Comment: I just now tried to learn more about Arius and his doctrines. It took a while to finally see that he didn't have an essentially correct understanding of the trinity of God.
I read about Arius just now, in this article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arius
It was this paragraph that helped me see clearly that this is the case, with Arius:
"Arius emphasized the supremacy and uniqueness of God the Father, meaning that the Father alone is infinite and eternal and almighty, and that therefore the Father's divinity must be greater than the Son's. Arius taught that the Son had a beginning, contrary to Origen, who taught that the Son was less than the Father only in power, but not in time. Arius maintained that the Son possessed neither the eternity nor the true divinity of the Father, but was rather made "God" only by the Father's permission and power, and that the Logos was rather the very first and the most perfect of God's productions, before ages."

Correct. The heresy is called Arianism. There are several cults today which promote Arianism or modifications thereof.

There was a huge controversy regarding Arius and as a result there was a Church or Ecumenical Council which dealt with this issue -- the Council of Nicaea in 325 AD.

The matter of the Triune God is too much for the human mind. From men's haughty attempt to understand an unfathomable God spring all the folly about the ONE God Who is THREE distinct, equal, co-existing and co-inhering Persons but Who have a distinct internal Government. Best for the Christian is to bow and admit a God that has attributes that quickly bring his human intellect to its boundaries.

The Holy Trinity is a CORNERSTONE of Christianity. Those who deny the Holy Trinity do so at their own peril.

The Gospel of John firmly identifies, defines, and establishes the Truth of the Holy Trinity. (perhaps, that is why there are those who would be happy to see John's Gospel removed from the Bible?)

Thanks for sharing what you know on the subject! I didn't know there were ones around who still follow those things of Arius!
