Is the serpent referenced in Genesis Satan? Is there evidence for this?

Ironic, her profile claims not married, so why is she gone? Clearly if she was sincere, she would still be online seeking for more answers.
I think it was a he pretending to be a she. Grabbing a bikini shot online and pretending to be a female. Was happening often at the end of last year. Probably the same person back again. From memory they once called themselves Brandi. Yeah, pretty lame.

She has cast her net in the singles' forum... Men; what do you look for in a woman?

I have lived not a very sheltered life at all. I once thought living for God meant being a sissy. I even got into pagan rituals because the wiccan women were fast, easy, and ready to go. Kind of why, when I first saw the thong pic, I immediately felt this person is gonna be trouble. Today, as a Believer and follower of God, I no longer need my engines to rev. I just need someone to backhand the stupid out of me once in awhile ;)

I did not even need to see the pic... though after it was mentioned, I checked to see what sub what talking about, so I did address the issue, but not before my response to Dino :)

Just the title of this thread alone is deceiving. It's right in your face "how do YOU KNOW the serpent is Satan?" Followed by, "is there evidence for this?" It's more of a challenge than a topic for discussion.

Revelation 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

Did John the Apostle write Genesis?
He says, the serpent of old, which is definitely a strong indication that it is Satan. Additionally, the serpent's head will be crushed by the "seed of the woman" who is Jesus.

I once heard a guy who thinks Satan is a literal serpent. That was pretty funny.

What is used most in the OT is ha-satan, taken to mean the adversary, and/or accuser.

Satan alone is mentioned only once (1 Chronicles 21).

Depends what Bible you use.. In my Bible KJV satan is mentioned 15 times in the Old Testament and 40 times in the New Testament..

I think it's pretty funny that God's Word doesn't answer the question about who the serpent is until the last book ... so in order to find the answer to that question, we've got to read the whole Bible. hahahahahaha ... love God's wisdom. :)

It saddens me when people are removed...I think that if they are here, maybe they are looking initially to mock, but if we can defend THE GOSPEL (and we can), maybe something might be heard that the person might go away, or better still, remain, and possibly hear with new ears?

This is a different type of arena for evangelizing, and in the audience, we should expect that there will be, ( in the crowd) , those who will mock and call out and shock and be disrespectful

Do we shut them up?

I don´t think we should.

Just my opinion

Just to clarify, I was speaking solely of Old Testament usages, in the original language of Hebrew. In terms of statistics, the noun satan occurs 27 times in the Hebrew Bible. Ten of those occurrences are without the article (ha) - no that is not me laughing haha. Of these ten occurrences, seven refer to human beings and two refer to the Angel of Yahweh. That means nine of the ten instances clearly do not refer to the Devil or proper personal name, Satan. Here is an interesting page on the matter :D

Buffy is still active, so that profile has not been removed. However, when that poster called you Paul of Tarsus, why did that not send off the alarms bells in your mind? It is Saul of Tarsus, not Paul.

Paul the Apostle. Paul the Apostle, [previously known] as ((Saul of Tarsus)) and now often called St Paul (AD 9–67), was a Messianic Jewish - Roman writer and rabbi.
