What type of sleep do you wish?

  • “My son, do not let them depart from your eyes; keep sound wisdom and judgment, when you lie down, you shall not be afraid; yea, you shall lie down, and your sleep shall be sweet.” (Proverbs 3.21,24).

Things that steal our sleep: fear, anxiety, despondency, wrath, etc.

In particular, what does it make someone don’t be afraid?

1 – Righteousness:

  • “The wicked flee when no man pursues: but the righteous are bold as a lion.” (Proverbs 28.1).

When we are right before Jesus, He watches over us and our goods (Psalms 127.1,2) and makes amends between us and all nature (Job 5.23; Hosea 2.18), even with our enemies (Proverbs 16.7). When we do His will, planning on doing things in order that it comes out who is Jesus and how great is His love for us, everything comes off in our favor.

2 – The presence of the Creator watching us over:

  • “My help comes from Jehovah, who made Heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to be moved; *He who keeps you* will not slumber. Behold, *He who keeps Israel* shall neither slumber nor sleep. *Jehovah is your keeper*; Jehovah is your shade on your right hand.” (Psalms 121.2-5).

Nevertheless, where does your help come from? From “Egypt” with its horsemen and chariots (see Psalms 20.7; 147.10,11; Isaiah 30.1-3; 31.1-3) or from Christ? Is Jesus really our unique Lord, Savior and Treasure (see Genesis 15.1; Psalms 16.5; 73.26)?

So, if you crave for sweet sleeping, cling only to the wisdom and judgment of the Eternal. Don’t allow your human nature based on the wisdom of this world to convert into craziness and flimsiness the wisdom, power and strength of the Creator (1Corinthians 2.8,14). Have a marvelous week in Christ Jesus.
