certainly, The Spirit and the flesh are in 'constant contention',
as it is written;
GAL. 5:17.
'For the flesh lusts against The Spirit, and The Spirit against the flesh:
and these are contrary the one to the other: so that you cannot do the things that you would'
IF,
we strive to 'over-come', sometimes we will 'lose the battle', and sometimes we will 'win the battle',
but, with Jesus Christ as our Helper,
PHIL. 4:13.
I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.
this means, as Romans 7 tells us, 'there is a constant 'battle', but IF we REMAIN in Christ Jesus,
then He will always be there to help us 'over-come' our 'flesh-nature' -
this is how we can see our new 'reflection' in the mirror of God...
Trust and Faith placed and maintained exclusively in Christ and Him Crucified gives the Holy Spirit the legal means to keep the sin nature dormant (Rom. 8:2). Adding wonderful Christian disciplines and religious activity to the Atoning Perfect Sacrifice will cause the works of the flesh to manifest (Gal. 5:19-21).

just curious, are you implying that 'over-coming' is NOT in Yeshua's equation???

Without our trust and Faith placed and maintained exclusively in Christ and the Cross (The Blood of Jesus), we only have a form of godliness (which is the law of sin and death - grace stops - 99.9999% of Christians have only a form - they proclaim Christ while forsaking the Cross - spiritual adultery: Rom. 7:1-4). Why? Because the power of God is in the Cross of Christ (1 Cor. 1:17-18, 1 Cor. 2:2).

We only overcome by the Blood (the Cross) of the Lamb (God Beloved Son Jesus Christ) and the word of our testimony. Our testimony must never change and always be Faith in Christ and Him Crucified!!!!!!!

No other way does God the Father consider the Christian humble. If we bypass the Cross we enter death.

Lev. 17:11

“11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood (it should be translated “for the soul of the flesh is in the blood”; the Hebrew word here rendered “life” occurs twice more in this very Verse, and is properly translated “soul”): and I have given it to you upon the Altar to make an Atonement for your souls: for it is the blood (the Blood of Christ) that makes an Atonement for the soul. (This latter phrase plainly and purely tells us that the Death of Christ on the Cross, which was brought about by the shedding of His Precious Blood, which means that in the shedding of His Blood, His Life poured out, is not only the means of Salvation, but, in fact, is the only means of Salvation.

The expositor says: “When man duly takes his place as one possessing no title whatsoever to life — when he fully recognizes God’s claims upon him, then the Divine record is, ’I have given you the life to make an Atonement for your soul.’ Yes, Atonement is God’s gift to man; and be it carefully noted that this Atonement is in the Blood, and only in the Blood and we speak of the Blood of Christ. It is not the Blood and something else. The Word is most explicit. It attributes Atonement exclusively to the Blood” [Heb. 9:22; Eph. 1:7; Col. 1:14; I Jn. 1:6; Rev., Chpt. 12].)”

It is by "Grace" through "Faith" that the "Temple" is built. The "Temple was to be built under Solomon; not the sound of a hammer, not the sound of a tool, i.e., not one sound of mans labor.

The only thing that God will accept from any Believer is "Faith" in His Son Jesus and the Cross of Calvary where the victory was won, i.e., The Finished Work, i.e., The Blood of Jesus.

Because the Believer is in Christ, all commandments are kept by the Holy Spirit which is impossible for any Believer to keep. If Christ is a law-keeper than the Believer is a law-keeper.

Again It is by "Grace" through "Faith" that the "Temple" is built. Not by labor - not by performance - not by Christian disciplines.

We must not stop the "Golden Oil" coming from the "Bowl of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit" that has seven pipes leading into our earthly vessels - both the will and to do. In this “sevenfold fullness,” we find all the “help” that we need in order to live this life and to be what we ought to be in the Lord ((Isa. 11:1-2, Zechariah 4:1-14, Jn. 14:16-18, Rev. 5:6).

Tragically, the modern Church seeks to live for God without the help of this “sevenfold fullness.” Even though the Holy Spirit most definitely resides in the heart and life of every single Believer, irrespective of the spiritual condition of such a Believer, still, what He can do is only potential. In other words, His help is not automatic.

But every single Believer can have this “sevenfold fullness” if the Believer will place his faith absolutely and exclusively in the Cross. The Holy Spirit always works within the parameters of the Finished Work of Christ. The Cross ever being the Object of our Faith, then the Holy Spirit will work mightily on our behalf, giving us the benefit of “His sevenfold fullness,” but only if our faith is properly placed in Christ and the Cross. He tells us this in Romans 8:2.”

His sevenfold fullness.” Those attributes are: “Spirit, Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Might, Knowledge, and Fear.”

Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shall you dwell in the land, and verily you shall be fed (in other words, don’t look to the wicked or at the wicked, but rather “the Lord,” and in Him put your “trust”).

Delight yourself also in the LORD: and He shall give you the desires of your heart (what a Promise!).

Commit your way unto the LORD; trust also in Him; and He shall bring it to pass.

And He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your judgment as the noonday (these things will ultimately be rewarded).

Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him: fret not yourself because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked devices to pass (in Verses 3-7 we have the four keys to a victorious life: “Trust,” “Delight,” “Commit,” and “Rest”). Psalms 37

This can only be done if the Believer places their Faith exclusively in Christ and His Finished Work at Calvary, i.e., The Cross, i.e., The Blood of Jesus (Romans 8:2). This allows the Holy Spirit who works strictly in the parameters of Christ and the Finished Work to accomplish this for us (Romans 8:2).

The Study of Righteousness - For with the heart man believes unto Righteousness...Romans 10:10

Psalms 33:4 and Proverbs 8:7-8 says, that every Word that God has ever spoken is in "Truth and in Righteousness." According to the gospel that Paul preached, "Righteousness is only awarded by God if our Faith is placed and maintained exclusively in Christ Jesus and the Finished Work of the Lamb of God at Calvary Cross (Rom. 4:5). Therefore, no man or woman can see, hear, or understand if "Righteousness is not awarded and will be operating from a make-believe and pretend salvation that Jesus says that they may have a name but they are dead (Rev. 3:1). Everything they have and everything in their life will become a hindrance to them because of the "Law of sin and death (Rom. 8:2)." Confusion - conflict, and death.

“Imputed Righteousness” is Righteousness that we do not earn, and cannot earn, and neither can we merit such. It is freely given to the believing sinner upon confession of Faith in Christ. It is the only type of Righteousness that God will accept because it’s based on the perfect Righteousness of Christ. It is obtained by evidencing Faith in Christ and His Perfect Sacrifice of Himself.

The Believer must understand if they bypass the Cross, i.e., the Sacrifice, i.e., the Blood of Jesus, then judgment must fall of them. Judgment will always fall on the Sacrifice or the one who calls himself a Believer.

Concerning this:

The Believer must understand that when God doesn't see the Believers heart exhibiting Faith in His beloved Son "The Lamb of God" in whom He is pleased, you have chosen another Jesus (2 Cor. 11:4) which produces strange fire and strange incenses.

When Aaron's sons Nadab & Abihu, Priests of God, ordained of God, called by God, and anointed by God - failed to take coals of fire from the Brazen Altar (A Type of Calvary), but from another source, and put those coals of fire on the Golden Altar, which sat immediately in front of the Veil, which hid the Holy of Holies, where God dwelt between the Mercy seat and the Cherubim. They were devoured by fire from the Holy of Holies. In other words, to do such was, in effect, to bypass Calvary, which God could not tolerate.

Man can come before God only on one premise, and that is by and through the shed Blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. That and that alone, which the Brazen Altar and its Sacrifices typified, gains entrance to God in any Form. When Jesus said, “No man cometh to the Father but by Me,” He was speaking of what He would do at the Cross of Calvary, which would make all of this possible (John 14:6).

If you bypass the Cross (The Lamb of God-The Blood of Jesus) you enter death!

I think Hebrews 6 helps understand how those get their foot out of the door . Having tasted of the works of Christ's and the age to come By Christ's faith working in mankind, giving creatures power to believe .

They having their foot in the door simply say; "no thanks , I will offer dead works coming from a dead. . faith . . .towards God" . like for instance. Why trust in his faith that works in us,?

Hebrews 6 King James Version (KJV) Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,

Dead works dead faith .Faith is a work. Nothing is directed towards God. It reflects back to the person offering it. as if they dead in their trespasses and sin were the source of faith.

They crucify Christ every time they fall from grace ...

Hebrews informs us of better thing then denying the grace of Christ. It the power to beleive acompanies salvation . He promises he will not forget the good works he works in us that we offer toward His power .Hebrew 6:9-10 . Many Like Jonas murmur .

Others hope to be found with a righteousness of their own. They continue to offer dead works towards heaven

Hebrews 6 King James Version (KJV) Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,

So to be justified we cannot earn it ,it is on the basis of Once believing the Gospel we are sealed by the Holy Spirit until the day of redemption , a free gift and that not of ourselves . But to remain saved we have to do works ? That makes getting saved easier than staying saved . Which would make suicide or dying early a surer option than remaining and messing it all up .
Interesting. This does change the message greatly . We are to persuade men by the dangers of dying in unbelief and that Jesus has died for their sins ,for them to simply believe the Gospel and recieve the free gift of salvation . The 'good news "' of what Jesus has already done . But then once they are in we say ' And now the bad news ' ?" you know how I said it was good news and you have learned about how bad hell is and for how long ect , well erm ...you could still end up there " , " What !!!! , I thought you said I would be saved . I thought you said it could not be earned , I thought it was 'eternal life ' not of works ? I thought Jesus had died for my sins ? "
" erm ..well if id mentioned all that at the beginning I thought you might be turned off , Don't worry ,I'm sure you will make it , just keep looking to Jesus "

HEB. 6:6.
If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing
they crucify to themselves (((The Son of God))) afresh, and put Him to an open 'shame'.
1COR. 6:9.
Know you not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the Kingdom of God?
Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,
ETC................................................
a True Christian cannot defile the 'grace of God' through their continual-'un-righteous', worldly behavior!!!

Getting saved and staying saved comes from his understanding as a labor of His love that works in us to both will and do his good pleasure .If he began the good work of salvation in us he will finish it. He is our confidence.
