How will your family celebrate Thanksgiving this year?

We normally gather at my brother's (my grandparent's home) for a reunion and celebration. We usually have four generations, my brother and sisters, our children, our grand children, our great grand children, cousins and their families, and family friends. We have enough food for dinner, and a take home plate. We also take food to several home bound friends. It's a great time for all.

This year will be much different. My brother and I have heart problems. Two sisters have respiratory problems. My other sisters have some degree of immune system difficulties. We have grand children and great grand children in school, and our community has its highest number of daily new cases of covid-19 ever. With the odds stacked a against us, we have decided to cancel this years reunion.

Mama and I will have dinner with our daughter and one son. The deer stand won't be empty, but there won't be any black Friday shopping.

All things aside, we will take the time to thank God for his love and provisions for this most unusual year. We will also pray the restoration of our great country. Please God, send us a revival.

Well, as a family of 10 we are already violating the "6 and under" mandate. I guess we'll have to boot some of the kids out into the rain this Thanksgiving, just to be safe!

Our family is meeting like normal. We figure if anyone wants be covid safe then they best stay home. But so far it looks like everyone is coming.

It was just myself, hubs, and our cubbies, and honestly, I think may have been the best one yet.
It 's the first I can remember in a while that we didn't have someone over. One set of grandparents lives out of state, and grandpa who lives close by was taken out of state to another family members home for a while (:(:censored::rolleyes:) so that took some pressure off as far as making sure everything was ready at a certain time, as well as all the other pressure that goes with having company over.
(But that's not what made it the best yet ;) )
As missed as everyone is, it was nice being just us (as it is any other day).
Kids are gowing in their understanding of Thanksgiving going past turkeys and pilgrims and Native Americans :)
after everything that 2020 has hit us with, they have a better understanding of what's really most important in life,
and when they ask how Thanksgiving ties into the bible....... well that opens all sorts of great doors as they get to learn that it's a daily thing not just one day a year :D . I love how they summed it up:
"Soooooo........ Christmas is the story of when Jesus was born, Easter is the story of when He died and rose again, and Thanksgiving is the story of the rest of the year."
