John
12:37 But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:
12:38 That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?
12:39 Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,
12:40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with [their] eyes, nor understand with [their] heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.
12:41 These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.

We see that disbelief came first. It preceeded they eyes being blinded and their hearts being hardened.
We are all in disbelieve until God gives us faith to believe...

Hebrews 3
15 While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.

16 For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.

17 But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?

18 And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?

19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

I agree...Not everyone is called to go OUT to the end of the world and preach , yet we are told to be the salt of the earth...
I am a witness to my unsaved children , by my behaviour and how the Holy Spirit has me to walk , and I am sorry if you took my post that I was being judgemental , that was not my intention...

As I said in another post , God has mercy on whom He chooses , and hardens whom He chooses...

We do not know who is called , hence why we should plant our seeds...

Hey sis, just heard a message on salt of the earth. Jesus said we ARE the salt of the earth, never saw it in that light before but the preacher was spot on!

Actually, John 3:16 pretty much includes everyone which is why I really see no point in a debate such as this.

However, you really need to look a little deeper. IF God chooses not to give faith, then we cannot blame anyone for not responding.

The hardening of Pharaoh's heart is attributed to Pharaoh's choice when he refused and continued to refuse. God knew Pharaoh's heart all along. He didn't suddenly hit him with a contrary nature.

God knows who will respond and who will not respond in a positive manner. To simply create nasty people, in His own image mind you (geez, is God nasty?) would make God capricious to say the least. By the Holy Spirit within me, I can pretty much tell when a person is responding and when they are hardening their heart. I don't press issues and time may or not give a change.

To state in a simplified manner that everything that happens is God is to forfeit a proper understanding of both the nature of God and our own response to Him.

This seems to be your battle-cry. Nothing in the Bible pertains to you.
So you resort to ad hominem?

I'm just showing you've taken Scripture out of context several times and they don't prove your case. If you want to slight my person for it that's all on you and is inappropriate.

I'm simply pointing out some errors you've made by misusing and misapplying texts.

Amen...
We are the salt , and what does salt do , it draws up all kinds of things when being used , but left on its own , it loses its flavour...
We do not know who is being drawn to us by being the salt , only God knows...

So is this not suggesting that people harden their own hearts because of unbelief? If he is drawing someone and they choose to harden their heart and not accept Him...then that is unbelief.

Today if you will hear his voice harden not your hearts.... seems to be showing that we have a choice. If God is drawing you can choose to accept his call and believe or choose to harden your hearts.

It is. Just like the whole NT is.
No, actually it isn't.

You are failing yet again to implement 2 Timothy 2:15.

I think that any further engagement would only be profitable if you would submit to using Scripture in context, not out of context as you have been doing.

Apparently you aren't willing to do so at this time. Nor will you answer questions of what you believe a doctrine teaches, a doctrine you've maligned due to unfamiliarity.

No hard feelings, but I think it best to move on to more profitable engagements with those who desire to do so by usage of facts, truth, integrity and in context Scripture.

Yep. I was corrected by that message. He said Jesus didn't ask us to be salt, He said we are salt. (y)

Here is what I believe, and am totally unshakable in these truths
Doctrines of Grace or TULIP
T - total depravity of man
U - Unconditional election of the saints
L - Limited atonement
I - Irresistable Grace
P - preservation of the saints (once saved always saved.

the 5 Solas
sola scriptura the bible alone as our only source for faith and morals
sola gratia grace alone
sola fide faith alone
sola Christos Christ alone
soli deo gloria glory to God alone

The ONE true God eternally exists as three distinct Persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal, co-eternal, and one in essence.

and in the eschatology of Amillianism
That salutation doesn't invite a discussion now does it? You're totally unshakable in what you perceive are these truths.
What's your real point?

well lets see......ahhhh...NOT everybody IS saved. Some pots were MADE FOR destruction, some for Glory...hmmmm Romans 9
That's sad.
That means when we read what Hell is and when it opens to receive souls, those souls don't need to be judged because they're already predestined to go there.
Sorta puts the kibosh on the benevolent God profile. Sounds more like Satan to me.

It's worse than that Soggy. Calvin did not even invent the 5 points or 'tulip' as it is often referred to. So actually, people are following the Synod of Dort. That particular event occurred in response to one Jacobus Arminius. Some in this following were against certain points of Calvin's, but they did not know nuthin bout no tulips and may never have been to Holland.

disclaimer: not arguing against Calvinism, the good people here can make up their own minds

not arguing for Mr Arminius cause I can't squeeze the whole truth and nothing but the truth out of him either :cautious:
