Excellent analogy. Seeking to be made righteous before God by any work only harms and hinders. We need the Righteousness that comes by faith in Christ.
Amen

The law required perfect obedience period As James said if we keep the whole law yet stumble in one point we are guilty!

Once we are guilty. The law required sacrifice for redemption. There was no other means if payment

Christ’s redemptive sacrifice is the only work God will accept. All these other works are just filthy rags according to scripture.

This is true. Those who are saved do keep his commands

But remember. Those that do not know him can do them also. A non believe can not commit adultery. So using this as a means to determine who is saved is faulty logic
also. If we are doing them to get saved we will fail. Because according to the law perfection is required

Ecclesiastes 3 (ESV)

John 3 (ESV)

14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in him may have eternal life. 16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. 19 And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their WORKS were evil. 20 For everyone who DOES wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his WORKS should be exposed. 21 But whoever DOES what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his WORKS have been carried out in God."

1 John 2 (ESV)

4 Whoever says "I know him" but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him, 5 but whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in him: 6 whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked. 7 Beloved, I am writing you no new commandment, but an old commandment that you had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word that you have heard. 8 At the same time, it is a new commandment that I am writing to you, which is true in him and in you, because the darkness is passing away and the true light is already shining.

Jeremiah 31 (ESV)

31 "Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel (ten lost tribes assimilated into Christianity as part of the body of Christ the Messiah) and the house of Judah (Messianic Jews who accepted Christ as their saviour, forming part of the body of Christ the Messiah), 32 not like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, my covenant that they broke, though I was their husband, declares the Lord. 33 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my law (Torah / Pentateuch) within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Revelation 2 (ESV)

2 "'I know your works, your toil and your patient endurance, and how you cannot bear with those who are evil, but have tested those who call themselves apostles and are not, and found them to be false. 3 I know you are enduring patiently and bearing up for my name's sake, and you have not grown weary. 4 But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first. 5 Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.

8 "And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write: 'The words of the first and the last, who died and came to life. 9 "'I know your tribulation and your poverty (but you are rich) and the slander of those who say that they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.

19 "'I know your works, your love and faith and service and patient endurance, and that your latter works exceed the first. 20 But I have this against you, that you tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess and is teaching and seducing my servants to practice sexual immorality and to eat food sacrificed to idols.

So tell me, do you think your works pay for your sin so God will forgive you?
The sins of us, who do our sinful best, to do the works God requires, had been forgiven by God's grace from the creation of this world.

Yeshua ha'Machiach / Jesus the Messiah, who was known by God eternally, to be bringing the perfect offering, will be our advocate at judgement, as he paid the price in full, where we fell / is falling / will fall short of God's commandments. We would not be subscribing to God's new covenant of grace, where his commandments are written on our hearts, if we view his new covenant of grace as a free pass to not keep his commandments. We endeavour at our sinful best, whilst walking in sanctification, by following Yeshua ha'Machiach / Jesus the Messiah, and to obey his commandments.

We are justified not by faith alone.
We are justified not by works alone.

James 2 (ESV)

24 You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.

Re-unitement with God cannot be attained of works alone, nor of faith alone - the atonement offering of Yeshua ha'Mashiach / Jesus the Messiah re-united us in a new covenant with God. His law / Torah / Pentateuch is now written on our hearts. Our works in love, and our walking closer and closer in the commandments of God, in which Yeshua ha'Maschiach / Jesus the Messiah walked, and taught us by example, bears witness to our faith and hope in Yeshua ha'Mashiach / Jesus the Messiah (the Alpha and Omega), son of God. As Yeshua ha'Mashiach / Jesus the Messiah walked, we must follow, and walk (and not be ignorant of his commandments) in holiness before God.

Salvation is from God to man, in his bringing to acceptance of Yeshua ha'Mashiach's payment, to his elect covenant people. His covenant people's works, in walking closer and closer to the commandments of God, day by day, in a process called sanctification, bear witness of acceptance of Yeshua ha'Mashiach's payment.

To sum up - we are NOT SAVED (re-united with God, under Yeshua ha'Machiach's / Jesus the Messiah's new covenant) BY WORKS ALONE, NOR BY FAITH ALONE. WORKS of LOVE, for GOD, our NEIGHBOUR as OURSELF, in walking in, and obeying God's commandments written on our hearts, closer and closer day by day, in a process of sanctification, will be the litmus test for GOD's JUDGEMENT, of whether YOU TRULY HAD FAITH and is part of his new covenant people - or whether you just lied to yourself, God and others.

36 "Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?" 37 And he said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40 On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets."

Matthew 7 (ESV)

21 "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more."

I feel sorry for you man, you very best is not good enough, as James said, if we keep every aspect of the law yet fail I just one point, we are guilty of the law. The penalty of sin according to the word is death.

christianity is not about doing your best,it’s about humbling oneself and admitting you best is not enough,it about falling on your knees,be so ing poor (bancrupt) in spirit, and calling out on the name of the lord to be saved,

once saved, THEN works proceed, As God had made you into a new creature. As paul said, we are saved on account of Grace through faith, not of works lest anyone should boast.

again, Paul says not by works of righteousness which we have done but by his mercy he saved us...

James, refering to licentious people who are hearers not doers and have a CLAIMED faith only claim out faith is always followed up with works, like Paul said in Eph 10, if the works are not their our faith is dead. Soon appearing to contradict paul, he instead compliments him by claiming if you have no works (zero zip nada) your faith is dead.can that faith save you? No,

look to God man, not Yourself, don’t try you best all your life, only to fall short in the End, instead, give it all to Jesus and he will save you,

don’t be like the jews,

As I have shared before. As a rescue swimmer tries to rescue someone who is drowning. That person has to have faith in the swimmer and not try to help. If he tried to help. Chances are both the swimmer and person who needs may die

That person who trusted in the one who was sent to save him did not save himself. Nor can he take credit. All the credit goes to the one who risked their life to save him
Obey the rescuers commands, when you hear his voice.

Jesus walked as a child of God, the jews crucified him.
that was my point,

jews thought it was their works that made them righteous, that’s why they rejected Jesus, Jesus told them their works would never save them,

There is only one command, sit still, do nothing, and LET ME SAVE YOU
this is what Jesus said when he said blessed are those who are poor in spirit (spiritually bankrupt) for, theirs is the kingdom

15 And count the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you according to the wisdom given him, 16 as he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures. 17 You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability.

I agree, except for the generalisation coined to "jews".

Ephesians 2 (ESV)

8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Not all "jews" (those of Israel's 12 tribes that are from the tribes of Judah/Benjamin/Levi) had evil works, and tried to obey God's commandments of love.

Their are "jews" who have followed, are following, and will follow Yeshua ha'Maschiach / Jesus the Messiah, who gave us his atonement offering, and showed us the way of perfecting love, and faithfully walking in God's commandments.

Yeshua / Jesus, the "jew", his twelve disciples - the "jews", and the apostle Paul were all "jews".

Their is nothing in the Brit Chadashah / New Testament scriptures, save for the Gospel of Luke - written by Luke the Greek doctor, that have not been written by "jews", about "jews" and for "jews" and for those of Israel's other tribes, scattered among all the nations of the earth, who became lost sheep and lost their Israel identity (which Yeshua / Jesus came to gather into one).

The hypocritic "jew" leadership of that time however, did not follow God's commandments (mostly paid lip service, and it was not from the heart), and did not like being called out for this - and saw Yeshua / Jesus as a threat to their position.

Matthew 23 (NLT)

Isaiah 61 (ESV)

10 I will greatly rejoice in the Lord; my soul shall exult in my God, for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation; he has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself like a priest with a beautiful headdress, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

Matthew 22 (ESV)

10 And those servants went out into the roads and gathered all whom they found, both bad and good. So the wedding hall was filled with guests. 11 "But when the king came in to look at the guests, he saw there a man who had no wedding garment. 12 And he said to him, 'Friend, how did you get in here without a wedding garment?' And he was speechless. 13 Then the king said to the attendants, 'Bind him hand and foot and cast him into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.' 14 For many are called, but few are chosen."

Revelation 19 (ESV)

7 Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready; 8 it was granted her to clothe herself with fine linen, bright and pure"— for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints. 9 And the angel said to me, "Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb." And he said to me, "These are the true words of God."
