Most of the time the hostility and biting that creeps into eschatological discussions is completely unwarranted, but like every area of theology there are eschatologies that are outright heretical.

As has been brought up previously, some forms of preterism would fall in that category. The future bodily resurrection and reconciliation of the entire world is the hope of Christianity so anything that denies that hope is denying the gospel. Of course, this is only a specific formulation and not all forms of preterism deny this hope.

Though even when someone speaks heresies heaping abuse on them is not meet. It might be a reason for disfellowship but personal attacks aren't justified.

We are the Temple of God indwelt with the Holy Spirit. Let us lay fruits of love down at the Alter of the Temple, surly the Lord will examine what we lay on that Alter, hatred or love he will recieve our offering in our behalf.

Attack the teaching, (Full Preterism) Is Heresy!

(Full Preterism) denies the future second coming of Jesus Christ and the future bodily resurrection of the believer, this is a false Heretical doctrine.

Gods words alone describe the individual teaching false doctrine seen below.

Romans 16:17-18KJV
17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.

We will disagree :)

Christ is here reigning in the hearts of his kingdom of priests. The gospel will be killed or silenced (God hiding his face) for a short while, until the last day under the Sun .

Makes me wonder like the query in Luke 18; "when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?" Or mankind walking after their own experiences as oral traditions of men. Possibly the last elected born again saint is called before the two witness were silenced, the law and the prophets, the one witness of God who hides his face .

Deuteronomy 32:19-21 King James Version (KJV) And he said, I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be: for they are a very froward generation, children in whom is no faith. They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God; they have provoked me to anger with their vanities: and I will move them to jealousy with those which are not a people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation.

I've been called names and was even denied salvation by some over eschatology differences.
I believe that nobody can indisputably prove what exactly will happen in the future...
Do you personally think it's justified to display that level of hostility towards others when it comes to this subject?
Have you had similar experiences, people getting ugly about differences in opinion about what's going to happen in the future?
When you come to the house of God, come forth rather to listen than to offer the sacrifice of those who do not know they do wrong.
The day will come when anyone who kills you will think they are offering God a service.

I'm not a big fan of the bible. To me it fails to represent God, mans love of God, or a path to a Godly civilization. Vainly does it imply we are here to find God, while it instructs us of Gods' requirements, knowing we come from God... I think if you wished to help someone you would be wasting your time quoting bible verses, so if you felt assaulted by someones biblical knowledge, consider the tone of your conversation, i.e. "I know more about the bible than you" or "Something is wrong in life, and the bible says its my own fault" Vain allusions spirituality are slathered in threats of loss or destruction of soul and celestial beings waiting in the spiritual bushes to cut you to pieces with your own beliefs.

We are a blessing on the earth, we live here against someones wishes, we are divided and made to eat one anothers spiritual flesh, but if you read the bible then tell me what this means to you; Shall the earth be abandoned for your sake? Shall the rocks be moved from their place? Who, you fathers would give your son a snake if asked for bread?

I have found that it is almost impossible to get people on this site to speak of scripture as it applies to any understanding of scripture. They almost always turn it into blaming people if they disagree on any scripture interpretation, rather than speaking of what they find in scripture.

I have given up on trying to get past this, they have firmly decided this is the way they will act.

I Believe we are talking about (Full Preterist) denying a future second coming and bodily resurrection of the believer.

Individuals try to hide behind the word (Eschatology) falsely as a victim, hiding their denial of the second coming and bodily resurrection of the believer.

(Full Preterism) Is Heretucal
Perfect example right here. Attack straight out of the gate. Are you the one that thinks what we believe about eschatology determines if we're saved or not?

perhaps you lean that way as you are not sure of your spiritual status?

however, we believe that the Bible is actually God's word. if you do not believe that, then why would you offer hope from something you do not believe in?

you do not actually represent scripture in the sense it is accepted from a Christian stand point

and now you appear to be in agreement with a non-believer

we are not under the law, we are washed by the blood of Christ and He alone is our atonement

who is the they? are 'they' the people who keep trying to point this out to you over and over, with patience and concern?

smh

The future second coming and bodily resurrection of the believer are major foundations of the Christian faith, doctrine that surpasses individual denominational lines.

(Full Preterism) denies both, and is another doctrine, not seen or taught in the scripture.

Thanks for your input and opinion, it's my opinion (Full Preterism) is Heretical (y)

And again

Romans 16:17-18KJV

18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.
And again
I will openly testify, I received the gift of speaking in other tongues 43 years ago while praying in my room privately, the gift is the same today.

When I see posters in denial of the gift for today it brings big smiles, can't deny something received and alive today, and that's the truth.
Nobody denied anything. The OP was about you and the hate crew attacking those you disagree with about eschatology, and your childish tail can't stop proving his point. NO ONE has said a thing about any actual belief, we were talking about the rude, foolish, divisive behavior you're demonstrating here. LOL wow you are thick.

I wish you'd grow up and realize you are so dead wrong about people's salvation depending on eschatology, you are just straight up as wrong as a person can possibly be about anything......, that's how wrong you are about this. You need to repent, because you're causing unrest in the body, and it's a slap in the face to our King. Seemingly because you are board. STOP IT!!!!!

Well there's still a lot here besides Bible discussion, on BDF I still do post in Speak Your Mind where we talk about coffee, but it is what it is. BFD pretty much it's always the same subjects spinning around and almost never is there a real study anyway. There's Prayer Requests, there is Miscellaneous I suppose.

I'm not even a preterist and it's quite disturbing to read how they are treated. I asked people to stay on subject and please refrain from discussing particular teachings here, but some are ignoring it.
And he does not even understand what it means "causing offence contrary to the doctrine".
It's not about merely being offended at incorrect teaching, but is about causing brethren to sin. "Offence" in the Bible largely means sin, and it is always used in that meaning throughout the Romans, which he quotes.
Jesus is the rock of offence because unbelievers will stumble upon Him and and fall in their sins; not the Rock of being offended.
That verse is about people like Jezebel from Revelation, destroying the church (causing division) and causing people to sin.
But what do I know...

The bible is the only text you can relate to a majority of people with, just as it's author knew when he penned the bloody death of christ and the bloody end of the world. We all however relate the suffering of our shared experience from an agreement that our lifes are not as they should be, now tell me what you read in the bible that will stop all the ills of the world?

Perhaps every minute i live my soul is being devoured by demons and lies, I should wonder, wouldn't it be more effective to present life as a fairy tale of fulfilling experiences to mask the destruction of our souls? Tell me of your spirituality. How do you quantify the condition of your soul, beyond allusions to intangiables like salvation, final disposition, redeemed...

quite a dramatic rendering, but it isn't mine

this would be the thread to ask those questions I suppose, but I don't think it fruitful and certainly not wise, to give in to feelings that may sweep over a person one day and the next that same person does not feel those burdens

one thing about the Bible. it does not vary from day to day, does not run on our feelings and does not change to suit us

in other words, according to the Bible, God does not change and is not swayed by our moods nor does He respond in kind. He is dependable, faithful, loving, kind and merciful. his word is final irregardless of whether or not we like it. God is many things but He is not one of us. He created us and we are in rebellion against Him

we can put down our rebellion and call upon Him and He will hear us and has already answered us. He has provided a way out of our situation and an answer to our sins which weigh us down and give us an outlook on life that is very negative

when people are down or 'depressed', things can appear very differently than they really are. even a non-Christian can have a good outlook on life if they are positive and do not dwell on negativity or blame others for their situation

however, a Christian has a hope, a belief, that transcends this world irregardless of current circumstances, but even a Christian can become depressed if they view their life through the lens of self-pity or blame.

there is also clinical depression, which a doctor would diagnose and there can be real help if a person suffers from such a thing

I am not a doctor, but I am a Christian and I cannot give to another what God has done for me. I can point a person to Christ but it is always up to the individual how they will respond. As a Christian, I can also suggest a depressed or despondent person seek out medical help.

Sometimes people prefer to wallow in their situation and blame others even though help is offered or available

Each person must decide their action and move forward, or, blame others and do nothing

The larger question is if God made everything, who would work against him, knowing he put us here? The bible paints seperation from God and being in a body as hell and punishment and we are sinners and rebels, why don't we just leave? Because we do not hate ourselves, we must be made to hate ourselves. Because we don't hate life, we must be made to hate life. These are all indicators someone doesn't want us to be here and our depression and negativity are certainly justified, though we may not be able to put our finger on why.
