you.

Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit.

The Spirit moved in creation, all things are of the Father, and Jesus created all things.

The Bible says there is only one God, the Father, who is above all.

Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are not names but titles, and Jesus created all things, came in flesh, and dwells in the saints, which Peter said baptize in Jesus' name, and Jews, Gentiles, and Samaritans were all baptized in Jesus' name.

Some people believe in a trinity, but I believe there is one God, who is a Holy Spirit, and Father is a title of God, and the Son is the man Christ Jesus whose deity is God.

Not 3 persons in a trinity, but the 3 relationships God has with His children designated by titles.

Father- Creator of all things, and parent of the saints.

Son- God's visible relationship to the saints, which the throne in heaven is the throne of God and the Lamb, God in the glorified body of the man Christ Jesus, and Jesus at the right hand means that God exalted the man Christ Jesus to exercise the throne of power for he is the mediator until His enemies are conquered, and then the Son shall submit to the Father that God may be all in all, and the Son is God in visible activity.

Holy Spirit- God's invisible relationship to the saints, and God in invisible activity, which the Bible says that Jesus dwells in the light which no man can approach unto, and no person has ever seen Jesus, and no person will ever see Jesus, for He is the invisible God, but showed a visible image of Himself.

The Holy Spirit came for all who believe after Jesus-Yeshua ascended, however the Holy Spirit did come into people according to God's will throughout the writings, even on Saul who prophesied with the prophets.

As for verse and chapter, these numbers were added to the writings of the Bible long after they were original put to paper or parchment.

Trust the Holy Spirit to affirm or deny what others say and share. If it is not affirmed or denied, keep it in your heart as did Mary, until you asre given understanding be it in this age or the age tocome. aLL BLESSINGS IN jESUS-yESHUA.

John 16:7
Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

John 20:22
And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:

Acts 2:4
And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
