That was an interesting story of your testimony of how you found Christ! I too, resisted God for many years, in spite of my parents being very godly, and in spite of their excellent biblical training of all of us children (10 in all). But the time finally came when I was about 31, when I got tired of the troubles of my life caused by sin and emotional troubles, and I fully surrendered my life to HIs full control, ever since! As you say, there are many spiritual sources in the world, that can have spiritual benefit upon people, in spite of imperfections of the sources - provided that people's hearts are starting to open up to God. That is demonstrated as true in this passage, too:
Matt 23:1-3
23:1 Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples,

2 Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat:

3 All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.
KJV
And as you say, God's Spirit calls out to all unbelievers, though many resist Him:
Matt 22:14

14 For many are called, but few are chosen.
KJV

Rom 1:20

20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
KJV
Comment: The creation is an evidence all people can see that proves that there is a God.
And God gives us all consciences, whether we know any of God's written laws or not:
Rom 2:14

14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
KJV
God bless you! I'm glad you found Him, just as I'm glad I found Him! I love deep study of God's Word and post spiritual things very often in Facebook, etc. I know the Bible very well, as i have a good memory, and have re-read it for many years. I am 62 at this time. Have a good day!
I was fortunate. All the trials and tribulation's I have endured in my life. The holy spirit has always
been with me! I'm glad that you had parent's to plant that seed in you!

I would challenge people to listen to this and say that it is from the kingdom of satan. It was from when we had a Canadian Idol. It ended years ago but the power of this piece was amazing. He knew it would be opposed and he did it anyways and touched lives.

What? Haha where did your post go, @laughingheart ? And when did we get our own Idol show? :giggle:
That copy had the judges at the end and I felt it takes away from the video. I wanted to post a copy that just focused on the song. We used to have a Canadian Idol but they ruined it by judges trying to act like Simon Cowell and talking on and on. This one song was such an act of worship. God had the musicians as one of the most important appointments to the temple and his worship.

It’s very catholic ya know
No danger of ending up in hell if one has sincerely accepted Jesus as Lord (God) and Savior of His life. But no true Catholic is headed for heaven. Since Catholics don't teach salvation through Jesus alone, and since they to so-called "saints" - when the BIble strictly forbids praying to ANYONE EXCEPT FOR GOD! Jesus was God in the flesh. God is just one God, but has parts to Himself. We humans have parts to ourselves too.
Matt 4:10

10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
KJV
Some Christians have liked the movie. But personally, I didn't watch it, as I saw and heard it was extra bloody, and I don't like that.

Thank you for your thoughtful responses, and my apologies on the delay of my own. I am a slow, two-fingered typist and like to allow extra time when I know my response is going to be lengthy or needs to be pondered upon to gather my thoughts on the matter. Generally speaking, I avoid making lengthy responses :) Also, my memory may not be as good as yours :giggle: It is probably a good thing that as I age my focus becomes narrower because less things distract me as my attention increasingly revolves more around Him

Large families in our culture are becoming more and more rare. Coming from a large family myself as you do I think gives us a different ground of perspective because we were brought up in an environment comprised of many people whom we were accustomed to giving consideration, service, and precedence over our own selves. That is not to say the problem of selfishness and sin had no room to take root...

Perhaps it is simply a minor manifestation of my tendency to OCD in relation to numbers, having had a bit of a fascination with them from my youth (though certainly not to the extent that I have seen in others LOL), that I have sometimes marveled at the apparent significance of the number 33 in my story/testimony, given that is the age it is generally believed/accepted Christ was at the time of His crucifixion and resurrection... because I was 33 when I had that first profound and undeniably from the One True God experience of His unconditional love and forgiveness, and it had also been 33 years from the time I quit the church as a teenager to the time years later after that experience when I found myself being drawn back to it and surrendering my life to Christ. Of course the most important thing is that I surrendered my life to Christ, and I am without a doubt grateful that God allowed me to survive the stupidity of my youth. I can see too that even in all those years I was lost and wandering and seeking and losing myself in other things as you also describe, I learned a lot about not only myself but also people in general that became such powerful tools of wisdom and protection when I started doing online apologetics three years into my Christian walk. Of course all glory goes to God! It really helps me understand accept and believe that no matter what, or how it looks to me or others in the moment, all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose..

This added information about your process of getting closer to full surrender is interesting too. Yes, I went through a process like that, too. But God sees when people are in a process towards coming into full surrender. And He does all He can to get it to happen if at all possible and as soon as is possible always. He is loving and patient and that's good!
Amen and amen :)

I happen to have a history with this one. My mother used to take us kid's to mass
every Sunday. She taught us that Jesus died for us. And the kid stuff like "Noah's ark",
The ten commandment's,( Moses). Anyway I never really understood until one Easter Sunday
morning, I woke up very early to get my Easter basket.( At the time , we only had 3 t.v. channels)
and this was on. I did not realized that Jesus died that way! I was 6 or 7, I got it. Jesus was
persecuted
for our sins. Taught us a new way of life. " Love one another, as I have loved You" That was a profound statement to a 7 yr, old grasp,.I go to Mass every Sunday and this is why. Jesus was the King of the world! How could you not follow Him. It's a tradition , we watch it every year. I don't know ,It makes me grounded in a way. My way of thinking about Christ has'nt change...
I agree: that is a profound truth for such a young person to grasp :D

I do not recall us having any movie we watched as a family Christmas tradition, but I do know that we never failed to gather to sing Christmas carols, and all those years I was lost and wandering I never lost my love of partaking in that :) We also used to set up a nativity scene on the dining room sideboard each year, and it was considered quite a privilege to be chosen as the one who got to put baby Jesus in His manger crib on Christmas eve
:giggle:

We did not have any traditional family Easter movie either  What we did have at Easter was a plastic tree that we clipped hummingbirds onto  I have no idea of the significance or relevance of hummingbirds with Easter :geek: And we also wore big hats on Easter Sunday :giggle:

I remember for Easter. We would get our snazzy new Sunday close and shoe's! Lol. my older brother and I would get matching clothes. (ones he picked! Lol.) Go to the fairground's after mass for an Easter egg
hunt. Funny, after so many year's I just thought of this.

Our Christmas tradition. All the grand children would spend the night, Christmas eve at my Grandmother's.
All time best!

What is there to like about Jesus Christ being brutally tortured for our sins? You need to watch flesh being torn from his already beaten body. Open wounds from a whip. Then, and only then, will understand what He sacrificed for you. For your sins. As for "Saints". Why you have a problem with Catholics Remembering the men and women who committed their entire lives to Jesus. Some that were brutally tortured in the same way. Would you do the same ? Do you think that they were foolish? That they could have been like you and "just" Believed that Jesus died for our sins and would have been "saved"? This is childish. As for the crucifix around my neck. Or hang on the wall. I don't and have never prayed to them. These are reminder's of who I am and what I am about.( to behave like a Christian.) I don't know who or where you got your theories but you were misled. As for me. I don't care how or when you found the Lord , I am glad that what ever path anyone has taken or what ever path God has chosen for you, you found Him. God Bless...Oh, and Jesus had another saying. "He without sin cast the first stone"

The best part about Easter for me growing up, being forced to give up candy for lent was now being allowed to indulge in all of the Easter Candy. It was like Halloween but without any costumes. I believe that the Easter Bunny wears a costume though. Regarding Halloween, it has been rumored that the Great Pumpkin wears a costume as well but has not been verified. This coming Halloween the Great Pumpkin, if an appearance is indeed made, will probably be wearing a mask and a face shield.
