Love greatly hungers and desires to love and be loved.....

God is LOVE......just think about how much God hungers and desires our love........:love:(y)

God deserves our love, how selfish to withhold it from Him....:love:

I agree for the most part. I say if people want to fear God, they have the right to do so.
However the Spirit of God will elude them all their days on earth. Of course it does not
disqualify them from heaven. but they remain in the flesh. When we surrender to God
completely as scripture says we become in a new creation in God. meaning we are no
longer in the flesh we are living in the Spirit. God is in us and we are in Him and I love
Him as my Divine Daddy. How can that intimacy include fear.

I think context determines what fear is being focused on....for example...

a. Paul said it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the Living God....therefore we persuade men.

He is obviously speaking of actual fear and terror based upon the context the words are framed in and what experience is being referenced.

B. Jesus said..."I will tell you who you should fear, He that has power to kill and then cast into hell."

This is actual fear as well, because the context is the loss kf life and being thrown into hell as a lost man.

c. Fear is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. Also The FEAR of the LORD IS CLEAN, it endures forever.

I believe this represents a reverential fear that guides a believer and is similar to the same fear that a child would have of a father....A fear that leads to growth, understanding, maturity

d. The angel flies through heaven prolaiming the everlasting gospel, “Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water.”

This fear points squarely at those on the planet that are about to be burned and judged by the fiery indignation of God. And calls for repentance and the acknowledgement of God as God!

E. And then the verse some have quoted about Love casting out all fear.....

Love is a process of growth
and maturity and when one has matured to the point that LOVE has been perfected (matured) in them, they can no longer fear the judgement of God in the form or chastening because they walk in a manner that pleases the Heavenly Father.

Of course this is the jist and the bible has much to say on the subject......context determines the direction we should take with the word and it's application!
I believe this spells out the issue pretty well and we really should look at how words are used in Scripture and view them in context.

I love God with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength. I refer to Him as Father God ... "Abba" at times, but mostly as Father God out of respect for Him.

Being a parent and having raised children, I wanted my children to acknowledge me as "mom" for the most part. Other times, I wanted them to respect that I am the parent and they are the child and, yes, be afraid of what I may or may not do in any given situation.

I cannot imagine having my children afraid of me 24/7. I wanted the "mom" moments where we curled up in our snuggle down chair and talked about things that were going on in their lives.

I am so thankful to God that He loves us so much that He wants a relationship with us ... be it that "fearful" moment ... or the moment where we are encouraged to come to Him and have Him hold us close to His heart.

Would like to have input...
As a Christian, do you believe the fear of the LORD is different for the believer than the unbeliever.

Most Christians believe that the fear of the LORD is to be "afraid of him". Some Christians believe that the fear of the LORD is to reverence him.

I would love your input on the subject.
I think fear of the LORD can be both, a Godly fear, at the same time have reverence towards him. Dedication makes the difference when it comes to fear of the LORD, the most devoted show the most "fear" unbelievers do not have any reverence towards God but rather the opposite.

In the beginning, reverence to the Lord was necessary for God to
be in control. As it evolved, Christ crucified, made love our only commandment.
So once we have become a new creation and are alive in the Spirit, God is in us
and we are in God. So if God is in us, will someone believe He fears Himself.

1 John 4:16
God is love and he who lives in love, lives in God
and God lives in them.
