What Are You Thankful For?

Thanksgiving is almost here and I thought it would be fitting to share some of the things that you are thankful for?

As for me, I am very thankful that I live in free country, that I can go to sleep in peace and wake in peace, that I have food to eat, and my bills are paid, that my children are still living and are healthy & doing ok financially,and most of all that I know Jesus Christ as my Savior and Lord.

I thank the Lord often for a good family that loves to get together and enjoy each other's company. We don't have one rube in the bunch. They're all pretty good people.

Covid has really been cramping our style lately... do you have any idea how many family dinners we have missed since April? Birthdays, holidays, or just a random day when uncle Brent calls uncle Fred, uncle Stanley and Grandma and says "Hey I'm cooking a pot roast, y'all wanna come over?"

But I'm still thankful that we have a good family.

so Thankful that hub has returned home after his term of caring for a family member -
I always miss him very much, but I am also very grateful that he is able to care and love her,
and help her to stay in her home instead of being put into a 'nursing-home', which would
of course be her demise...
it's not easy on many of the family members, and most can only help by phone, but how
blessed and thankful we are that we are able/healthy enough to care for her and help her
through the days of her distresses...

'we' are not allowing satan to disrupt our family-unit, but, he is trying so hard to do so, and
some are having great trials by the circumstances that keep arising! -
and we are trying so hard to keep our family dignity by thinking of her before ourselves...
we who know what Jesus requires of us, at any cost, must try to always pay the price...
in order to be in the Will of God...

thank you for your understanding, for we know how you love to help others and do -
'thinking of Lynn and John and how you and others went to their home and made so
many renovations in order to relieve some of their many hardships - we actually
fell in love with you after realizing the sacrifices you were making for them...
you are for sure a very special gift in this world of woe...

for God and His Son's Amazing Grace, and His Spirit's inner dwelling, for His word, for family and friends, for nature's landscape and for all God's creatures, for hot water, for shelter and clothes, for the five senses, for healing and mercy, laughter and rest, for music and singing, for art and for choice, for hope, caring, balance, sharing, joy, writing, listening, and reading, and seasons and holidays, for learning and for exploration, for food, ice cream and cocoa, hussle and bustle, and slow and quiet, for unique and for familiar, kindness of others, including strangers, for togetherness and solitude, giving and receiving, for eyes and ears, fingers and toes, work to do, and reprieve too.

So much to be thankful for, the list goes on and on. I am so grateful for gratitude itself. He has given us so much.

My grandson will take his final exam and graduate.
Our loving God has filled him with Holy Spirit anointing, I am so thankful his name is written in the Lamb's Book of Life.

This early morning, I thought about this thread. I want to also to take time to be thankful for the deep sufferings that comes with life, that He uses them for His purposes. I say that, knowing that while they are happening I do not feel glad, but want to express thankfulness in them. Thank You Lord in good times and bad.

It's not my mother's birthday nor Mother's Day, but just thanking the Lord for our wonderful mother, whom the Lord allowed to live a long life. Amidst the pandemic, even when we cannot always see each other, she never forgets and would call once in a while, ask how we are, and all. I was going thru an old photo album where she also saved some (birthday, etc) cards, and i see how all my sibs love and appreciate her for what she's been to us thru the yrs, sending cards across the globe when she was overseas.

Also thankful for our quiet home away from the hassle and bustle of city life (i was born at our capital).. but have loved living in the countryside since idk when=). There's some inconvenience going out and securing supplies sometimes, but occasional walks are fine w/ me, not just everyday! I appreciate the local market, where i can still get fresh stuff not always found at the supermarkets (oh, i'm really old style hehe).

Since the strong typhoons, i havent been able to access the FEBC radio we often listen to early in the day (that is sad), but today i decide to click on an online teaching, and the ptr read part of Psalm 96:

96 O sing unto the Lord a new song: sing unto the Lord, all the earth.
2 Sing unto the Lord, bless his name; shew forth his salvation from day to day.
3 Declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people.

My heart sang as i joined singing both a new song, and another i knew quite well. Praying more people will experience the joy of truly lifting our voice to God, singing in psalms, hymns and sacred songs to one another and to our Lord day by day.

our bedroom faces the east, and in the morning when I wake-up, I or hub open the curtains
so that we may inhale the light of the dawning day and rejoice in all of the colors and shadows
that reflects off of the flora and fauna into our eyes/souls - I am immediately grateful for having my sight,
and mind that makes it possible for me to know/appreciate the many gifts presented before me just upon
me waking-up and looking/feeling what our Father has blessed us with... -
the older we get, hub and I are still amazed at how our Spirits keep drawing us closer and closer to our heavenly
Father's Heavenly Kingdom, we can Feel His Spirit enmeshing with ours more and more:
this has increased our Faith and Confidence and Hope...

I'm thankful for technology. Let people lament it as they may, but I can set up an old smartphone in the corner of the room, set Skype to automatically answer video calls, and provide an automatic window for family to check in on a loved one when they cannot be there personally for covid reasons.

It's a handy time to be a nerd.

you are obviously from a generation that has figured out how to use TECH to your benefit' -

for hub and myself, we are what is called 'old-school', we were taught how to communicate
one-on-one in the flesh/face-to-face'... - seems strange now, when we hear how people are
seeking a connection or even love or any emotion through TECH, it just blows our minds!!!

just today, when we went to get some 'farmer's market' produce, a friend who sells it told us
that he and his wife, went to visit relatives of all ages, down state, = he basically told us that
no one could have an actual 'conversation', because they were all 'engrossed' into 'texting' -
when he told us this, he was in distress about it, he said that several of the-family-members'
wouldn't even come out of their rooms to interact with them, even after they had travelled
for several hours to be with them and share'...
this broke our hearts in two, as he and his wife are from a time, as are we, when you spoke
your feelings face-to-face and just expected a real heart-felt response, for this was your KIN
who you loved and thought would always have your back'...

our concern is, does the world's 'TECH' have such '(negative-side-effects)' that it will
out-weigh' any kind of Family or Community BENEFIT???
Will it eventually make our family units 'null & void'???

People have always wanted to get away from reality and create their own. They became recluses and hermits, turned to alcohol to push reality away, used various drugs...

These days it's just easier to do. Humans are still humans. The only thing that has changed is the opportunities humans have to shut out reality.

Now that technology makes it so easy to create your own reality to get lost in, we are finding out which people really are strong enough to live in "real" reality.
