And by the power of the Holy Spirit I declare that Jesus is Lord!

Romans 10:9
9because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Anyone can say "Jesus is Lord", but only by the Holy Spirit can someone mean that Jesus is Lord in their heart.

1 Corinthians 12:3
3Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking in the Spirit of God ever says “Jesus is accursed!” and no one can say “Jesus is Lord” except in the Holy Spirit.

It is by the Holy Spirit that God searches our heart.

Romans 8:26-27
26Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. 27And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

So there is a deeper connection in the Spirit the transcends surface-level book smarts and words and into the "deep things of God."

Somebody might ask the question does a person have to confess verbally or do they just have to believe or do they have to do both to be genuinely saved?

Some even dare to add water baptism into the mix. What is the motive for wanting to make the list 10 miles long? Who could be behind this? Who would want to complicate things and confuse the little ones? Hmmmm:unsure:

Many things shall follow, but it is only by the Blood that we may come. There is no other Way.

The best answer I can come up with is that the Bible does not say that routine confession of sins to God is a prerequisite to salvation. As far as salvation goes, as far as I can tell, you just need to place you faith in the life, death, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. Just trust what he did for you upon the cross as sufficient to give you eternal life.

I think sin confession is more about relationship with God. Remember, what Jesus did tore the veil between the world and the holy of holies so that we may approach the throne of God with boldness as sons and daughters of the King of kings.

Confession is like telling your Father sorry for offending him, but it is not a matter of losing salvation. You are still a son or daughter.

If confession was a matter of salvation I would sincerely doubt my salvation and most people probably would because it would be dependent on us actually remembering all of our known and unknown offenses against God.

There's a lot more to having with a relationship with God, like the greatest commandment of all: love God with all your heart, mind, soul, and every fiber of your being. Praise God.

God knows everything about you even your thoughts, so eventually every Christian confesses openly by verbally or actions. Telling family and friends of your new faith would be verbal and the act of water baptism is an overt action witnessed by the church. Sooner or later we all have the inner compulsion to be open in our faith.

IMO,this Is what Apostle James was talking about when he wrote “faith without work Is dead“ and also when he wrote “show me your faith without your works and I’ll show you my faith by my works”which Is a demonstration outwardly of an Inward change.

JESUS IS the Vine and we are the branches.

Yes I agree,some believe that confession and asking for forgiveness are the same but I believe that asking for forgiveness Is a one time event but confessing happens more than once/continuous.

theres no such thing as book smarts if you cant read and write or articulate what you read.
Its more like 'book dumbs' where people flip through a book and claim theyve read it but dont even know what it means. Or they studying it so closely, like every letter and syllable, and STILL dont actually know what it means. Or they just copy it. Its like not seeing the forest for the trees.


Librarian here. Ive spoken to librarians who work in Bible college libraries who dont even believe. Maybe its just a bunch of pages to get through for a course to some people.

I hope that you do realise that all of the verses you have quoted apply to the regenerated spiritual man, and not the natural man as indicated in 1 Cor 2:14.

They do not have to do either of them. 2 Tim 2:13, For if they believe not, yet he abideth faithful, he cannot deny himself.
