Is there a star wars bible?

Can yoda actually quote scripture?
Ok, here is something to answer your question...

With this, I would submit the following, that Disney is not who I would believe in to do a Bible of any kind, truly.

And if Yoda could quote the scriptures, it would probably go something like this "Light there was, in the begining." due to his very unque style of speech. 🙂

Up, I'm honestly surprised -- normally your posts are upbeat and uplifting.

You definitely have a right to your own opinion but here in Singles, it's normal for people to post about their hobbies and interests (check out Lynx's Secret Menu food that's going on right now.) Although there aren't any absolute rules, part of being single is not having anyone to talk to about our hobbies and interests, so we try to encourage that here in this part of the forum.

If you're telling BlessedByGod to grow up, you're going to have to scold a good number of the rest of us as well.

I was a kid when the original Star Wars came out and I still love the original 3 movies (let's not talk about the others -- in fact, let's just forget they exist.) :) I can still remember the movie trailer on TV and stopping whatever I was doing when it came on just to watch Luke swing across the screen in awe.

One day, my Dad gathered us kids up and said he was taking us somewhere, but we had to guess where we were going on the way there. The entire trip, all we could think of is that we were going to Grandma's house, because that's really the only place we had been. However, my Dad had other plans.

I can still remember him slowly driving past (what seemed like at the time) the GIANT billboard poster outside with Luke and Leia right on the front. Dumbfounded, we looked up at him as he pointed to it and said, "THAT is where we're going." Our family didn't have much money, but my Dad had saved enough to take us to the theater for the very first time. Back then, there was no such thing as rentals or streaming. If you didn't catch a movie while it was in theaters, it was gone forever, and all you could do was hope to catch the edited version on TV several years later.

My Dad later took us to The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi in a similar fashion.

I will always have an emotional connection to the original Star Wars trilogy. I felt a great connection to Luke's character because he was a nobody -- just an orphaned farm boy -- and even as a young child, I treasured that, because I had been an orphan too.

To me, Star Wars isn't about the things most people debate about when the subject comes up.

For me, Star Wars will always represent a father's love for his kids (not just any father, but MY father) and his quiet observation of something that became one of my most prominent childhood memories.

And that is a part of me that will unapologetically never grow up, no matter how much I might be scolded or criticized for that.

BlessedByGod, I've enjoyed this thread very much (it's a whole lot better than the Disney movies), and thank you for posting! :)
This cute moment has been brought to you by Baby Yoda.....cute little guy...
Watch "Baby Yoda being ADORABLE in SEASON 2 Episode 8 (FINALE SPOILERS)" on YouTube

My quoted post above explains why the original Star Wars trilogy means so much to me. I don't think today's younger people understand what a big deal it was to go to a movie back then. There was no existence of "home media" -- once a movie had its run at the local theater, it was presumably gone forever. There were no VCR's, no DVD's, no streaming services -- nada, zip -- so the theater was your ONLY option to see a movie.

According to Google, movie ticket prices in 1980 ranged from about $2.69 - $5.46.

My earlier post also explains that my Dad took notice when his kids stopped everything they were doing to watch in awe as Luke Skywalker swing across the screen and would "OOOOHH!!!" and "AHHHH!!!" in amazement. We'd never seen anything like it before, and we had never been to a movie.

Back then, my parents put aside just $5 a month as an "entertainment fund" so that our family could occasionally go to a movie. Depending on how many of us were going, you can see how long it took them to save up to go even once. It certainly wasn't very often. And we never got snacks because we couldn't afford it.

I'm not saying this as some kind of sob story, not at all. Rather, I'm trying to illustrate that one of the many reasons I love the original Star Wars is because it reminds me of where I came from -- a working class family with a Dad who wanted to treat his kids to an afternoon in a galaxy far, far away, no matter how long and how much hard work it took him to save up for it.

So after seeing all the headlines abuzz about the Season 2 finale of The Mandalorian the past few days, I had to make a visit to YouTube to see what all the fuss was about (I don't have a subscription to Disney streaming.)

And, Oh. My. Goodness.

The last 10 minutes of that episode was, to me, far better than all of the other "movies" they've come out with since, because what this episode portrayed was really something we old-school fans would have wanted to see all along. Disney, WHY couldn't you have gone with something like THIS to begin with?!

The ending of this episode was like getting a tiny piece of my childhood back, and for a moment, just a fleeting, but ever-so-joyful moment in time, I felt like that little kid who was holding her dad's hand as he led us into the theater for the first time ever.

Watching the end of this Season 2 finale, I had goosebumps from head to toe, and a part of me wished I could stay in that moment forever, because only now, as an adult, am I able to understand just how very precious it really was.

May our lighthearted talk of "The Force" remind us of who we are, and how far God has brought us along the way.

There are many bibles. "Bible" doesn't mean "sacred text." (That's probably why there's a "Holy" on the cover of the KJV.)

Late to the game here, but I just finished that last episode of Mando tonight.

Seriously, this is everything I've wanted out of a new Star Wars since I was a kid: new and interesting characters who are not members of the Skywalker family, more planet biomes, consistent blaster action, material artfully drawn from the old movies, comic books, and novels, and Gina Carano.

wow. I think actually going to the movies were a very rare occasion when I was growing up. ANd it was very expenisve and they were not many cinemas around, in my town.

But by that time of star wars, tv was showing movies on saturday and sunday evenings. I think I first saw it on tv, but a movie on tv was made even longer with all the ad breaks in between. They would show about 15 minutes, then cut to 3 minutes of ads, then show 15 minutes more, and then cut to ads again...and repeat this until the movie finished.

This drove many people nuts. but we only had 3 channels back then and there was no choice.

Thanks for this. I will have to look out for the Mandalorian. I had been thinking it was more of the mess that Disney made of Star Wars, but after your glowing review, I will now check it out. :)

I'm late to the game here, but The Mandalorian is exactly the kind of Star Wars you've been waiting for. Disney didn't screw it up.
