It seems to be speaking more of pondering about God, rather than communing with God.

So, I'm thinking that "communing with my own heart" is to search my heart and make sure there is no wicked thing in it......we are to guard our hearts and keep a close eye on it.

All is correct except, Elimelech was Naomi's husband. Mahlon and Boaz were the two husbands of Ruth.

Yes, Boaz is in the lineage of Christ and yes Naomi wanted to change her name to Mara because her husband and two sons had all died in Moab which made Naomi feel the Lord had dealt bitterly with her.
