Here is the 51st Psalm: Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.

2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.

4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.

5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.

6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.

7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

8 Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.

9 Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.

10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.

12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.

14 Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.

15 O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.

16 For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.

17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

18 Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the walls of Jerusalem.

19 Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar.

Gentiles pray this through Christ. How does the Lord answer the Jew who denies Christ? Could it be that because Christ is God, and God gives the Jew special blessings because of the work for the Lord that was assigned to them, that God answers this prayer of theirs?

This Psalm has always been in my heart, especially where it is said that our Father will not turn away a broken heart.

Gentiles pray this through Christ. How does the Lord answer the Jew who denies Christ?
He that denies Christ is not a Jew inwardly...

Romans
2:28 For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither [is that] circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:
2:29 But he [is] a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision [is that] of the heart, in the spirit, [and] not in the letter; whose praise [is] not of men, but of God.

We cannot pray this today . This is before Jesus died for our sins .

It never ceases to amaze me how intimate and familiar some OT men were with God despite not being able to see or read about Jesus.
Absolutely. But some are missing the difference that we are circumcised with a circumcision made without hands ( col 2) Abraham, for example had physical circumcision. He wasn't regenerated ect .

A Jew who denies Christ denies the plan of God in saving their souls

Jesus was sent to them first, then the gentiles

if they deny him, they will not recieve the benefits of this prayer, Jesus said there is one way to the father and that one way is through him

they will not get a special in just because they pray this prayer while rejecting the one who was Sent from god to save them

God gave (past tense) the Jews special blessings. Those who remain as Jews today have rejected Jesus Christ. They are rebels who suppress the knowledge of God in unrighteousness.

Just as it is to every other human being, the door is open for Jews to come to God. Jesus is the Door.

I confess, I have and I do.
Well God s not going to be angry about praying this prayer . My point was we don't pray to not have the Holy Spirit taken away after receiving the Holy Spirit this side of the cross .

What a great Psalm that has brought comfort to many Christians while singing, reading or praying it... Especially when our sin hurts our relationships with others and God. Have mercy....restore my Joy.. Beautiful.

The Psalms are so important for Christians. I love how the even the apostle Paul quotes them a lot even this Psalm!

I pray that any none christian who reads/sings or prays this Psalm will come to see that it is only through Jesus that you will be washed from your sins and made whiter than snow.. He is the final sacrifice that the OT shadowed.

Still with it huh? :)

Study Romans, Chapter 11. And seek guidance from the Holy Spirit. Pay SPECIAL ATTENTION to verse 23, and you will have your answer to what God will say about this prayer.

Romans 11:23 And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be graffed in: for God is able to graff them in again.

.. He is the final sacrifice that the OT shadowed.
That shadow of the old testament worked to save the lives of the saints, as we are told in Matthew telling of the curtain that was split when Christ was crucified and the saints walked the streets of Jerusalem. Could it be that at that time, when the lord blinded the eyes of the Jews to accepting the real Christ, that after this the Jews, who were blind, were punished by being denied eternal life?

If this is so, then we certainly must tremble and be frightened if we do not obey everything the Lord tells us about salvation. Salvation depends on our being forgiven, and scripture tells us that if we don't forgive, it asks us how then we can be forgiven. It tells us we must repent--if we repent of our sins doesn't that also mean that we don't want to sin?

If God tells the Jews no to their prayer for forgiveness, based of their blindness that comes from God, then we all had better toe the line for they are His chosen people.
