No TV or movies?

Have you too noticed all of the unpleasantness in TV and movies? Do you like hearing OMG, which in my opinion is taking God's name in vain, or hearing the profanities? Do you want to end up with such a mouth? Do you like the scenes of blood and gore? Then why would you listen and watch? Are you filling your minds with such unpleasantries? Are there any secular shows on TV that do not have these unpleasantries? Is Satan deceiving you and everybody else?

Romans 12:2 Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Phillipians 4:8 ... whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

I don't like much modern TV including mainstream news because of it's blatant political biases.
Older movies were much better. Hollywood churns out mostly crap in recent years. They rely so heavily on special effects they seem to have forgotten to pursue excellence in other areas. Also there is too much re-framing of old stories to suit a politically correct viewpoint.

I can only take so much blood & gore myself. I'm a bit on the squeamish side
The return of Jesus is going to be bloody and violent though. I don't want to insulate myself too much from reality.
Even the portrayal of his first coming requires some gore to make an accurate depiction.

I agree. The entertainment industry is all about making money so they have to keep coming up with shocking stuff and over the top special effects to sell their junk. It is also a source of Satanic propaganda and deception. We live in a world of lies.

I have gone back to watching old movies and TV shows that are well made and promote virtuous qualities like courage and integrity and the laws of divine establishment.

No surprise to see the easy believism crowd defending sin yet again by taking a verse out of context to justify them watching garbage instead of just admitting its WRONG.

Modern TV, movies and games are mostly based on the profound principles of Satan. They are an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, a hand for a hand, and a foot for a foot. If you can see clearly, this is the way the world is under the power of Satan. It's just that people are not aware of this problem and are used to it.

Keeping pure things to feed the mind was what the Jews were to learn as they were to keep the food for the body only from animals that didn't eat garbage. The Lord said that food for the body was eliminated, but God taught that food for the mind was not.

“For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” (Proverbs 23:7)

A study of the subconscious mind makes watching TV scary. The mind doesn't keep everything in conscious memory, but whatever is put into it is still retained. This is true of young children. We learn best when the mind is very quiet, like we are as we are absorbed in an interesting TV program. Children have this sort of quietness, that is why they learn so much as they grow.

At the time scripture was written, men thought the heart operated as we know the brain does.

A good thread.

The more that we worship the Lord and seek His face, the more we enjoy the mind of Christ the less we will tolerate whatever is contrary to that peace and purity.

Only when we allow it to go on and justify it by listening to the serpent hiss in our ears "you surely shall not die" do we then become anesthetized to it. After a several days in the Word of God and prayer or after we come home from encountering deep moves of the Spirit in church we are spiritually minded and as we begin to turn on the TV we immediately recognize the spiritual atmosphere change in our home and so we quickly turn it off and think, 'I can do better than that,' and we turn on some deeply Christ honoring anointed music and decide to sit on the porch and meditate on the Word.

It is not what we "Don't Do" anymore as much as it is finding that we love something better and discovering that we can't do both at the same time. Therefore we ask ourselves 'do we want to stay in the atmosphere of holiness and the mind of Christ or will we bombard our senses with impure thoughts and fill our homes with the din of demons and try to convince ourselves that we are immune to it all and that it does not effect us or grieve the Holy Spirit'? That kind of thought life is lying against reality and creates stress at the subconscious level as your subconscious knows intuitively that you are being dishonest with yourself and trying to believe a lie. Thus the peace that floods the soul when you decide to not believe the lie and keep it turned off and focus on spiritual thoughts instead.

As you choose each day to reject the voice of the hissing serpent, one choice at a time and as you build on each victory strengthening resolve and having a conscience exercised in righteousness, soon you will wonder how you could have ever been so callused as to have tolerated such a cesspool of evil and called it entertainment. You will shudder at the memory and thank the Lord for translating you out of the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of Light.

You are still being transformed day by day. Keep the progress moving forward by being sensitive to the Holy Spirit and what grieves the Holy Spirit. When the Spirit is grieved do not quench the Spirit but respond in faith and you will never regret it. This is the reality of the battle we are in and the work of sanctification that is ongoing. There are so many levels of unspeakable joy that awaits those that are willing to respond in faith to go deeper in following the Spirit of Holiness and separate themselves from the corruption that in this world.

How reassuring it is to here someone say we are misled and oppressed and those who refuse to do evil are made into a prey, and how depressing it is in this context to read- they will follow their own desires and surround themselves with people who tell them what they want to here. Which is Christ is coming, wait for the lord, wait for the lord, or the inversion this is the plan for the whole world, death and seperation from the world IS the salvation. (for he was numbered with the transgressors/ his life was taken from the earth.- you who tear yourself to pieces in your anger, should the earth be abandoned for your sake? must the rocks be moved from their place?

I definitely take no issue with watching shows that contain violence.

The Bible is full of very violent and bloody events.

I have no issue watching horror films because the Bible has stories of witches, demons, and so on.

I have no issue watching fantasy since the Bible talks about God going to war with multiheaded sea dragons.

The Song of Songs is a fairly graphic story full of sexual symbolism. It was even customary for Jewish kids to not be allowed to read it until they were older and more mature.

Sometimes certain paradigms reminds me of the Pharisees. Very much doing outward appearances and learning the verses all the while avoiding dealing with their sin and being stuck in legalism while ignoring the very examples of it in scripture.

There is a BIG difference. Our God fights the evil that harms us, and each verse about this fight is an example of protecting people from being harmed by that evil. It is not written for entertainment as all the showing of living without any awareness of God is shown by the media.

I haven't seen a TV program for over three years, now. I have read interesting books and not one shows killing or sex outside of marriage. It is like sweeping the cobwebs away when you don't feed the mind garbage. Garbage in the mind acts as a barrier between you and the Lord, I found. There is a profound joy in everything of the Lord.

we all work out our own salvation. He does not condemn. One has to freely make the choice. He never ever forces you. Not watching some real evil shows duh always helps. Yet does not make one more holy or the like if you never watch them. Paul is a great example here how he talked about self. The second we make it about us.. where we take the glory.. thats it.. thats our reward.

There was someone that only read the word and prayed all the time.. always in prayer. You would NEVER have know it unless you were with him. He never once said a word other then the bible is the only book He read. He never took the glory. There are many things in this world that are sin for one but not sin for another. Satan knows his time is short and.. its the YOUNG we should pray for.

That being said.. oh praise GOD He is raising up a YOUNG generation like no other that are 100% sold out to HIM! He is coming very very soon! Be ready.

Have no stomach to watch anything anymore, and honestly, don't miss it. Movies and series, it's all filled with perversity and indoctrination. Commercial music, even worse. News and shows, it's either fear factory, or vapid content that steals time from people and gives nothing of value in return. I might watch an occasional home improvement show. I haven't really watched TV since early high school. This isn't a type of thing that you can smack people into, they need to get there individually.

For me I recognize it all as fiction. So when I watch something like Game of Thrones I have no reason to feel any conviction because I could recreate a similar story using biblical parallels.

They need to get there individually.
The idea of redeeming man one at a time is either; we have to see christ slain to restore us... again, or we finish the work for which we are called. Address the oppression of everyman and quickly.

You believe b/c you have seen, blessed are those who believe but have not seen.

Any ideas?

I don't know what you're talking about. I gave my own testimony on the subject, as a food for thought for other believers. What is the problem?
