Backstory, I feel God is leading me to quit my job...in the middle of a pandemic where unemployment is rampant and where people are struggling. I make close to six figures and the job has great benefits, etc. But I am MISERABLE there and I feel God has been telling me to leave for a while now. I don't have another job lined up. My family says it would be foolish to quit without another job. What say you?

What i would say is to find out what you want first. After you know what you want pray and agree that it is Gods will for you to have that thing. Then you go after it with the mindset that it is already established for you. You will be working from your goal not to it, if that makes any sense.

For example if you wanted to start being a you-tuber and your goal was to have 50k subscribers you would have to assume that in faith. You would do so by treating everything that you do based on your YouTube channel as though you had 50k subs. That means that you would talk to your audience as though they were 50k even though you have no viewers when you first start. You would spend a lot of time editing your vids making them look high quality, and you would even put the time into having a good upload schedule.
You would have to dedicate time and effort into it with the assumption that you already have the 50k subscribers without actually seeing the image of your assumption. Your only evidence of your assumption is your works. If you persist in your repetitions of doing this over and over again on a day to day basis your faith will become realized and become a fact for the world to see.

It's not just about hard work, but rather the purpose/faith from which you do them. When you do works based on faith you get results.

So yeah, find out what exactly you want first, then go for it in faith and purpose, believing that God has set it up for you.
And yea they called me fool too. Faith in motion is foolishness to most, just know that.

You're crazy, and that's what it takes .. However, you don't know what happens after the election .. If Biden gets in, look for big corporate tax hikes , more regulations, falling stock markets , probable layoffs .. If you have children think about it and remember ''that's why they call it work to begin with'' .. And why don't you test the market and put in some applications now while you have a job ? If God told you to quit then there's no question about it .. There's nothing wrong with making plans and being well prepared .. And how do you think it will it glorify God ? Think about why you hate your job now, is it something you need to or can change about your work habits, and did God have you there in the first place to work it out .. I quit the best job I ever had , I made it but my big lesson was quitting and not appreciating what I had to begin with .. Good luck and God Bless

Just wondering how God has lead you to quit your job. Is it a knowing, dream etc. Have you asked for confirmation??

I believe God has lead me by changing the desires of my heart. For years, my goals were to make the most money that I could and climb the corporate ladder as fast I can, etc. Over the last year and a half, no matter the promotions and raises that I've gotten I have been discontent and I have desired to use my talents to help people. God has shown me that money and status does not bring happiness. I've prayed for confirmation and feel God has confirmed in His word. But I still battle with fear of leaving a job with security (which truly is a false sense of security).

Yeah hard decision to make. Its always best to obey God as he may have a plan to change direction for you. Of course to make sure you could go part time. Half the time in the job you have and half the time in the direction you feel God may be taking you until you are absolutely sure.

My wife quit her job last year after more than one person told her that God said she must do it. God opened another door for her (which is now shut) but I still believe it was God's will for her to stop working. She was stressed to a point where she was getting ill from it.

Completely agree, great point.

I would also like to point out that I read in one of the forums, cause someone was wondering and stressing over if God wanted her to divorce her husband, sometimes the Devil can speak to us like God can, if it doesn’t sound like it came from God or does not fit his teachings, then no that’s probably not God. I think some common sense is good as well.

For example, when I was using dating websites, and then that failed, and then I joked to my friend CJ basically everything we have done could be considered dating as a way to be funny, but he didn’t see it as that, plus he got freaked out a bit because of his autism, so I told him to forget, and let us just be friends. But then thought of “marrying him” came to me, which I know is false because while we get along, he sometimes annoys me because we talk about the same stuff a lot and I honestly don’t see it working, he’s 30 and he can’t drive. I honestly see him living with his mom for the rest of his life, and that’s just how it is for him. He can be my friend, but nothing more, I have made a decision and I’m sticking with it. I might try Christian mingle later next year, but I’m honestly trying to enjoy life right now, cause it felt like trying to fill a hole, the hole being not having friends and not doing what I normally do, like running my Pokémon League, when my life right now is honestly great.

I believe God does guide and if you need help, then pray about it, but if it is not meant to be, then so be it. I was born with a disability, so I was never meant to be not disabled, and wishing to not be disabled is not healthy in my opinion, as an example to what I’m trying to say.

A lot of people choose to go the divorce route because it's easy. It's easy to give up when things don't go as planned.
The thing about living an easy mode/ give up all the time life is you don't really mature, learn or grow in faith. Those
are the ways of the world though, but with God's way is about patience, discipline and faith.

Yea you probably got his hopes up with that then right after friend-zoned him dang.... lol. I don't know much about dating sites
as i never tried them nor do i have the desire to date. It's good that your perspective on life is good right now because
usually when life sucks, more is added onto it to make it suck even more. When your mindset is that it's good you are more open
to receiving more good if that makes any kind of sense. Trying to fill the perception of empty holes just takes the life right out of a person, i know the feeling.

I agree too, God is always guiding us in 1 way or another.

No that’s not it, when I told him, he was thinking him paying for my movie tickets and getting me gifts is what friends do. In our 4, maybe even 6, years of friendship, we have gone to conventions, gave gifts, hanged out and watched movies, and even watched movies at the movie theater, and he never asked if he wanted me to be his girlfriend. He got nervous and was like “maybe I’ll start thinking about it”, but I texted him to forget cause I could tell I caused my friend stress. He has a hard time understanding and having deep thoughts, so that’s why I don’t think it would work too, besides the driving issue. All we talk about is nerd stuff, I wish I could talk about religion, politics, just something else besides nerd stuff. I like nerd stuff, but I am guaranteed to hear the exact same topic I heard him talk about last week, again.

I know it’s his disability and I will always be his friend, but only that, nothing deeper.

Well just as long as your both cool with it, i wasn't there so i can't judge anyways. And i get it, i have many friends like that,
some i can only talk money, business and cars or whatever but its just limited to those conversation topics. Different people for different topics i guess, not everyone can handle deep topics. It is possible though when they start asking questions or showing interest.

Yeah I get it, I just thought I clear it up, looking at his text back, he seemed happy cause it was basically “You got it 😄” with him asking if we can still go to conventions and whatnot, and for me to call him. So we are very much friends, that’s why I told him to forget what I said cause it seemed to only cause stress and worry to my friend, which was not my intention. I have never dated before, so when my mom explained all the things I do with CJ could be considered dating, I thought I could pull a fun joke, turns out I was wrong, and I won’t bring it back up. But CJ being my friend isn’t going to stop me, from hopefully finding that special man, but like we already know, it is ultimately up to God.

Yeah, I would honestly like to make more friends, I don’t have many and I suck at keeping up to date with my current friends, so I’ve been trying to change and CC has helped me a lot ^_^...also caused stress sometimes but hey, everything can be seen with pros and cons, lol

I was an IT Consultant making a very high hourly rate and the Lord called me to focus on fulltime ministry instead. I am in training and all my needs have been met as they have come up. I have no expectations to make the kind of money I was making but I don't care, I have no desire for things. My only desire is to give myself wholly to the preaching of the Word and that is much more satisfying than the things of this world that money can buy. It is not crazy to give up the things of this world that you cannot take with you for the eternal rewards that come with following the call of God.

My IT career was what most IT people dream of achieving but I knew I was called to preach the gospel and to devote my time to studying the Word instead of studying IT books and I too was miserable because I knew I was not doing what God had called me to do.

Now I am in fulltime ministry, enrolled in Bible School and working for a church with a goal to pastor, plant churches, evangelism, fulltime preaching and I have never been happier in my entire life. I am finally living that adventure that people who play video games wish their life was like.

It is sad how many people live a miserable slave drone life for a company with the hope of saving enough money to have a house and cars paid for and a few recreational toys to keep them entertained and call it a good life. They think they are successful if they can put their kids through college and save enough to have a house by the lake and leave a little money for their kids when they die. None of that has any eternal value. And many people are miserable wondering "is this all there is?"

I was at my sisters house and it was sunday I wanted to go to church but have to walk everywhere luckily there was small church in walkable distance and I decided to try it out, I always tell God I may not be strong I may not be wise I may not be righteous or pure but I am willing so please use my willingness I said this to him heading up there this is where the phrase be careful what you wish for comes into play I entered and was greeted with a lot of kindness but I learned many people there have lost people in life recently or had people who were severely ill or had cancer ect. They did a fantastic job at hiding their pain but I always look at the heart and knew the damage that was inside.

I went to the sermon and about half way through I felt the spirit promting me to get up on stage and speak to everyone I had never done anything like this before nor have I spoken in front of people but I just felt like I absolutely had to and waited for the pastor to be done with his sermon and I asked him if I could get in front of everyone and speak he looked at his watch as if he was in a hurry but said ok just make it quick

I didn't know what I was going to say I just followed the spirits lead and the words just flowed I spoke of the heart and how the inner wounds cut deeper than any physical wound and are also the most difficult to heal but that these kind of wounds while very deep are also what bind us together because those who have known this kind of pain are able to understand and help others who have known the same pain and how God uses such wounds to heal others I don't really remember the rest of the speech but after I spoke to my astonishment everyone stood and appluaded tears were flowing and I could see inner wounds being mended a spark was created in these people and everyone came up to me telling me how amazing my words were how they felt God's gentle hand heal their pain and of course I told them that the words were not my own but that the credit is to God.

I have never done this before but by following his lead something beautiful happened

The answer is Yes. God will call us to do what the world and even other Christians will call crazy. Especially in this context of jobs and income. Everyone is chasing the American Dream and it has become almost a "christian value" to be responsible to save for retirment and to put your kids through college or your are worse than an infidel. We have to resist such a mindset that is not scriptural at all. It is far more likely that saving money for retirement is more sinful than giving it all way for the kingdom of God as fast as the Lord blesses you with it. But people will, with much fair words, and wise sounding counsel try to convince you that your chief goal in life is to provide for your wife and kids, which is code for "make enough money so they can have all the nice things" And this is not your chief goal in life. Obeying God and sharing the eternal Gospel is what you should focus on. Eternal, inward goals not external temporary goals. The Lord will provide your needs as they arise and He is not concerned with you having a huge store laid up to provide for those needs. Sounds crazy to most people. Most people are anxious about many things but those that sit at the feet of Jesus and hear his Words and obey them, which includes His words about not storing up for yourself but being rich toward God, these people have chosen that which is most excellent and they will be rewarded in this life and the next.

I would say to give the job a chance. Also, accept that if you do find another job it may not work out either and you will probably making considerable less money. Not sure at all if God is telling you to quit this job at this time or at all. Why are you miserable there?

I believe that the confirmation aspect that you pointed out is critical and can be applied to other things that God may call us to do or not to do. Excellent point.

My wife quit her job last year after more than one person told her that God said she must do it. God opened another door for her (which is now shut) but I still believe it was God's will for her to stop working. She was stressed to a point where she was getting ill from it.
I had a high stress job once. Each morning when I walked in the door I thought to myself that I can't do this anymore. Then I got promoted.
