Yes sorry, i was mistaken with that GIF... look at this one instead...

View attachment 223715
Our solar system orbits the center of the Milky Way which is rotating and moving through the universe, right...
So with every star in a similar motion how does the Polaris star always stay in the same spot?
How do the stars keep running the same cycle? Shouldn't they appear in different positions each night?

what we're calling 'north' is roughly the direction that yellow ball is headed in the gif. so yeah if you keep driving towards something it will keep looking like it's in front of you.

the sun rises in the east in the morning from where you are right now. say you walk a half a mile. does the sun rise in the north now, because you've changed positions?

Hi... I've been busy turning a van into a camper... I get my license back in 5 weeks and im escaping from this dystopian hell hole called Victoria to move to NSW or QLD.

Ok so geocentricity is basically a stationary globe. I would say that my priorities are right in order to try and understand this subject...
My priority is truth regardless of whose toes i step on or who gets offended...

I find it impossible that the earth is in motion while the Polaris star remains fixed and all the celestial bodies move in cycles...

The more i look into it the more i find lies and deception including fabricated evidence in what seems like a desperate attempt to withhold the truth... But im really struggling to understand some key points...

A/ The motive behind such a cover up...
B/ How they successfully navigated earth using heliocentric mathematics and techniques. Or maybe it was geocentric knowledge

They say that they are covering up God but the Portuguese have always been people of Christ, same as the Spanish, the French and the English... They wouldn't of been trying to suppress God. They were in the crusade wars against the Muslims. One of their missions was to spread the Gospel around the world...

Chistopher Columbus tried to reach India by going west. He proposed that the world was 4 times smaller than they thought while the Portuguese were confident that they knew the size of the globe and succeeded in their mission of reaching Asia by sea...

How do u explain that???
Since you are in Southern Australia, and it is December, you are perfectly placed to provide evidence relevant to this topic... if you are willing.

Find a spot where the sun is not blocked at any time... an open field, and hammer a stake into the ground. Or, find a place with a flagpole or tower in the midst of an open square or park. Determine which way is North, and place a marker at that point relative to the stake, pole, or tower. On a clear day, take a picture soon after sunrise, showing the pole's shadow in relation to the North marker, and take another picture just before sunset, again showing the shadow in relation to the North marker. Post both pics on this thread.

If you can do this on Monday or Tuesday (December 21 or 22 - solstice), all the better. :)

But our solar system is orbiting the Milky Way. So we're not always facing the same way, in fact we have faced every way possible and Polaris still remains fixed.

Imagine walking around something like a football pitch, that what our solar system is doing, right... So how is it possible...

Add to that the Milky way is spinning as well as moving through space... Then add the fact that every star we see is also in motion and it becomes such an impossibility...

The best answer iv received so far is that the universe is moving in sync like with is highly improbable in my mind yet really mind blowing if its the case

guess how long it takes for Sol, in an arm of the Milky Way, at the current observed rate, to make one rotation.

how many do you think it has made since the creation?

you're talking about movements across unfathomably enormous distances that take eons and eons to circuit.
it's not like it's something you notice over the course of 10 years, or even 1,000 years.

glass windows sag. the bottom of the window pane glass itself eventually becomes thicker than the top.
check yours today and then check again tomorrow and see if you can measure the difference.

@PC123

you're in Australia?

what phase is the moon right now?
*bump*

if you, in AU, see the same phase of the moon that we see in the USA, Canada & Europe, then it is impossible that the world is a flat disc.

done.

Evidence of globe earth is not what im asking for but i'll do it if i remember...
I can't wrap my head around how the stars remain in the same pattern or cycle

Ye and we know from the earliest records that the stars appear the same thousands of years ago as they do today... No change at all

Im not looking for evidence of a globe...
Just trying to understand how its possible that these stars are still running the same cycle as they were doing thousands of years ago...

I have no idea what the moon is but google says its a waxing crescent whatever that means

Not true.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Axial_precession

In fact from early records - Chinese astronomy dates back 5,000 years for example - we know exactly the opposite of what you put to be true. This is in part how we figured out the earth is precessing in its rotation

Fair enough; it would be helpful to the discussion, but no pressure. :)

I can't wrap my head around how the stars remain in the same pattern or cycle
Polaris appears to remain in the same location because it is sufficiently far away. You can test this on a small scale if driving within sight of a mountain. The mountain continues to appear in the same relative direction, while closer items (hills, trees, etc.) seem to "move" from ahead of you to behind you.

LoL me either... Google says its a waxing crescent
The word "waxing" used to mean "increasing" or "thickening". Its origin is likely from the drips of candle wax getting thicker on the base of the candlestick.

Who invented the zodiac constellations??? it was the Greeks, right? 2,000 years ago, true???
So im right in that respect...

But planetary precession is the theory... Fair enough. It takes the solar system 230 million years to go around the Milky Way they say.
So its much slower than i thought... Here is a timelapse of the stars in space i found which is pretty cool...

A driving offence is not a criminal offence... Not here, not anywhere
It's an offence that should be punishable to those who think they can do as they wish. For some it's all good until they seriously injure or kill themselves or someone else.

@breno785au

Prison has always been reserved for criminals... Always...
But cognitive dissonance wins every time, even with no knowledge of the circumstances, was i speeding, did i run a red light, how long was i in for. U have no idea...

But see how u changed the subject to "im a criminal"... Curious behavior i find

It seems to be human nature to point the finger and say look at the bad guy...
It makes people feel good, they feel righteous, they feel proud, subconsciously...

Pride is Satans favourite sin u know...
