Sorry about that, Dude. :D

Asking about genders is absolutely allowed and nowadays, almost practical. To give a little background info... I know I often talk about things such as, "the old system" -- I've been on CC since 2009 (though there are a some members who have been here far longer) and have seen it change formats about 3 times that I can remember (and if this is inaccurate, all the old timers here are free to correct me.)

Each time there is an update, we lose some features and gain others. In "the old system", male member's names were in blue, and female members were in pink (though of course, people weren't always honest about their gender, but, that's the internet, not CC.)

I've seen many times in the threads where people were told to look up someone's profile to find out what gender they are but that doesn't always work either. This new system allows people to be more selective about who can see their profile so they might not have it set for everyone to see.

I'd like to think that the Singles forum is easy-going enough to not get offended if someone asks whether we're a guy or a girl, and if anyone does get offended, well... We'll work on that. :)

Contrary to what some believe, lol, I actually do have a life outside of CC :), so if I don't answer right away, feel free to ask again or PM me if you're able because I'm either busy with "REAL LIFE" (oh, the horror!!!) or it's very possible that I might have missed your post -- and not on purpose. For some reason, this new system doesn't always alert me when there are new posts on the threads I'm watching.

Unfortunately, I'm not CC Bot and can't be here watching and responding all the time. :)

And, there's absolutely no reason to apologize for asking about asking :) people what gender they are. It was actually a very helpful question, so thank you for taking the time to ask (I hope everyone will feel free to ask their questions in these threads.)

We have a very collective, knowledgeable group, so one of my goals in writing these discussions is to hopefully help share what we know or have experienced, whether it's about CC or any other area of life. :)
Thank you so much Seoul! All though I'd like to think I have many virtues. Patience has never been one of them. (just ask my daughter) LOl. I just want to apologize again. God Bless!!!

That's the beauty (and point) of this being a DIY (do it yourself) thread.

No one has to worry about remembering people to match them up. No one has to worry about some stranger matching them with some crazy lady who owns 4 ceramic goldfish (I plead the 5th.) And no one has to worry about sitting in a corner unnoticed because no one bothered to match them -- it's up to them to get up and do the work.

Everything here is a "Take the bull by the horns and take some initiative" experience. :)

If someone chooses to share about themselves, they can, and they get to choose who and how much they want to share. And if they should read other people's information and want to know more about them or start a conversation, it's totally up to them to start that conversation. But if someone doesn't want to participate at all, that's also totally up to them. Can you handle all having all those choices??? :p

This "matchmaking" thread completely cuts out the middleman/middlewoman (or in some cases, MEDDLING men/women ), and leaves it all up to the individual.
sorry I got stuck on ceramic goldfish the curious artistic person in me wants to see them lol

Alas, they are store-bought.

I always thought ceramics would be cool but it sounds like one would have to be able to rent or be part of a club with all the equipment in order to do them.

yes, there some good size equipment used when making ceramics. I took a ceramics class for one semester because my jewelry teacher talked me into signing up for his class thought it would be good for me as an artist.

I'm not sure what I should do here. My normal approach to dealing with matchmakers has a lot to do with proper use of a flamethrower. But a DIY thread is confusing... should I use a flamethrower on seoulsearch because she started the thread? Should I toast myself because it's a DIY thread and now I'm participating in it? I don't have enough fuel to flame everybody who posted in this thread.

I will default to the reliable fallback plan used by felines for millennia when faced with indecision.

I find this really interesting. I've noticed that if you want to get into a hobby nowadays, there is so much you need. Like for sewing, I know you need a sewing machine, fabric, thread, and other supplies...but you also need time, patience, and a lot of room! I would like to get into new hobbies like sewing...but it's just difficult sometimes. I wonder how some people do it to be so good at many things.

On CC in your profile can you put all the answers to those questions there. I think it can be optional though. That way, someone can just go to your profile if they want to look you up and know all about you.

then somene could run a computer algorthim that matches you up or says because you answered x on question 6 you have stuff in common with this person....and THIS person has 70 percent compatibility rating with you. want to be friends???
If you think a thread is pointless and/or unnecessary, there is a better way to deal with it than breezing in and deriding the thread. You can just not post in the thread. Ignoring it takes a lot less time and energy and you irritate people a lot less.

I think we are all having fun. I debated doing it but I realized that I need to be more transparent if I want to others to do the same. Getting to know more about the people in our group allows us to connect with similar personalities and also to have background to interpret some of the comments that are made on different topics. Knowing if someone is an animal lover, or athlete, or gamer, or comedian makes for a closer group. I know it helps me understand them better. Yes it is scary to put yourself out there but as singles, it isn't just about dating, but being a support for each other, becoming another branch of family.

I think you should teach a class on the appropriate use of a flame thrower. I am thinking it ties in nicely to the last question on the survey. :)

I know where Canada is, I also know where hastings is, sketchy part of town, but a very nice policeman directed
us to a much safer section of that lil unknown city.
Yes. Downtown Vancouver has some beautiful areas, Stanley Park, English Bay, Coal harbour, Gastown and then you walk one block and it is incredibly scary. I'm in a much more rural section with farmers markets, the Fraser river, owls, falcons and stellar jays. There is even a woodpecker who has decided that my metal chimney stack is his answer to online dating. It sounds like a jackhammer when he wants to put it out there that he is looking for a mate!
I love that I can drive 10 minutes to pick strawberries, blueberries and raspberries for jams, buy locals meats and veggies and hike the trails.
The city is great for theater and access to amazing libraries. We have some good events out here but I am low key.

1. Sole or Bill (I wouldn’t mind being called Handsome – but it’s probably too soon and not appropriate – anymore).

2. Virginia… While I believe that I am in my dream home – I anticipate that the right woman could influence where my heart belongs.

3. I'm a proud father of three amazing and over-achieving adult kids - empty nesting.

4. One hypoallergenic Golden Doodle named Rollo-Corona (seriously, his cousin is Guinness in Ca). He is this man’s best friend – dude is so smart, a great listener and very compassionate… Play-time is one of our favorite things to do…

5. I'm a devote Christian family man - found renewed spirituality and faith in HIM all along my journey. As a Christian father I continue to see my role to be the spiritual leader and role model for my adult kids.

6. I am seeking fellowship along my path to rebuilding my spiritual self (re-learning my self-worth/value), with the hope for romance – praying our Lord is willing. Recognizing HE does have a sense of humor – how else do you explain Penguins and my youngest son thinking that he can eat an entire box of pizza in his underwear on my bed…

7. Career: Sr Operations Research Analyst for USMC with a passion for making a difference for our future Marine service members. Have an advanced degree, albeit my little brother always reminds me that if I had one more year of education – I’d be dangerous…

Hobbies: I enjoy all kinds of activities out in God’s Country: hiking, jogging, biking, camping or maybe just parking (at a nice remote/romantic location 😉. I like eating and feeling healthy as a lifestyle (T25 and wrestling with pup) – cheat days/weekends are my favorite. Have spent the past 3+ years redefining myself and re-discovering my Purpose… Yes, I’ve finally found my Purpose kinda like Steve Martin in ‘The Jerk’ only completely different haha…

Interests: I’m an amateur Conspiracy Theorist and recovering work-o-holic. Yes, I love all kinds of Movies – especially the good ones… A glutton for those that tug at my heart strings, make me laugh, or scratch my head and go ‘hmm’. Best Movie of all time is one I haven’t seen yet. A fan of the Theater. Best vacations are family reunions; road trips; visiting and laughing/crying with family for the holidays. While I don’t claim to know everything – I usually have a working answer, theory, premise or hypothesis for both worldly topics and those not of this realm. While I do like food – I believe that food is over-rated – until it is not. I’m a people person – except of course when I am not…

8.a. I am a hopeless romantic (genuinely empathetic/INFJ/counselor/advocate/idealist) – who enjoys making partner feel special in every possible way. I’ve studied ‘Defending the Caveman’, ‘Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus’; I strive to use words that are helpful and not hurtful; and I know that statistically speaking that ‘Zero’ Men have ever been murdered by their female partners while they were wearing an apron & doing the dishes…

8.b. I have a juvenile (bad dad jokes) sense of humor. I’m happy to be me. I am not perfect but I am honest, loving and real. I don’t try to be what I am not and I don’t try to impress anyone. I am exactly who I am – I’m Batman – but I’m also a Riddler… Hoping that she gets my charm, wit and humor and is not offended for example for Why we say 'Amen' at the end of a prayer instead of 'Awomen' - For the same reason we sing Hymns instead of Hers! 😉

9. I am open to our Lord’s will… Trying to stay out of my own way. While I pray for ‘Unconditional Love’ I hope for someone who knows themselves (self-aware), knows their own self-worth/value, knows their love-language – is willing to learn and considerate of mine; and has the capacity to both genuinely give and receive love with all their heart and soul. Open to being there for/with someone along their spiritual journey. Hoping for someone who recognizing that there is no such thing as a perfect relationship – just two imperfect people who refuse to give-up on each other… She can appreciate the message in Little Billy’s story:

Billy had been misbehaving and was sent to his room. After a while he emerged and informed his mother that he had thought it over and then said a prayer. "Fine", said the pleased mother. "If you ask God to help you not misbehave, He will help you." "Oh, I didn't ask Him to help me not misbehave," said Billy. "I asked Him to help you put up with me."

10. Yes, I would probably survive right up until the moment that I don’t… If TWD is any indication for best practices – as a quasi-introvert & Marine who knows how to avoid people/contact – longevity is prolonged via total and complete isolation in the most remote locations possible (shh I know a secret bunker)… Of course my Achilles heel, would be to share my secret with my closest friends and family. Of which one of my Gen-X family members would likely turn first – on a silly run for Junk Food (recall food being over-rated); which would likely lead to the demise of the entire secret encampment.

Extra Credit: I’m 56, Aries, and Male open to female interests between mid 40s to mid 60s. I believe in Angels and that Angels often come in the form of Daughters. I believe that Dogs are God’s example for us humans for ‘Unconditional Love.’ I believe in calmly letting people know when we are in violent agreement. While I recognize that I have my faults and I’m NOT always right (I was wrong twice last year) I am willing to learn… Things that make me cry: random acts of kindness, Hallmark movies, when I mis-place the remote control for an entire afternoon – only to find it in the fridge with the lunch meat and I don’t recall ever having made a sandwich that day (validating the premise that food is over-rated)… 😊

I watch alot of different animes. My Hero Academia is one of my current faves. I like the themes of Heroism and self sacrifice. As for books I've always been a fan of Goosebumps and similar books. They inspire my own writing. Music is a must for me. I've been a big fan of metal for 2 decades now as for Gospel I didn't get into that until I became a Christian about 5 years ago. Heavy Metal eventually lead to Christian Metal which lead to Gospel which lead to my born again experience. So I owe music quite a bit.

Just out of curiosity...

Is that a giant roll of toilet paper in your avatar? (Top right?)

If so, be sure to list that as one of the things you have to offer. :D

These days, after finding the shelves empty for 2 months, it's one of the hottest commodities a person would be willing to share.
