The book of Enoch is mentioned in the New Testament, and I believe that it was taught to the Jews equally as much as the other books in the old testament.
Was seriously leaning towards studying it. Any words of wisdom from the audience?

There are 66 inspired books in the canon of scripture, don't consider Enoch as inspired

P.S. just read the quotation of Enoc a few days ago, smiles

Jude 1:14KJV
14 And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,

I personally believe that it sheds much light on many things, especially the flood and those angels who took wives. In addition, the prophecy of Enoch was quoted by Jude:

"Now Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men also, saying, “Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints, to execute judgment on all, to convict all who are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have committed in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.”

I personally have a copy of the Ethiopic Enoch and there is a detailed account of Genesis 6:1-2 regarding the sons of God which are identified as angels in Enoch's version, as described below:

=====================================================
It happened after the sons of men had multiplied in those days, that daughters were born to them, elegant and beautiful. And when the angels, the sons of heaven, beheld them, they became enamored of them, saying each other: Come, let us select for ourselves wives from the progeny of men, and let us beget children.
====================================================

Compare with Genesis 6:1-2

===================================================
Now when men began to multiply on the face of the earth and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful, and they took as wives whomever they chose.
====================================================

The reference in Genesis to 'the daughters of men' makes a distinction between the 'sons of God' as not being human, i.e. not men, other than. Where in Enoch's prophecy, there is not doubt that the sons of God, the sons of heaven, are in fact the angels.

According to Enoch, there were 200 hundred of these angels who descended upon the top of Mount Armon. The lead angel warned them of their intentions, but to no avail. And they even bound themselves with execrations (oaths). After taking wives, the woman the woman conceived and brought for giants (Nephilim) which grew to be 300 cubits tall. After this, these angels, also called watchers, began to teach human beings things that they were not supposed to know, such as sorcery, divination, the dividing of roots, how to make weapons of war, the beautifying of the eye brows (make up), astrology, observing the stars and signs, etc. In addition, since the giants were out of scale with mankind, they could not produce enough food to keep them fed and they began to eat the flesh of everything, even men. This and the corruption that the angels caused was the main reason for the flood. For through them the world had become altered.

I believe that it is these angels/watchers that both Peter and Jude are referring to who were put into Tartartus in chains of darkness until the great white throne judgment - 2 Pet.2:4 & Jude 1:6

Hi Magenta,

Enoch used to be a part of the Bible. The fact that Jude quoted Enoch demonstrates that it is inspired, for God allowed Jude to quote Enoch's prophecy.

Chuck Missler, and his false teachings, in the Nephilim.

The teaching that Angel's procreate with humans is (Greek Mythology)

The Sons Of God were human men, that married human women

Genesis 6:1-6KJV

1 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,
2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
3 And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
5 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
6 And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.

If that is true then the Epimenides words are inspired also (Titus 1:12).

Paul is not saying that all what Epimenides said or wrote was true but that statement was.. Just like Jude quoting a quote from Enoch. It's just as simple as that.

The book of Enoch is not inspired nor a biblical book. It may be entertaining reading as a book of interest but thats it!

The apocrypha is part of some Bibles also, but that does not make any of it inspired.

Well Magenta, you cannot deny that Jude is quoting Enoch, because you can read it for yourself. And if Jude is quoting Enoch, which is apart of God's word, then what Enoch said is the word of God.

"As one of their own prophets has said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.”

I'd have to say that your comparison is terribly unapplicable. Paul was repeating what their the Greeks own prophets HAD SAID, not that it was true. In my example Jude the half brother of Jesus is quoting Enoch, both men of God. That is a terrible comparison that you gave and you know it.

The Apocrypha was never apart of the Bible. Roman considers it to be, but it just history and nothing else. Enoch on the other hand was apart of the Bible up until the 4th century. Why are you guys always so quick to argue about these things. Why don't you do some actual studying. It's like you disagree just for the sake of arguing.

"Enoch, the seventh from Adam also prophesied of these"

You know where prophesies come from? They are God initiated.

Did you read the scripture quote Paul himself said it was true.

12 One of them, a prophet of their own, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.” 13 This testimony is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith,

Just like Jude quoting a quote from Enoch. It's just as simple as that.

It is worth studying, and it does have the passage quoted by Jude, but try not to base Bible doctrine on anything therein. It is an apocryphal book.

There is one class of angels that can take on human form, as Paul tells us when we are told we may be speaking with angels.

You are stating that you have the truth about the spiritual world, but if you are a human you do not have this knowledge.

Angel's dont marry women on this earth and procreate, as the human men, married human women in Genesis 6:1-6

It's a false teaching to claim "Angels" marry or procreate,have sex with human women (Greek Mythology)

Mark 12:18-25KJV

18 Then come unto him the Sadducees, which say there is no resurrection; and they asked him, saying,
19 Master, Moses wrote unto us, If a man's brother die, and leave his wife behind him, and leave no children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
20 Now there were seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and dying left no seed.
21 And the second took her, and died, neither left he any seed: and the third likewise.
22 And the seven had her, and left no seed: last of all the woman died also.
23 In the resurrection therefore, when they shall rise, whose wife shall she be of them? for the seven had her to wife.
24 And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?
25 For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven.

Enoch is not considered inspired. However it is interesting that it was found among the dead sea scrolls.

You also do not need Enoch to conclusively prove that fallen angels mated with human women creating the Nephillim. Plenty in the 66 to prove that.

I also no longer believe it to be a hobby horse issue. Jesus said "as in the days of Noah"... So we better fully understand what exactly went on for God to destroy the world and start again with Noah, and the saved animals.

We have [solid] side by side comparison where the WORD made flesh quoted Enoch around 20 times.
We have solid proof that Jude also factually quotes Enoch.

Of the [Proofs] we have, we can find those Verses in the first Chapters of Enoch (which the later chapters are obviously additions by another writer).

I will say this, the written materials of Enoch and Jasper were out to Believers before the Torah was written.
Why is that important?
Chapter ONE of Enoch was on the scene before Daniel's Vision and at least 4,500 years before John's Revelation Vision. Both Daniel and John verify Chapter One of the Book of Enoch.

I will just toss this out here:
To slam the Roman Catholic Church for the [obvious] atrocities we know committed from the 1st Century to about the time of Luther's rebellion, and then to say the Roman Catholics who chose the 66 Books were of God, is about the [same] IGNORANCE as claiming evolution is the true way to explain the Creation of Adam!

Those are the deuterocanonical books, written during a time when there were no prophets.

Apocrypha means hidden or secret. Enoch was not included in the Hebrew canon.

Nor should it be counted as inspired when it is not.

In fact it is the only book sometimes included which is falsely
attributed to someone who had nothing to do with the writing of it.

Not in the Catholic bible, but in the non-canonical books of the Old Testament. Apocrypha literally means "hidden", but applies to books of dubious authority.
