Hey I am not trying to prove to you anything I just testify to what I know is true. I think you were given very Good wisdom from
Dorthy-Mae. You should do it.

1Corinthians 12:1:11

Spiritual Gifts.

Now about spiritual gifts, brothers,I do not want you to be ignorant.
You know that when you were pagans, somehow or other you were influenced and led astray to mute idols.
Therefore I tell you that no-one can say,”Jesus is Lord”,except by the Holy Spirit.
There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit.
There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord.
There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men.
Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.
To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom,to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit,to another faith by the same Spirit,to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit,to another miraculous powers,to another prophecy,to another distinguishing between spirits,to another speaking in different kind of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues.
All these are the work of the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines.

Are you aware of scriptures showing anything else happening when people were filled with the Holy Ghost?

I'm at work but off the top of my head Ex.31:3 spirit filled with wisdom to work in the tabernacle in the wilderness,1 Cor.12:8 gifts of H. S.,Luke 1:6 Zacharias,John's Father was also filled with the Spirit and prophesied.
God's ways are so far above what our infinitesimal minds can conceive and He doesn't conform to our ideas, opinions,or theology.

Most people are honest enough to admit that they are (or at least were) "blind". In other words, we admit that we didn't know God, or had difficulty understanding what is really being said in the bible. And although perhaps embarrassed, we were humble enough to receive instruction from someone who is willing to guide us.

Then, at some point, we met someone who said "Hey, you need to know about God (or Jesus). Let me teach you."

And we said "Ok. That sounds good." And we began to let them lead us, or perhaps to take us to someone even more knowledgeable. And they began to teach us how to "see" certain scriptures.

However, there is a danger hidden within this scenario, and Jesus warns us about it. He said "If the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch".

The question becomes "Wow, that's a scary thought. How could I find out if the person that leads me is blind?"

Well, you could ask the person leading you how to recognize a "blind leader". And I almost guarantee that they will give you an answer that does not point at him or herself as a blind leader.

What most will do is to point you to the scriptures to find the answers....encouraging you to revisit the scriptures they've told you are the most important ones... and that they've been teaching you how to interpret. Please don't miss the importance of the previous sentence. They know what you will find if you look at the scriptures the way they have taught you.

Now you're left with a problem.... How can you know the TRUTH if you may have been taught to "see" by the blind?

If you look at the scriptures by the way you were taught, you will only find the answers you’ve been taught to find...“Seeing” the scriptures through the eyes of your leaders, whether they are blind or not.

If you try to look at the scriptures without what you’ve been taught, you’re only left with yourself...and you’ve already admitted that you were blind before learning from your leaders.

So what should you do about this problem?

Simple… When we can’t “see” and don’t know who to trust, we need to directly ask the only person we can truly trust (God) until he answers.

God cannot lie. And he will only speak truth...even about your leaders. If they are blind leaders, God would tell that truth to you if you ever gain the ability to hear from God directly...and THAT is the reason you are told that God no longer speaks.

Does God speak? Yes. He says “My sheep hear my voice”. And he cannot lie. <--that means he still speaks and at least some still hear..

So... Have you heard his voice? If not, you should be asking sincerely why not, and how you can. But I recommend that you ask the one you can trust, not the ones you should have asked about before trusting them with your eternity. (You need to go to God, not man...not even me, if you REALLY want to know the truth.)

BTW, Just because you can’t see clearly doesn’t mean you can’t hear. :)

Love in Jesus,
Kelby

“He that hath an ear, let him hear.”
I think I know what you are trying to say, however, I could be mistaken.

I have never heard a voice. I have learned to know when I have thoughts, ideas, understanding, illumination, and when it is the Spirit of God bearing witness with my spirit. Is that what you mean?

Not everyone has the same experiences in their initial introduction to Christ and their journey of learning what the Bible teaches. Some grow up in church and have had these "leader influences" you speak of all their lives and do confess to discovering that they were reading the bible through "filters" of being taught how to interpret things.

Others did not grow up in church or know anyone who confessed Christ or talked about the bible or any of its teachings and began to read the bible after conversion and discover its meaning on their own by reading and researching commentaries when they got stuck, reading more than one commentary to discover all possible interpretations and deciding for themselves which interpretation made the most sense based on context and the most natural common reading comprehension .

At some point we all have predisposed positions or rather, a foundational theological filter in which we interpret things. This is to be expected. It is necessary to interpret authorial intent. If an interpretation contradicts something that the author has already stated in another passage it cannot possible be the meaning.

The more familiar we become with the entire body of scriptures the more we comprehend the theological context we should be using to interpret scriptures.
There are "truth streams" that flow through out the entire bible and are repeated over and over driving home those concepts that God obviously wants us to understand.
This is Theological Context. It is not a negative biased, it is not a filter that obfuscates truth, it is the measuring rod by which we know we are interpreting it correctly as God intended.

The Holy Spirit often speaks to me in these "over arching" theological concepts, but they are based on scriptures I have read and understood over years of study. I know that I am interpreting something correctly because it aligns with all of the rules of hermeneutics and is supported by these over arching theological ideas from the scriptures not because I heard a voice. The voice is in the illumination itself.

I have also learned that my capacity to understand the spiritual things of God that He is wanting me to focus on at the moment, is directly related to my absolute surrender to Faith in Christ and repentance toward God. Only as I give sin no quarter and mortify the deeds of the flesh, do I experience that open heaven of illumination in the study of His Word. If I allow any unholy thing to remain in my life it will soon cloud my ability to see what God is wanting to show me in the scripture. Oh I can continue reading and learning facts about the scripture and talk about the meaning in a surface sort of way that any unregenerate could also do. But that revelation that comes only from the Father and is of a supernatural life giving quality is given only to a heart that has had its fallowed ground tilled in repentance and absolute surrender.

I hear Him speaking to me, when he illuminates my understanding in the Word. By the indwelling Holy Spirit my perception of reality is illuminated so that I see things the way they really are, and I see things to come, but even this is all founded on the understanding that I have received from years of studying the Word of God.

When studying the word of God it is true that the same Spirit that inspired the authors to write the Word dwells in us and will inspire us to understand it. That being said there should always be a meeting of the minds, between us and the authors when our understanding agrees with what the author intended when the Spirit inspired him.

again Jesus did not provide what the Pharisees asked Him. The proof is out there, for me it is settled.

I have seen God Save, set free, and deliver; all glory to HIM. I have seen HIm heal too many times over my life and ministry to even entertain and immature request. to you I say

1Corinthains 14:38 "But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant."

The problem with you is you have not the life you need that Jesus said each believer would have. you are dead inside and dissatisfied with your own walk. You have no joy and clearly no peace. But you can. it must be very unfulfilling to go and demand performances from the people of God who hold to the Gifts of the Holy Spirit and will not do as you ask.

They have faith. :) and they know you are not anything new. God bless you were done.

We witness it with faith not with our eyes. We walk in the spiritual as well as in the flesh so it can be easy to want to see through the eyes of the flesh but true sight is with faith.

You will never see these things wanting proof of the flesh it is only with the eyes of the spirit we will see them first hand.

I cannot of course speak for everyone because many have gone through their lives never seeing these things but scripture states blessed is he who believes without seeing.

I am speaking of the infilling of the Holy Ghost that is available to all since the birth of the New Testament church. I noted the scriptures that include speaking in tongues as the evidence of the infilling. Are you aware of scriptures that note any other evidence accompanying the indwelling of the Holy Ghost?

Well the gift of tongues was evidence for the apostles but not all are given the gift of tongues upon receiving the holy spirit

Many have failed to prove their points.
The fact of the matter is you have failed to listen and receive. You need to understand that in order to be proven right or wrong you need to actually be willing to be proven wrong or right.
I know you were in the Pentecost church and yes there are many that are fake I visited one myself but you still shouldn't shut your eyes and heart to these things because of false believers.

Don believe or not believe based on others but what you know of God. I honestly do not understand because you ask for evidence and you speak so higfhly of the scriptures but when presented with scriptures and evidence you dismisss it as if already set in stone to not listen to anything even if people provide what you ask.

What is the point of demanding scripture and proof and even debating if you never intended to listen to begin with? I am just genuinely confused.

You would prove me wrong in love for Christ if you could.
Actually, I meant exactly what I stated and that is that I have no desire to prove you wrong if it meant hurting you or anyone else for that matter. I would be perfectly happy if you proved to be right as I did so acknowledge in an earlier response to you in the Ezekiel temple thread.

Always the wise one aren't you my friend? Slow to speak but when you do it is always with wisdom and profound I hope one day I can be more like you as I think I speak to quickly and with less wisdom XD

Certainly, you place truth above feelings? What if Jesus held your views?

I skim posts when I know a person's position. It's not necessary to wade through it time and again.

Dave, if the faith is only sparingly, then the healing is only sparingly. Jesus himself could not heal many because of their lack of faith.

This is not biblical tongues. Possibly a form of demon possession. Tongues were a language only God understood and those who interpreted.
Dave, if the faith is only sparingly, then the healing is only sparingly. Jesus himself could not heal many because of their lack of faith.
I assure you it was as the speaker did not learn that language and the outcome was the person was saved or ministered to by the Lord. Dave, I know you don't like it but you might as well be telling the blind who sees that he really doesn't and is only fooled into seeing or the lame woman we prayed for who got up and walked that she had better sit down because she is not really walking at all as God stopped doing that.

He doesn’t speak ONLY through scripture.
If you hear a spirit say something contradictory to Scripture, do you follow it?
If you haven’t heard God speak, you should find a quiet place and empty your mind and allow the Lord to fill it.
That's how cults operate. They first empty your mind (from previous teachings) so they can fill it (with their garbage).
