somoeone posted a list of teachers including Doreen Virtue?? Shes new age.

What you do, is get yourself a copy of the Bible...and READ it.

All teachers can do is encourage you to read it. Teachers must set aside all their thoughts and opinions and show by doing what the Bible says, as Jesus did. But its no substitute for reading the whole thing yourself, every day, praying and allowing God to teach you through His word.

if you cannot find time to read the Bible, MAKE time. one gets better at reading the more one does it. If you read the Bible out loud, other people can learn from hearing it. But its much better when everyone has their own copy and can go at their own pace by reading. Its much faster though if you read silently in your head. However, sadly, lots of people arent really readers. They dont make the connection between READING and LEARNING.
Doreen Virtue has repented , you can find her testimony on her channel on YouTube...
She was broken hearted when she was born again , knowing how much she was deceived , and now she is doing her best to tell people not to buy her old books , and keeps on telling people she was deceived...
She is now a child of God , all the glory to God Amen...

you are determined to try and somehow create a very false impression of what I believe and place yourself in a teaching position

first of all, you have no idea what I believe but everyone here knows what you believe and most of us disagree with the way you hide behind the Holy Spirit and blame Him for your error and deception. Next, you are no teacher of anything as you ignore the actual teaching of the word of God and in fact, place yourself about it in so doing.

20You, however, have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth.c 21I have not written to you because you lack knowledge of the truth, but because you have it, and because no lie comes from the truth. 22Who is the liar, if it is not the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, who denies the Father and the Son. 23Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father, but whoever confesses the Son has the Father as well.

Remain in Christ

24As for you, let what you have heard from the beginning remain in you. If it does, you will also remain in the Son and in the Father. 25And this is the promise that He Himself made to us: eternal life.

26I have written these things to you about those who are trying to deceive you. 27And as for you, the anointing you received from Him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But just as His true and genuine anointing teaches you about all things, so remain in Him as you have been taught.

28And now, little children, remain in Christ,d so that when He appears, we may be confident and unashamed before Him at His coming.

29If you know that He is righteous, you also know that everyone who practices righteousness has been born of Him.

the highlighted text above is one of the verses you propose tells you that you do not need anyone but the Holy Spirit, however when we look at the context in which the verse is found, it is seen that John was speaking to ALL the believers who had heard the truth, received the truth and practiced the truth.

John was CONFIRMING what was ALREADY known, not telling them to go off by themself and he was certainly NOT telling them they did not need any teachers or elders or whatever. John continues and states that the TRUE AND GENUINE anointing will teach what is true and what has been confirmed, as he already stated.

The Holy Spirit will not deviate from the truth ALREADY learned. John states to remain in that teaching

This is the opposite of what you are doing lafftur. you set yourself above others, you have not remained in what we know is the truth which has been delivered to all believers everywhere for all time.

you accuse me of not knowing the voice of the Spirit of God but I do know Him. He has guided me many times and above all He has taught me that God has defined the parameters in which we are to operate and those parameters are there for our safety and to protect us from destruction

you or anyone who steps outside of those parameters are ON THEIR OWN . you deviate from the word, you accuse others of attacking you, you make false claims against others and betray the very words in scripture by illustrating over and over that your special knowledge is not contained within the parameters

all of this amounts to a rogue Christian, one who has set themself above the word. we have literally thousands of false prophets running around like loose cannons today because they had have done the same thing. they will not take instruction but instead instruct those with itching ears who always want to 'HEAR A WORD FROM GOD'

why do they ALWAYS WANT TO HEAR A WORD FROM GOD? it is because they have put aside the words God has already spoken

Jesus is the Word, the Word made flesh and those who put aside His words, the words of His Father, have not remained in the true anointing but have listened to another spirit, which is not the Holy Spirit, and they will accuse those who remain in that word they have already heard, of being without the Holy Spirit and not listening to Him

now you go ahead and put your thumbs down or maybe an x or maybe post something condescending as you have done

let those with understanding because they remain in the word continue in that word

yes lafftur. I do know my Shepherd and I am sorry you have taken it on yourself to accuse me otherwise
Oh @lenna - you and I just absolutely oppose each other. To continue responding to each other is not going to do you or me any good. I don't agree with any of your posts and you do not agree with any of mine.......so what?! God still loves us BOTH and we need to love each other, too.(y)

Enjoy your relationship with God and I will enjoy my relationship with God.....He'll fix all of us eventually. I don't have to "fix" you and you don't have to "fix" me - we just need to love each other and pray for each other.

I really do wish you all the best!(y)

Ive been listening to Chip Ingram. He definitely is very gifted. Especially his sessions "emotions that destroy" is very good. I can recommend him.
Also Derek Prince and Walter Feid are pretty good about in deph knowledge.
Derek Prince I am familiar with- he is played quite often in our house.
Chip Ingram- I was able to google and find- will try to give a listen to soon.
Walter Feid- I am unable to find...... google shows stuff for ancestry, and some stuff (I think in German?) Is he an English speaking preacher? If not that might be why I am unable to find.

my only interest is in possibly provoking others to truth to understand that we cannot go off on our own paths and call them God's instructions
That will be a full time job around here.

typical. I have not been responding to you though. I am only pointing out the fact you have chosen to go beyond what is good

no parameters

I really have no interest in trying to sort out the beliefs you post. they are not biblical but in this day, they are not uncommon. there are churches full of people led astray who believe the most outrageous things and say what they do is being led. well they are being led. by deceiving spirits. I will have no part in it

oh no worries. I only took particular interest in this one because the Holy Spirit is not a toy or an excuse for extra biblical behavior or beliefs

I am not a cessationist. I believe the gifts have been badly badly abused and as a result, people are turned off and with good reason

I don't know what people are going to do when there is no one left to give them some 'fresh word from God' and all the meetings that gave them goosebumps are no more and all they have left is the Bible they thought was just a guide book when all along it was the word that they really needed and would have guided them if they had only sought the Creator instead of an experience

I believe God still does give gifts, of His Spirit, as He did in the past. However what passes for His Spirit in so many churches and individuals these days is self glorification and not for the building up of the body as the Bible states.

these people will not be able to stand as Paul states in Ephesians when the time comes because they believed a lie

and the above is not addressed to anyone in particular but I am very weary of the error that goes on day after day and very few speak out about it, obviously not meaning this forum as it is a forum and not a church, but we do get a small picture of the departure from the word and the teaching that tries to tell you that you cannot be deceived because you have the Holy Spirit

I agree, for the most part. I don't think speaking in tongues was what they say it is, and I don't think prophecy is what they say it is.

by the 'they' I take it you mean those who say they do speak in tongues etc now?

there is plenty of confusion and wrong teaching in those areas and while I speak/pray in tongues myself, I am less than agreeable with much of what the NAR teaches or those who think God is giving them new revelations...which is one of the main ingredients of NAR

there is also wof...word of faith...been plenty of debates about that around here

undertaught and overzealous people can do alot of harm irregardless of their sincerity

I always say one can be sincerely wrong.
By "they" yes, I mean exactly what you understood me to say.

Tom Bradford, he as well as we, don't as yet have 'perfect understanding', but he is very well educated
in the culture and history of the scriptures, and to boot, he is fluent in Hebrew, and he also knows,
understands Greek very well...
but, the most important thing is; He is a very 'sincere-hard working-man, that truly LOVES GOD,
and puts all of his effort into bringing the TRUTH of God across to his fellow man, in Love...
(he DOES have a 'donate button', but we have NEVER heard him ASK for a penny!!!...
definitely NOT a 'beggar'...
plus, if you read his 'history', concerning his Church, they, are totally 'out of DEBT, and he gives this glory
whole-heartedly to God...

Hey, so I was looking up Bible teachers. Would anyone here recommend a Bible teacher, preferably that have teachings online and also preferably have "through the Bible" studies?

I wouldn't mind, old, long-gone, Bible teachers, who have great commentaries too.

So far, I like and would recommend:

Les Feldick
Chuck Smith
J. Vernon McGee
Dr. David Jeremiah

I haven't read all their works, but so far they seem great, recommend me Bible teachers?
I would not recommend a bible teacher but that as a christian the Holy Spirit will lead you and guide you into all truth. Find a local bible believing church and get involved. youtube and tv programs can never replace the belonging to a local fellowship where God can develop your gifts and callings.

I think John Piper, Charles Spurgeon and Charles Stanley are good.
I am not a Calvinist, but Charles F Stanley does put out a very nice note-takers journal with a through-the-Bible-in-a-year reading planner in it. I am a big believer in writing stuff down to make it stick in my head. I completely agree with @Lafftur about The Holy Spirit being indispensable.

intouch.org I think. He advertises it as being for sermon notes. His 'leathersoft' stuff is really nice.

Modern day writers might possess the wisdom you seek.......or not.
R.C. Sproul has long history of sound teaching AND has been on the board of bible translators for NKJV.

Personally you can't go wrong with anything that Spurgeon tells you. Once called the prince of preachers, his messages are as interesting and true as they were just over 100 years ago. The Spurgeon Archive is one I have used, there are others and they all are free and his writings and sermons are posted for us to learn and enjoy. Nobody sounder.

For a good solid meal that is backed up by scripture all the way go no further than any book written by Derek Prince. Although he died a few years ago, his books are spread all around the world through the dedication of his ministry. Chinese church is particularly thakful of his teaching as Christian books are banned so he has had them transferred to USB drives.

Got to ask the Holy Spirit questions while you read the Word of God.......seeking God, not just reading....seeking.

Just like those writers- be lead by the Holy Spirit into the depth of understanding of God’s Word.

BSF International is a wonderful global bible study I have always loved to attend that would encourage me to depend on the Holy Spirit for help with my Bible Study homework questions.

After homework, I could read commentaries if I wanted to but, they STRONGLY encouraged asking the Holy Spirit FIRST for understanding.

I’ve always been amazed at the depth of insight the Holy Spirit gives - so life giving!(y)

Go checkout BSF!(y)
Our own reasoning power is not sufficient enough to lead us into truth. And I get what you want to bring across. According to my understanding there should be an standard or law which we can evaluate by whether what is being taught is of God. And the Holy spirit won't contradict what the Bible teaches. Though we can say we are being taught of the Holy spirit. How do we know, that we are not being deceived by our own heart? What standard should we use? Because we can make our reason power our god and be far off from the truth.

I don’t know something until I understand it - understanding comes from the Holy Spirit.
God is building, His own church on the earth. And I like what you are saying. There will be remnant that will preach only the pure gospel without any contradictions.
