This is an amazing Scripture:
Jude 1:

20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,

Praying in the Holy Ghost!

Ironic to think most believe Speaking in Tongues have ceased from what Paul wrote in 54 AD.

Then estimated around 65 AD, some 10+ years after Paul's letter, we have Jude, who clearly tells us that by praying in the (HOLY GHOST = Speaking in Tongues) builds up our most Holy Faith.

  • Praying in the Holy Spirit is the ability given to believers that allows them to pray in a supernatural language. It is also sometimes referred to as praying in tongues, praying in unknown tongues, or praying with your spirit language. Praying in the Spirit is the means by which our redeemed human spirit communicates directly with God’s Spirit.

I love how reneweddaybyday used the full setting of Jude, where the other poster specifically cherry picked verse 4!

I didn't say that we should judge anybody. That's God's job.
Why not, why do you oppose Gods word that clearly tells us that we should judge those inside the church? Especially after i had just posted the verse telling us that.

I guess what I am asking is why are you teaching a different gospel?

Moving on to your next remark.
I am saying that we should expose false teachers and not follow them.
How do you propose exposing false teachers without making a judgement first weighing up their teaching against the truth? Or do you support the idea that we should label someone as a false teacher based on what someone else said?
Nah, that's crazy, that would be blindly exposing supposed false teachers.

Also why would you encourage us to refute heathens (those outside of the church). I mean how do you refute someone and not make a judgement on whether they are speaking truth or not. Oh I get it, just blindly refute them anyway, that way you can keep your "we shouldn't judge anybody" status. All the while your refute against them are driving them far away from our all loving Father.
Yea good job "HUN"

When I used the word 'judge' I was talking about casting judgement upon them for changing the word of God, i.e. teaching a false scripture, which is a sin.
It is not our job to judge people on their sins. Do you think it is?

You however were talking about making a 'judgement call' as to whether or not they are indeed preaching a false gospel.

You've asked me why I'm teaching a different gospel.
Please ensure that you act to reconcile any misunderstandings or 'crossed wires' before casting such an assertion.

In terms of how I and others would deal with false teachers, that is contained within this thread - perhaps read it?

Within the last few days I started a thread about Westboro Baptist Church.

Despite how members of the Church behave, I asked whether they are correct in some of their teachings.
In answer to this question I was given a resounding *NO!".
I was even attacked by other users of this forum, who asked whether I am a Westboro member.

The thread can be viewed here:
https://christianchat.com/bible-discussion-forum/westboro.192419/

The reason I'm starting this particular thread is because I want to know if the Christian community will rise with a similar zeal in refuting other false teachers and heathens...

For instance:

- The new wave of so called 'mega-churches' that are light on scriptural teaching but heavily promote the so called 'prosperity gospel'.
These so called churches generally use the money that people give to enrich the lifestyle of the leaders.
Examples include Hillsong and C3.
Both of these organisations have been hit with child sexual abuse scandals.

- What about the Catholic 'church'?
What is the Biblical justification for the pope, cardinals, etc?
What is the Biblical justification for their traditions for example confessing sins TO THEIR 'FATHER' as oppose to Jesus, the hail Mary beads as a form of punishment, etc?
This so called 'church' has also been very heavily embroiled in a child sexual abuse scandal, and the Catholic hierarchy acted to cover it up.

Will my brothers and sisters in Christ act to rebuke these false teachings and un-Christ like deeds?
As prophets, apostles sent out with the gospel . we can declare the word of our father but he rebukes if there is any needed or the father desires so . When Peter blasphemed the Son of man, Jesus . The father gave words to Jesus the prophet and the Lord rebuked the spirit of error . He said to Peter rebuking Satan . Satan get behind me not seen. . not behind Peter seen .The devil fled. The Lord forgave Peter of his blasphemy

The true gospel cast out all the false gospel to include the 'prosperity gospel' Put on the whole armor of God and keep it on.

My two cents on the topic:

Yes, the Bible is clear that it is our duty to rebuke false teachers.

That being said, I can assure you that teachers get rebuked plenty, whether false or not. How to handle criticism is an important skill teachers need to learn, and you, by rebuking them, become that critic.

Please explain your statement "the LORD has deceived that teacher".

Are you saying that God deliberately deceives the deceived teachers of His Word?

Apologies if I did not correctly understand your statement.
Do you believe that a person who presumes to speak a word in the name of the LORD is a teacher of his word,
"if one presumes to speak a word in the name of the LORD is deceived, the LORD has deceived that teacher. "
then might you want to read the passage in Ezekiel 14:9 since there is a reason it is called prophesy of scripture.

Then again, who do you think sends them a strong delusion that they should believe a lie?

OK so I will begin by calling you out for your false teaching on salvation.
Thank you for making me aware that I may be teaching something that is false.
I do not wish to falsely represent the word of God, so thank you for providing an opportunity for self- reflection.

Perhaps I could spell out what I believe and you could tell me where I'm wrong, of course with justification...

I believe that we are reconciled with God through belief in our Lord Jesus Christ.

We are told to
1. Have faith in Jesus, AND
2. Do our best to stop sinning and rebelling against God

We will never be able to stop sinning because of our imperfect nature and so we will never be able to reach the standard of God through any works.
Through Jesus I believe he, and he only, makes up for this shortfall and reconciles us with God.

BUT if we do not consciously turn away from sin and do our best to stop rebelling against God once we accept Jesus into our lives, Jesus' sacrifice will not cover those sins:

Hebrews 10:26
"Dear friends, if we deliberately continue sinning after we have received knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice that will cover these sins".

Perhaps you could tell me where my beliefs are false?
Thank you.

I would like to note, no one went after that church to attack or expose them, you opened the door when you asked about them and people told you how they feel.ie they did not just go and attack them..

I see you opened a post on how salvation is more than by faith, does that not make you a false teacher. So question, should we go after you?

If I'm a false teacher I ask that you correct me.

However, before asserting that I'm a false teacher please try to understand what it is that I'm actually teaching.
See post 68 above :)

@DWR You have accused me of being a false teacher.
This is a very serious accusation, though as I said if I am teaching falsely I stand to be corrected.

I have specified what I believe in post #68 above (quoted) and I have invited you to correct anything that I have said if it is incorrect, and that you are able to demonstrate it to be incorrect.

I am yet to hear back from you.

If you feel that I'm a false teacher, please correct me.
If not, please apologise for making the accusation and I will forgive you.

Our duty is to declare the truth. If we allow the truth we teach to rebuke those who teach falsehood we have been faithful to our Lord Jesus Christ.

Declare the gospel before a lost and dying world. Allow the Holy Spirit to rebuke and call the lost to Christ. We are not told to endeavor to make folks believe. We are to show what Christ has done for us and tell them of His promise to do the same for them if they come and receive Him.

No ...

Deuteronomy 18:

20 But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die.

21 And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken?

22 When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.

Unlike many of you, I do not spent hours every day on this forum arguing with people who will never change their minds. I would much rather spend that time in the study of the Word.

In your thread Not by works-false you stated that believing in Jesus Christ as our Lord was not enough to be saved but there is something we must do, works are necessary.
This is a false teaching. those who teach this are false teachers.

Now I know that you will not accept this, so it is a waste of my time to continue this conversation.
But I did do as you suggested. I call out a false teacher.

um...
what you do is vote with your feet and dont sit under them.
I dont know about you but heckling someone in the middle of class is not something Ive seen happen much at all. You could question someones teachings, but if they were really false that might be enough to expose them.

Jesus just kept on with telling the truth rather than constantly waste his time rebuking others. And there were plenty of Pharisees around. in the New Testament letters, paul and others would just write about the false teachers as enough to expose them, the only time they were openly rebuked was in letters and some of them were named.

I think with churches that are associated with hillsong etc they need to be exposed more because so many churches accept their songs without question, it seems everytime a song of theirs is played they get royalties or the glory instead of God and people are just unaware of how they are seducing many people with music.

Ok, I would like to understand why what I'm teaching is false.
I call upon you to help me if I have things wrong.

John 14:15
"If you love me, keep my commandments".

Matthew 7:21
"Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter".

Hebrews 10:26
"Dear friends, if we deliberately continue sinning after we have received knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice that will cover these sins".

My reading is that those who accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour but deliberately keep sinning (i.e. make no effort to keep God's commandments), will not be covered by Jesus' sacrifice - see Hebrews verse above.

Can you please explain clearly why my understanding is wrong?

Because of what many on this forum have testified they believe is necessary for salvation, I believe that they may be in that very group that Matthew 7:21 speaks about.

A true believe will try to keep God's commands because a true believe will love his Lord and Savior.

You are saying that a person can believe and be saved but lose that salvation if they willfully sin.
That is placing eternal security in the individuals hands, not it the hands of the Savior.
Deny it all you want, but that is salvation based on works, not on the grace, mercy, and love of the Father and the price the Son paid when He died on the cross for the sins of all man.
