Had an fascinating conversation with a friend tonight and hereby proclaim that wisdom is far superior than knowledge. Any thoughts?

Knowledge can build an atomic bomb. Wisdom tells you how you should use such technology. Definitely wisdom is superior.

You can share a ton of knowledge with another person..

If that person has Wisdom they can make good use of the knowledge and the knowledge will be a blessing to them and to others around them..

If the person lacks wisdom the knowledge will only cause that person confusion and they will end up mocking or attacking the knowledge that has been shared with them..

There are three gifts that usually work together in our walk with God.
Knowledge [knowing hidden things that have been revealed by the Holy Spirit]
Understanding [ Getting an understanding of why these things have happened]
Wisdom [knowing how to deal with, what has been revealed, through the holy Spirit]

Job 28:28
Behold, the fear of the LORD, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.

Many professing Christians lack this wisdom and understanding because a certain doctrine (Once Saved, Always Saved) removes a true fear of God out of them and they never truly depart from evil; they remain part-time evil doers by their own admission.

1 Corinthians 1:19
I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.

1 Corinthians 3:19
For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.

James 1:5
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith...

Jeremiah 8:9
The wise men are ashamed, they are dismayed and taken: lo, they have rejected the word of the LORD; and what wisdom is in them?

My thoughts are that without knowledge there would be no need for wisdom. Wisdom is utilized in the application of knowledge.

Your comment provoked a thought so allow me to sidestep outside the realm of faith. Is instinct knowledge or wisdom, and if it’s wisdom, then is it applied without knowledge?

Interesting question. I would say that instinct is a form of knowledge. Of course, even animals have instinct but probably do not have wisdom as they would react to a certain situation without considering the consequences or a better course of action.

Knowledge is rote memorization such as dates, history, using formulas, etc.

Wisdom is critical thinking. It is thinking outside the box. It's putting knowledge to use and understanding nonsense verses knowledge.

Yes so far so good but one commandment of Jesus
which is love the Lord your God with all your heart
and your neighbor as yourself. We can be the brightest
the wisest and best ever born but without love we are
nothing at all. Scripture says love fulfils the law so if
we don't love, we don't know God.

Yes but how do you know what to love or come to understand what to love?

My apologies. I thought the title of the thread was about knowledge vs wisdom. PS: These are gifts of the Spirit. Love is a fruit.
