Matt 28: 19 Go ye, therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, ...
They are baptizing through their TEACHING when people repent, put their trust in Jesus and get filled with the Holy Spirit.
The great commission given by Jesus to his apostles was to go out and teach all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father and in the name of the Son, and in the name of the Holy Spirit. Most people and church denominations think that this means one baptism with water in the name of three persons. That is not the case. It is three different baptisms. You are baptized in the name of the Father when He chooses you by granting the repentance necessary for salvation. You are baptized in the name of the Son when you put your faith and trust in Jesus' death for our salvation. You are baptized in the name of the Holy Spirit when you get filled with the Holy Spirit. It is when you receive the Holy Spirit that you are born again, become part of the body of Christ, and become One with the Father and Son. The Holy Spirit of God fills us with the same love that is shared by the Father and Son. Jesus said that the greatest commandment is to love God with all your heart, mind, and soul. The second is just like it. Love your neighbors as you love yourself. All the commandments are based on these two. So God has made it easier on us. If all our choices are made with love in our hearts, we will be obeying His commandments. At the end, Jesus will be presenting all of us perfect in love. Baptism is not something that we do. It is something that our God in three persons does for those He chooses.
1 Cor 1: 21 For after that, in the wisdom of God, the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

The Father chooses who will be saved by granting them the repentance which will open their hearts to believing and trusting in Jesus ( for the forgiveness of sins) and getting filled with His Holy Spirit who perfects us in love.

Acts 19: 2-7 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Spirit since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there is any Holy Spirit. And he said unto them, Unto what, then, were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism. Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people that they should BELIEVE on him who should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke with tongues, and prophesied.
Repentance is not a ritual. It is a state of being granted by God to those He chooses. Notice that one is baptized in the name of Jesus WHEN he believes on Jesus and then is baptized in the name of the Holy Spirit WHEN he is filled with the Holy Spirit.
Acts 2: 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Notice the three elements of salvation: Repentance, belief on Jesus Christ, and being filled with the Holy Spirit.
Acts 11: 18 When they heard these things, they held their peace and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.
Luke 13: 3 I tell you, Nay, But , except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
Acts 8: 12 But WHEN they believed Philip preaching the Kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
Notice that they were baptized WHEN they be;ieved, not after they believed.
Eph 2: 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath BEFORE ordained that we should walk in them.
John 1: 12-13 But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the children of God, even (that is) to them that believe on His name; Who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
Here John is describing the born again believer by the will of God and not by men's merit. The Father and Jesus are not discreet beings like we are (in a body). When we receive God's Holy Spirit, we are identified with the Saviour and become part of His body and are considered by the Father as His children just as Jesus is the Son of God. The Church as a whole is thought of as the bride of Christ because just as the bride and groom become one in marriage, christians become one with the Father and Son because we possess the same Spirit.
Check out Col 3:5
Romans 11: 5-6 Even so, then, at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace. And if by grace, then is it no more of works; otherwise grace is no more grace.
There is a remnant according to the election of grace in every generation. You can't work yourself to heaven because then it is no longer by God's grace.
Ephesians 2: 8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God--Not of works, lest any man should boast.
No man in heaven can boast that he got there on his own merit.
1 Peter 1: 2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God, the Father, through sanctification of (by) the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
That's Baptism in the name of the Father, in the name of the Holy Spirit, and in the name of the Son. Sanctification means fixing or adjusting something so that it can perform its intended use. Sanctification by the Spirit unto obedience means that the Holy Spirit fills our hearts with the same type of love shared by the Father and Son.
John 15: 10-12 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love, even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in His love.
It is not, if you obey then you will be loved. It is , if you obey then you are abiding in His love.
1 Cor 1: 9 God is faithful, BY WHOM YOU WERE CALLED unto the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ.
1 Cor 1: 29-31 That no flesh should glory in His presence. but of (by) Him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of (by) God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption; That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.
No person in heaven can say that he got there on his own merit. The Father does it all. Baptism in the name of the Father, in the name of the Son, and in the name of the Holy Spirit.
John 15: 10-14 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love, even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in His love. These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. This is my commandment, THAT YE LOVE ONE ANOTHER, AS I HAVE LOVED YOU.
When you do everything with love in your heart, you are obeying His commandments. Check out 1 Cor 13: 1-13.
John 17: 26 And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it, that the love with which thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.
1 John 2: 8-10 Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth. He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now. He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is no occasion of stumbling in him.

Eph 1: 3-7 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ. According as he hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him, in love. Having predestinated us unto the adoption of sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according too the good pleasure of His will.To the praise of the glory of His grace, through which He hath made us accepted in the Beloved; In whom we have redemption through His Blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.
Again baptism in the name of the Father because He has chosen us, baptism in the name of the Son because our sins are removed and we are without blame, and baptism in the name of the Holy Spirit because we are filled with the same love shared by the Father and Son which is the bond of perfection. Being Baptized in the name of the Father means that you were chosen in Christ ( because when you receive the Holy Spirit of God, you become part of Jesus' body and you are in Christ) before the foundation of the world ( which means that the Father transcends time and can manipulate events according to the good pleasure of His will) . Because we are part of Jesus' body and Jesus is the Father's son, the Father adopts us as His children and we will inherit the same spiritual blessings that is given to Jesus.
Ephesians 1: 8-10 In which he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence, Having made known unto us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He hath purposed in Himself; That in the dispensation of the fullness of times he might gather together in One all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth, even (that is) in Him.
Those that are chosen are in Christ and receive the wisdom, prudence , and knowledge and understanding of the mystery of His will. In the dispensation of the fullness of times ( at the end when justice will be administered) , God will separate the wheat ( those that are in Christ) from the tares (the unsaved).
Ephesians 1: 11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of Him who worketh all things after the counsel of His own will.
Again baptism in the name of the Father because He has chosen us, baptism in the name of the Son because our sins are removed and we are without blame, and baptism in the name of the Holy Spirit because we are filled with the same love shared by the Father and Son which is the bond of perfection.
Colossians 3: 12-14 Put on, therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, tender mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, long suffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any; even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfectness.
Ephesians 1: 13-14 In whom ye also trusted, after ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also after ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise, Who is the earnest (security) of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of His glory.
Romans 9: 15-16 For He saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have commpassion on whom I will have compassion. So, then, it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that showeth mercy.
The Father chooses.
John 17: 5-7 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. I have manifested thy name unto the men whom thou gavest me out of the world; thine they were, and thou gavest them to me, and they have kept thy word. Now they have known that all things, whatever thou hast given me, are of thee.
John 6: 37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
John 17: 11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.
John 17: 20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also who shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one, as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us; that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them, that they may be one, even as we are one.
John 17: 2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.
The above verse expresses the Baptism in the name of the Father and of the Son.
1 John 1: 9-10 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us ou sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.
If we are granted the repentance that leads to salvation, He is faithful in providing the gospel of Jesus Christ through the Bible or through other Christians. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar because in the Bible, He clearly says that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. See Romans 3: 23.
2 Peter 3: 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness, but is long-suffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
In this verse Peter is talking about those that are Chosen by God in the past, present, and future. Humanity continues to exist as long as there are still chosen people that need to hear the gospel and be granted the repentance that leads to salvation.
John 6: 39 And this is the Father's will who hath sent me, that of all that he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
John 6: 44 No man can come to me, except the Father, who hath sent me, draw him; and I will raise him up at the last day.
It is the Father that starts the road to salvation. In the above verse, the word "draw" comes from the same Greek word used in Acts 16: 19 And when her masters saw that the hope of their gains was gone, they caught Paul and Silas, and drew (dragged) them into the market place unto the rulers. Obviously, the word does not mean to entice. When the Father grants a person repentance, that repentance is so deep that it touches the heart and soul of the person who then turns to God for forgiveness. That is how the Father draws a person.
Acts 13: 48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord; and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.
Those that were ordained to eternal life and believed were those that were chosen before the world was.
Romans 9: 11-13 ( For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of Him that calleth), It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger. As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.
Jacob was chosen even before he was born. So are we.
2 Thessalonians 2: 13-14 But we are bound to give thanks always to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth, Unto which he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Romans 2: 4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forebearance and long-suffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
2 Cor 7: 10 For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of; but the sorrow of the world worketh death.
2 Timothy 2: 24-25 And the servant of the Lord must not strive, but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose him if God, perhaps, will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth,
Matthew 11: 20 Then began He to upbraid the cities in which most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not;
Ezekiel 36: 25-28 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean; from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you; and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep mine ordinances, and do them.
Here God is talking to the nation of Israel, but what He is going to do to Israel looks pretty similar to what He does to those He chooses.

"the house of Israel" is not referring to the nation of Israel, but has reference to Jacob surnamed Israel Gen 28:33. All Israel is not of Israel, Rom 9:6. The house of Israel is representative of God's elect people, Rom 9:11.

"the house of Israel" is not referring to the nation of Israel, but has reference to Jacob surnamed Israel Gen 28:33. All Israel is not of Israel, Rom 9:6. The house of Israel is representative of God's elect people, Rom 9:11.
Thank you for that insight.

Matt 28: 19 Go ye, therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, ...

The great commission given by Jesus to his apostles was to go out and teach all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father and in the name of the Son, and in the name of the Holy Spirit. Most people and church denominations think that this means one baptism with water in the name of three persons. That is not the case.
Christians have not been misinterpreting these scriptures for these past 2000 years. You are.

People who teach that Baptism in water is no longer commanded eventually get banned from the site. It is a non negotiable fundamental doctrine of Christianity.

Philip and the Ethiopian demonstrates the work of an an Evangelist who is fulfilling the Great Commission. He did not tell the Ethiopian he did not need to be baptized in water and Cornelius house of new believers speaking in tongues were baptized in water.

The Great Commission is not to go out and water baptize. It is not a requirement for either salvation or maintenance of salvation. It is merely an ordinance. Do you practice the Holy Kiss and Foot Washing? Good for you, but it is not the Great Commission. It was good that the Ethiopian desired such thing, but it would be bad if he thought that anything but the Blood of Jesus can cleanse a sinner's sin stained soul.

When I pastor I will offer baptism in water the same day a person get's born again. I plan to try different methods to determine which is most practical and can be easily applied. Something similar to what Peter did in the house of Cornelius which we can only speculate, but I have a few ideas.
People can believe whatever they wish but I believe in baptising in water the same day if possible. It is useful for the person in helping them cross over mentally from what they used to be to identifying their new life in Christ. (Rom 6)
Obviously we have discussed it for years on CC and people have all sorts of strange ideas about it but I think the scripture is perfectly crystal clear and baptism in water was preached by Philip and by Peter and it is impossible to make the New Testament not teach baptism in water. IMPOSSIBLE.

Throughut Israelite history there had always been a remnant that did not go the way of rebellion against God, but lived according to His Word and His will. When John the Baptist came preaching and teaching about baptism, he was calling such a remnant to make a public declaration of their desire to follow God in righteousness and faithfulness. Those who came to be baptized by John publicly declared in front of the entire crowd when they entered the water that they were sinners and part of the corrupt Judaism, but when they came back up out of the water, they no longer identified with the corrupt way of doing things, but were part of the new order of God which would follow and obey Him in righteousness and justice. When Jesus got baptized by John, He was rejecting the corruption that had entered the religious and political spheres of Judais, and was choosing to side with those who sought generosity, honesty, peace, and grace ( the values of the Kingdom of God that John was preaching. Also, during Jesus' time, the Israelites were a conquered people. Throughout their history in the Old Testament, as a nation, bad things happened when they wandered away from worshipping God and good things happened when they repented and changed their ways. John's baptism was a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. They came from all over the area of the Jordan to get baptized by John with the hope that their action would convince God to send them a savior to lead them out of the hands of the Romans. They never heard of Jesus or the Holy Spirit.
Baptism with water was a Jewish ritual of repentance which the early Jewish christians thought everyone had to go through ( just like circumciision). Luke 3: 3 And he came into all the country about the Jordan, preaching he baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. He wasn't preaching a ritual for the remission of sins, but repentance for the remission of sins. The Ethiopian came all the way from Egypt to worship in Jerusalem which means that he was familiar with the Jewish expression of repentance. After Philip explained Jesus to him and probably the need of repentance for salvation, the Ethiopian eunuck declared that He believed in Jesus and wanted to declare his repentance using the Jewish tradition of water baptism. At the time, Philip also believed in expressing repentance through water baptism.
Acts 8: 12 But when they believed Philip preaching the kingdom ofGod, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
They were baptized WHEN they believed, not after they believed.
Acts 19: 3-5 And he said to them, Unto what, then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism. Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people that they should believe on Him who should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
WHEN, not after, they heard about Jesus, they believed and were instantly baptized in the name of Jesus. Being baptized with water was not enough to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. I suppose that all of the people that recieved John's baptism of water and never heard of Jesus never received the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Acts 2: 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized, everyone of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Notice the 3 elements of salvation: 1) Repentance 2) be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ 3) receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Acts 5: 31 Him hath God exalted with His right hand to be a Prince and a Savior, to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.
It is God who gives repentance.
Acts 11: 18 When they heard these things, they held their peace and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.
Repentance is a state of being . When God grants it, you are in that state of being. You cannot refuse it since you are already in that state of being. There are different degrees of repentance as measured by the fruit of repentance, but only the repentance given by God is deep and sincere enough to qualify for repentance unto life.
Acts 9: 12 And hath seen in a vision a man, named Ananias, coming in and putting his hand on him, that he might receive his sight.
Saul was praying when he had this vision. He probably was praying to get his vision ( eyesight) back and maybe he repented of persecuting christians.
Acts 9: 17-18 And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even ( that is) Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou comest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit. And IMMEDIATELY there fell from his eyes as it had been scales; and he received sight, and arose, and was baptized.
When his vision became a reality, he believed in Jesus Christ ( baptized in the name of Jesus) and was filled with the Holy Spirit.
Matt 20: 22 But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are you able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?
Obviously, He is not talking about water baptism.
Luke 3: 3 And he ( John the Baptist) came into all the country about the Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.
John was preaching repentance for the remission of sins, not the ritual of water baptism for the remission of sins.
2 Cor 7:1 Having, therefore, these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
In this verse it is obvious that Paul did not mean a literal cleansing, but a figurative cleansing.
Matt 27: 24 When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this righteous person.
Washing his hands had no effect on his innocense or guilt. It was symbolic of his declaration that he was not to be a participant or responsible for the wrongful act which was to follow.

Just a bunch of vain attempts to make scriptures say something they don't say. Not sure why you are doing it. Probably some new cult you are following. Hyperdispensationalism or some such nonsense.

No one would get these ideas reading the bible on a desert island without any previous knowledge. In other words your interpretations are not natural reading comprehension and it is annoying. Like listening to a Jehovah Witness try to explain the importance of 1948 and the dream of Nebechadnezzer.

Well since you are not qualified biblically speaking to pastor a church I guess it really doesn't matter what position you take. Not that the husband of one wife being taught as a requirement to pastor a church is any impediment to your aspirations. I would love to see what an ordination examination would expose about your true doctrinal beliefs. The influence of DTS and SBC are quite evident. Both of those institutions have questioned Gods word for decades.

One should not receive water baptism without proper teaching of the what, why and how it is to be administered.

I have known more than a few men who waited until they were married to take on a church pastorate. God sometimes makes His child wait before launching into ministry. Many missionaries have waited for some time until God supplied the support money they required to get on the field. All of them in retrospect said they could see Gods hand at work in what they thought was delay when it was for their good in the end.

We ordain single men and married men. We also ordain women. We also speak in tongues. You would probably break out in hives if you attended one of our services.:ROFL:
I am receiving credentials through the Assemblies of God not SBC. Doctrinal Statements and Positional Papers (such as women in ministry) can be found here: (Enjoy)

Decades ago, I so looked forward to getting baptized as scheduled. In the Pacific Ocean, the elder was at the moment of dunking me, when my husband, standing next to me with the pastor, grabbed hold of my other arm, yelled "me too" and went down with me. Taken by surprise, I was thinking "What is he doing?", instead of being in heavenly communication with Jesus as planned! Never feeling complete in the Lord, a few years later, I scheduled another baptism, by myself this time, and it was a glorious event. Praise the Lord!

Agree, water baptism is so very important to our walk.

I don't follow any cult and I am not a hyperdispensationalist. I just follow the bible and use the scriptures to make my points realizing that God has to open the eyes to see and understand. Did you read all of the scriptures that I wrote?

If we look to the history of the church to see what is most effective in spreading the word of the Lord, it was through showing love to each other that brought in the most people to go to the Lord for salvation.

I have read posts that say that when people don't agree with the poster she/he sees them as---and here the post goes into terrible accusations against that person. Most posters just love to speak about their Lord, and love those who will discuss Him, but there are those who express anything but love for each other. It is the opposite of the great commission.

It's a shame how many people think of pastoring as an employment opportunity.
