and here I was just thinking tonight about a couple previous stories you posted here, and how thought provoking they were and the lessons to be learned from them..........
then I read this and think I'm in one of the comedy threads :LOL:
Well - I guess thoughts can be 'provoked' in different ways...

Well - you know - all of that serious thinking needs a break every-so-often... ;)

It encourages me to know if/that I have added something nice to someone's day.

Did that make it 'quick' sailing...?

How's the passage of time [been] since...?
Well. lets just say all those fairy tales they pumped into me as a young girl were FALSE.......
*GG says this in a mocking sing-song voice*:
"They rode off into the sunset together....... and they lived happily ever after"
:sick::rolleyes::LOL:

in all seriousness, it has not been "quick sailing" as here we are recently celebrating 15 years
and the passage of time has not always been "smooth sailing". In fact, I started my journey on CC at the end of my rope, looking for marriage help. BUT what I will say is this:
dying to oneself is NOT an easy task........
Standing on God's promises and learning to trust Him is not always the easiest thing to do.....
But enduring harships and coming out on top on the other side is so much more rewarding than throwing in the towel, walking away, and creating more problems for life down the road.
God is faithful and is still in the restoration business today.

When my now 7-year-old was about 18 months old, she was in her playpen, in my bedroom. I had to run into the master bathroom and she immediately started screaming and pitching a fit. I knew she could hear my voice, and told her, "Just because you can't see me, it doesn't mean I'm not here. I'll be right there." But she was screaming and raging so loud, she couldn't hear me.

And then it hit me. When I get upset and get so busy yelling about what I want, I can't hear God's voice. But He's not far, He's "just in the other room" and will be out in "just a 'minute'".

Or when my kids want to argue with me because I've said no to something they want. Sometimes I give a reason and sometimes, they just need to trust that I see the bigger picture and there's a REASON for my decision.

As a parent, there are many times my kids act in a way that makes me wonder if I'm acting that way toward God. Times when I wonder if he laughs at my antics like I laugh at my kids'. When He says "no" and I pitch a fit because I don't understand. It's fitting that we're called children of God -- we certainly act like kids!

There was a little boy visiting his grandparents on their farm. He was given a slingshot to play with out in the woods. He practiced in the woods, but he could never hit the target. Getting a little discouraged, he headed back for dinner. As he was walking back he saw Grandma's pet duck.

Just out of impulse, he let the slingshot fly, hit the duck square in the head, and killed it. He was shocked and grieved.

In a panic, he hid its dead body in the wood pile, only to see his sister watching! Sally had seen it all, but she said nothing.

After lunch the next day Grandma said, "Sally, let's wash the dishes." But Sally said, "Grandma, Johnny told me he wanted to help in the kitchen. Then she whispered to him, "Remember the duck?" So Johnny did the dishes.

Later that day, Grandpa asked if the children wanted to go fishing and Grandma said, "I'm sorry but I need Sally to help make supper." Sally just smiled and said," Well that's all right because Johnny told me he wanted to help." She whispered again, "Remember the duck?" So Sally went fishing and Johnny stayed to help.

After several days of Johnny doing both his chores and Sally's... he finally couldn't stand it any longer.

He came to Grandma and confessed that he had killed the duck. Grandma knelt down, gave him a hug, and said, "Sweetheart, I know. You see, I was standing at the window and I saw the whole thing, but because I love you, I forgave you. I was just wondering how long you would let Sally make a slave of you."

There was a chemistry professor in a large college that had some exchange students in the class.

One day while the class was in the lab, the professor noticed one young man, an exchange student, who kept rubbing his back and stretching as if his back hurt.

The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting Communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his country's government and install a new communist regime.

In the midst of his story, he looked at the professor and asked a strange question. He asked: "Do you know how to catch wild pigs?"

The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line.

The young man said that it was no joke. "You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come every day to eat the free food.

When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence.

They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in the last side.

The pigs, which are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat that free corn again. You then slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd.

Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity."

The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he sees happening in America & Canada. The government keeps pushing us toward Communism/Socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tax exemptions, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare entitlements, medicine, drugs, etc., while we continually lose our freedoms, just a little at a time.

A Few Nights In Hospital

Have I told you about this one time I had to spend a few nights in hospital?

It happened a couple of years ago, I got sick and landed up in hospital.

There was this one nurse there that that just drove me crazy. She was young and pretty, but every time she came in, she would talk to me like I was a little child. She would say everything in a patronizing tone of voice, like “and how are we doing this morning?”, or “are we ready for a bath?” or “are we hungry?”.

Well, after a few nights in hospital and being talked to like this, it was really getting to me, as you might well imagine. I had had enough of this particular nurse, pretty though she might be and I decided it was time to play a trick on her.

So, one morning at breakfast, I took the apple juice off the tray and hid it in my bedside stand.

Later that morning, I was given a urine sample bottle to fill for testing, so you can probably guess where the apple juice went!

The nurse came in a while later, picked up the urine sample bottle, looked at it and said, “Oh my Mr Johnson, it seems we are a little cloudy today”.

As soon as she said this, I snatched the bottle out of her hand, popped off the top and gulped it down, saying, “Well, I’ll run it through again. Maybe I can filter it better this time!”

The nurse fainted and I just sat up in bed smiling.

Just don’t mess with old people.
