1 John 3:15 is not saying "love others as we are loved".

15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

It is quite clear what John is saying there correct?
This is not about losing salvation.
John wants them to know what love looks like and what it does not look like.

I was just asking you to explain how you would understand that verse. You are free to decline to do so.

No one is arguing with you unless you want to.
Yes, you really are. You are asking me the same thing over and over and I have explained over and over.

One can love a brother and still not love their message. You are saying I am wrong. Thus, nothing else left to say. You are mincing words.

How do you get "One can love a brother and still not love their message" from 1 John 3:15?

Are you even reading the verse? "Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him

it is saying that if you hate your brother -- you do not have Eternal Life.

Love One Another
…14We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love our brothers. The one who does not love remains in death. 15Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that eternal life does not reside in a murderer. 16By this we know what love is: Jesus laid down His life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.…

hope that helps. :)

Yes, I wonder why these 2 don't want to say what that verse literally says.

It is fine if they say it, but later on claim "But I am sure John does not mean what he is saying there because Paul said yada yada yada" ;)

Your mocking tone tells me not to engage.

I understand this verse in context very well..... and it is tragic that you keep trying to find verses that prove salvation is not secure in the this hyper-dispensationalism of yours.

If you think you have to "endure to the end" to be spiritually saved, it is your choice to continue in that false teaching, we have tried to show you otherwise.

I was not mocking you, I am trying to understand how someone like you read and understand 1 John 3:15.

I respected honesty in VCO when he acknowledged that aspect of 1 John 3:15, without criticizing his understanding. If I indeed had that mocking tone as you claimed, I would not have done that.

I don't believe we need to endure to the end, because like you, I believe our salvation doctrine is from Paul's letters, Romans to Philemon.

But the difference between us, is that I am able to understand what John was saying in 1 John, without reading Paul into what he was saying.

What is he stating then in your interpretation?

No offense intended. As the saying goes, IT IS AS PLAIN AS THE NOSE ON YOUR FACE.

BUT verse 14 absolutely must be read with verse 15:

1 John 3:14-15 (HCSB)
14 We know that we have passed from death to life because we love our brothers. The one who does not love remains in death.
15 Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life residing in him.

There is no BIG SIN compared to a LITTLE SIN, is GOD's EYES. HE considers HATING to be EQUAL TO MURDER. Only mankind thinks of HIS SIN as less than someone else's SIN, NOT GOD! I was a Volunteer Protestant Prison Chaplain for 15 years of my life, in two different Supermax Prisons. I used to tell the inmates, "There is no Big Sin, Little SIN in the site of GOD. THOSE SINS ARE ALL EQUALLY BAD, in HIS site. The Worst Mass Murderer on Death Row, is NOT a worse Sinner than us. WE ARE AS BAD AS HIM. Strictly because of this VERSE:"

James 2:10 (NIV)
10 For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.

One so-called LITTLE SIN and YOU are GUILTY of breaking EVERY LAW IN THE BIBLE.

YOU CAN NEVER DO ENOUGH TO PAY FOR EVEN ONE OF YOUR SINS, YOU DESPERATELY NEED A SAVIOR!

That is what it is all about. JESUS PAID FOR ALL OF OUR SINS, ALL TO JESUS I OWE.

Please watch this video all the way through.

That is WHAT OSAS, means to our HEARTS, and we would not want it any other WAY.

I thank the one who turned me on to this OSAS Song.

Wait, now you are saying you also believe OSAS, after you stated that you also believe that if one hates his brother, he will no longer have eternal life?

How can you hold on to both beliefs at the same time?

I did not say that.
HE DECEIVED HIMSELF INTO THINK HE WAS REALLY BORN AGAIN, WHEN HIS HATRED PROOFS HE NEVER WAS BORN AGAIN.

When the Holy spirit Comes into our heart, HE CHANGES IT TO BE LIKE HIM. And HE WILL NEVER GO BACK.

You will NEVER experience the OSAS LIFESTYLE, as long as YOU insist to keep a Part of yourself just for YOU. JESUS want all of You to Surrender, NOT PART OF YOU. THIS VERSE THEN IS ABSOLUTE 100% TRUE.:

1 John 2:19-20 (NRSV)
19 They went out from us, but they did not belong to us; for if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us. But by going out they made it plain that none of them belongs to us.
20 But you have been anointed by the Holy One, and all of you have knowledge.

Oh, so if I accept Christ this year 2020, but say next year 2021, I find myself hating a brother whom I just met in 2021, was I really saved in 2020, according to your view?
