I don't think we can talk about immerse in the New Testament theological context without including the concept of baptism in water. To be baptized in the name of Jesus means water baptism not some mystical letters J E S U S that fall upon us from the invisible realm. We are baptized in water to show our commitment and confession of faith. This act of faith is what God desires. We believe in our hearts and we confess with our mouths. Baptism in water is part of this confession with the mouth. It must be preached today just like it was in Acts. When the church gets back to baptism as soon as people confess faith they will see far less backsliders. Test it out see if I am wrong.
I like to describe it as repentance is putting off the old and water baptism is putting on the new.

CEV - Act 2:38 Peter said, "Turn back to God! Be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, so that your sins will be forgiven. Then you will be given the Holy Spirit.

KJV - Act 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

LITERAL - Act 2:38 And Peter said to them, Repent and be baptized, each of you on the name of Jesus Christ to remission of sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

MKJV - Act 2:38 Then Peter said to them, Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ to remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

YLT - Act 2:38 and Peter said unto them, 'Reform, and be baptized each of you on the name of Jesus Christ, to remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit,

I think that whatever rendering you use it is very clear what is meant.
Yet in the Greek it does not say that

It would be like saying “everyone repent and let them be baptized for the remission if sin and you will be given the gift if the spirit”

I like to describe it as repentance is humbling yourself and admitting the truth and God baptizes us into Christ With the washing (Baptism) of regeneration (new birth) of the HS

So how do you harmonize your interpretation of Acts 2:38 (water baptized in order to obtain the remission of sins and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit) with what Peter said in Acts 10:43-47? These Gentiles clearly believed, received the gift of the Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues (spiritual gift which is ONLY for the body of Christ - 1 Corinthians 12) and were saved BEFORE water baptism.

As far as I know everyone is saved before water baptism. At least they are in my world.

It does not say repent AND be baptized to receive remission if sin
Here is what it says....

CEV) Peter said, "Turn back to God! Be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, so that your sins will be forgiven. Then you will be given the Holy Spirit.

(KJV) Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

(KJV+) ThenG1161 PeterG4074 saidG5346 untoG4314 them,G846 Repent,G3340 andG2532 be baptizedG907 every oneG1538 of youG5216 inG1909 theG3588 nameG3686 of JesusG2424 ChristG5547 forG1519 the remissionG859 of sins,G266 andG2532 ye shall receiveG2983 theG3588 giftG1431 of theG3588 HolyG40 Ghost.G4151

(LITV) And Peter said to them, Repent and be baptized, each of you on the name of Jesus Christ to remission of sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

(MKJV) Then Peter said to them, Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ to remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

(YLT) and Peter said unto them, 'Reform, and be baptized each of you on the name of Jesus Christ, to remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit,

Where do you get this idea that it does not say what it says?

Sorry but you are wrong. I am writing it in English but I read it in the greek and have been doing so for a very long time. Believe what you want but I will stick to the original which is as plain as day.

No sir you are wrong

The gift if the Holy Spirit does
Not point back to baptism it can’t. They are in different forms. One is said to be offered to all and the other is commanded to Only individuals (2nd or 3rd person)

So forgive me if I can not believe you

Your studies have led you to false beliefs (whether or not you will ever acknowledge that).

Peter made it clear in Acts 3:19 that repentance was for the remission of sins, not baptism. And this was based on the words of Christ in Luke 24:47: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

Had Christ means baptism for the remission of sins, He would have made that clear in this verse.

He already made that clear in Mark 16:16.

In Luke's version of the GC, the clear point he was making there is that they must begin at Jerusalem. Of course churches ignore that part of the GC for them now.

That's OK and I am sorry that I don't measure up to your perfection.
