Nowadays, we need to prepare for shutdowns, grocery stores without food, weather emergencies, power failure, etc. What foods do you have in your emergency pantry/fridge?

I try to stock up for two weeks (single person) with the following. Power failure doesn't last too long, so I still buy some perishables but not a lot.

Pantry
Canned beans/fruits
Canned tuna/salmon
SPAM
Whole Grain Bread
Rice
Pasta
Ramen/Soup Bowls
Chips/Snacks
Seasoning Veggies: Fresh Onions/Garlic/Jalapeno/Chili
Apples
Teas
Water
Peanut Butter

Fridge
Eggs
Almond Milk
Frozen Vegetables
Trader Joe's microwaveable/oven ready meals
Jam

Probably water, water and then more water. Bottled water

Otherwise your choice in non-perishable goods.

Stock up on pet food too if you have pets.

Maybe even a generator that will at least keep the food in your fridge/freezer from spoiling

50lb bag of rice

Solar Powered Generator to run a fridge in the case that there are perishable life saving medical supplies such as insulin.

Generators are a great idea. However, it is not an option for people who live in apartments or townhomes with small backyards.

Right. Which is why I said 'maybe'. Then again, Sig is suggesting a solar powered gen. Sounds like a good idea

The list of emergency supplies can go on and on, but I might add a solar device for recharging your cell phone.

For me it would be any dried foods, raisins, apricots, beans, split peas, etc. Lots of flour, dried packaged yeast. Salt, sugar. Canned goods of al types. UHT milk, at least ai liters in liter containers. Cold supplies including meats frozen, fats for baking, and more. Probably a lot more shelf life items.

I tend to keep mhy larder stocked and rotated all of the time, so no rushing out to buy too much for me..

Actually my buying and storage habits were formed from childhood, and it includes theabove, so I guess I could not change much.

There are a few other staples that I would have as well if we want to turn this into more of a survivalist thread?

Have a disaster kit somewhere handy

If you living in town, or apartments then its knowing your neighbours and who to contact. Your local church will have foodbank or emergency pantry, if it doesnt then find a church that does.

If there is a power failure, you have many foods that need to be cooked. May I suggest a trip to google where there are many lists of suggestions for non perishable foods that are nutritious and don't require cooking ;)

If the power grid goes down, you best not have any fridge foods. They will not keep more than a day or two.
Stick with non perishable. Lots of water and don't forget toilet paper.
And you will need a propane camp stove to cook on.
