Acts 1 8 is the anointing ministry of the HS.

it is NOT the baptism ministry

they are 2 seperate events,

the Hs can not come in you until you are cleansed, the baptism (cleansing) comes first
The truth is, many in the Old Testament were anointed by the Holy Spirit and they were not "born again." But God had to anoint them to fulfill the tasks He had given them.

The disciples were the first to be born again, when Jesus breathed on them and said, "receive the Holy Spirit." This came DAYS before the day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit came upon them.

The truth is, we are cleansed when we are born again. We receive the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. No one will never be more righteous than the moment they are born again. How can anyone be more righteous that Jesus?

The baptism of the Holy Spirit is for power to witness. Plain and simple.

If you want to know the difference. Ask the Lord to baptize you in the Holy Spirit and lift up your hands in expectation. Do this everyday until it happens. Then you will know.
Know how to fake it.

You cannot reach a correct conclusion with incorrect terminology.

You can stand in the garage and make car sounds with all the expectation you have but you will never become a car.

When you read all of the accounts in the book of Acts you see that they were saved before they were baptized in the Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues.

The baptism of the Holy Spirit (like the day of Pentecost) was to receive power to be a witness not forgiveness of sins.

There is a justification by faith that occurs and a work of regeneration by the Holy Spirit that happens first. Then the baptism of the Holy Spirit is to receive power to be a witness. Power for ministry.

There is a big difference between the preaching ministry of those who are baptized in the Holy Spirit and those who don't believe in this. Many reformed preachers have good rhetoric and intellectual preaching skills but this will never substitute for the baptism of the Holy Spirit empowered preaching ministry which will cut to the heart and produce results like Peter on the day of Pentecost. It is not something you can produce with words alone, but must be done with the POWER of God.
Baloney sandwich with deception and untruth.

The word of God goes forth and accomplishes what God intends for it to accomplish.

Isa 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

Why is it so difficult to just believe Luke?

Acts 1:8
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Note: WE did not write this: Luke did. He explains the purpose of this baptism.
by the way, no baloney! :)

The untold millions around the world that received the Holy Spirit baptism AFTER they were born again know the truth. It seems you are in denial. If I were you, I would WANT this gift, not fight against it! Why would anyone fight against a gift of God? Do you not WANT power to witness? Do you want to go through life without a supernatural language from the Holy Spirit that the devil cannot understand? Paul makes it clear that all in the church should be able to pray and sing in the spirit.

Wrong

the anointing is the holly spirit being poured on or into a person

when Jesus was baptized, the spirit descended like a dove coming into (anointing) him

even the OT priesthood had a type. Aaron and his sons were washed (baptized) then anointed with the oil

there is no water in Romans 6, the death and burial of christ are what were baptized into not water.
Romans 6 is about the meaning of water baptism.

the truth is Arron’s sons (the priests) where washed (baptized) before they were anointed

the truth is Jesus was washed (baptized) before he was anointed

the truth is, unless you are washed, your still dead in your sin. So apart from spiritual baptism you can not be justified. Without justification will not be anointed, with out the Hs coming into you, you have no power

again paul in colossians 2 spoke of the spiritual circumcision done by the hand of god through the baptism which was by the one who rose Jesus fro the dead

this is spiritual baptism

baptism means to be immersed, to be plunged or placed into something, and when something was baptized in Ancient Greek, it changed, that is what baptism into Christ, Hs death and his body does, it changes us,

it does not empower us, we are empowered by the Hs coming into us, that is where our gifting comes from. Not from some mystical baptism

No

romans 6 is about us being baptized into the death and burial of Christ, not being baptized in water

whoever decided this lie that baptism MUST include water does not understand what the word means.

i am baptized in water

i am baptized into christ

i am baptized into his death amd baptized into his burial

i am baptized into his body

now, instead of transliteration the word Baptizo, let’s actaully translate it

i am immersed into water

i am immersed into christ

i am immersed into his death and burial

i am immersed into his body

we see, if the translators translated the word correctly Instead of transliteration it, how we would never even think of water in those verses. We only think because we have taken an action word and made a religious symbol of it where it was never intended to be, it was an action taken on believers,

All Christians were baptized in water at the time Paul taught this. They all knew he was explaining the spiritual truths behind the baptism in water which was a baptism of repentance toward God and faith in Jesus Christ. I don't believe they thought there was anything magical about it but they knew that Paul was talking about the symbolism of buried with him in baptism as they had all been immersed into water when they were baptized. And all did come out of the water as a symbol of raised to newness of Life identifying with the Resurrection of Christ. These verses are used by most evangelicals who baptize people in water. I don't know why you would suggest they don't apply. Maybe it was taught to you by the popular hyperdispensationalist teachers or some other new branch making its way around the internet.

Yes, even though Paul baptized no one

i am not against baptism in water, God told us to go and make disciples and baptize them

however, if they are not a Holy Spirit baptized child of God then their water baptism is meaningless,

look up the Greek historical word baptizo, you will not find what is taught in so many churches who want to take credit away from God and put it to the work f man today.

I am well aware of the origins of the word baptized in the KJV and yes we know it means immersion but in the context of the Christian religion there was AN IMMERSION that was a BAPTISM made famous by John the Baptist and then carried on by the church in the Name of Jesus and that was not ever deprecated or done away with under and new dispensation.

You have made a misstatement that Paul baptized no one. He most certainly did. When writing to the Corinthians who were divided over their favorite teachers he told them that he had only baptized a few there that he remembered. And he named who they were. 1 Cor 1:14-16) This is a far cry from " he baptized no one" So you either are ignorant of this topic or deliberately are attempting to mislead. I think you are probably just ignorant. When Paul said he was not called to baptized (after naming a few that he had baptized) we all understand that means that he left it to others to do the baptizing while he focused on preaching. Which makes sense because he was an Apostle and would try to avoid people like the Corinthians taking pride in being baptized by the Apostle as if it meant more.

Further light on Paul’s doctrine of baptism is provided in 1 Corinthians 10:2, where all the Israelites who left Egypt are said to have been ‘baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea’. Baptism thus seals the believer’s exodus, his deliverance from the bondage of sin and his entry into a new life of freedom.

Bruce, F. F.. Romans (Tyndale New Testament Commentaries) (p. 141). InterVarsity Press.

And I agree that they must be saved before they are baptized in water. Which is why Paul said what he did in Romans 6. It is a confession of faith. The water baptism is a confession of what we believe about Jesus and how we identify with it. But to say that Paul was not talking about the symbolism of water baptism is to misunderstand Rom 6.

The disciples were probably baptized in Acts 2 when they received the mighty baptism in the Holy Spirit, but the scripture really does not say.

Look, this is not difficult:
When someone is baptized into water, they take on the characteristic of water: they get WET.
When someone is baptized into the Holy Spirit, they get the characteristic of the Holy Spirit: they get POWER.
Don't take my word for it, RESEARCH! Study Acts 8 and Acts 19 and you will discover they were already born again and baptized in water when they received the Holy Spirit.

I was born again when I was seven. But like those Ephesians Paul met, I had never heard of a baptism in the Holy Spirit. When I was 20, I visited an Assembly of God church. I instantly knew they had something I had never known before. It was the anointing. Do to 20 years of false doctrine, it took me perhaps a month to receive the Holy Spirit, but I did. I would NEVER want to go back to before this baptism. My life changed. I had POWER to witness that I never had before.

After receiving I was sad that it took me until 20. Why didn't my church (Wesleyan) teach it? Simply because they knew nothing about it.

All that is great, and people SHOULD have all these things. But WHY are you not baptized in the Holy Spirit? It is available for all who are born again. Can you ask other believers what Paul asked: "Have you received the Holy Spirit since you believed?"

Would you not WANT any gift God wants to give you?

Show us a scripture that says what you say: that Acts is a transitional book. It is a part of Scripture, and therefore is usable for Doctrine according to Paul.

Now, since you asked:
First, let's ask the question: when would Philip baptize people in water?
Acts 8:
36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?

37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.

I think we can say that Philip would not baptize people in water UNTIL he was SURE they believed in Jesus.

Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.

6 And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.
[if they are giving heed, are they believing? I think that goes without saying.]
7 For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed.

8 And there was great joy in that city. [why great joy? I think this hints that they all were born again.]

12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. [We already established that Philip would not baptize unless he was SURE they were truely believers.]

14 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: [Now we get a look at what those in Jerusalem were THINKING: why send more people? Was Philip not able to pray for the baptism of the Holy Spirit? Aparently those in Jerusalem did not think so. Philip had proven he could get people born again, but Peter and John apparently had proven they could get people filled with the Holy Spirit.

15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: [here the actual prayer took place.]

16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) [Notice this is not talking about the Holy Spirit within as in salvation: they were already saved and baptized in water. This is talking about the Holy Spirit UPON as in the anointing for power.]

17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost. [Notice that nowhere in scripture is the laying on of hands required for salvation. Only hearing the word and believing is required for salvation. But for the baptism, it was usual to lay on hands as they prayed. ]

We find this same sequence in Acts 19.

Did you not read? Acts 11:
15 And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning.
16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.
17 Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?

God was proving that there was NO DIFFERENCE between Jew or Gentile: both could receive salvation by faith and then receive the Holy Spirit.

Why worry about "transitions?" Just read the text and believe it! Way back in Joel God promised the day would come when the Holy Spirit would be poured out on all flesh - and Peter told us that prophecy began to be fulfilled at Pentecost, and is still ongoing.

The truth is, we will be judged by Paul's gospel. He has written in out in 1 Cor. 15: the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ is the basis for Paul's gospel. But when we read 1 Cor, 12 and 14, we see that Pentecost and the baptism of the Holy Spirit was also very much a part of His gospel.

I wonder: could YOU as a fellow believer what Paul asked those in Ephesus: "have you received the Holy Spirit since you believed?"

If not, they your believing is not what Paul believed.
Its self evident when you read the book of acts that its transitional . It couldn't be more obvious. Unless your following a paradigm and then imposing that onto the book .

I wonder: could YOU as a fellow believer what Paul asked those in Ephesus: "have you received the Holy Spirit since you believed?"

If not, they your believing is not what Paul believed.
Your missing the whole point of the transitions that are taking place . The samaratians were 'outside 'so to speak . Jesus had earlier told the diciples to not go to the Gentiles or the samaratians .
Mat 10
5¶These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:

6But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

7And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.

8Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

So when Philip is doing so ,its a big deal . ( transition ) God is now transitioning to the Samaritans , after Israel finally rejects their messiah in Acts 7 with the stoning of Stephen.
The laying on of hands is about apostolic authority to confirm.

Yes, there is a christian baptism

there is also a spiritual baptism performed by God

i was immersed in Christ, I was not dipped into Christ, I was not sprinkled into Christ, I was immersed into Christ, which is why the word Baptizo was used, to make a point, that we are complete in christ, it is a done deal.we were not partially put into him, but completely, like the children of isreal were put into moses in the cloud and the sea.

the church has perverted the word baptize and made it something it is not

there is a baptism in water, I was baptized in water 2 years after I was born again. But if I was not baptized in the spirit, all I did was get wet. I am still lost.

you may know the churches defenition, but you do not know historical Greeks defenition

What you are doing is trying to change The meaning of baptism, and the meaning of anointing

the priest got his power when he was anointed with the oil, (he had the oil poured on his head). Not when he was washed (baptized) in the Jordan river.

if he was just washed (baptized) he was nothing yet, the ceremony of sacrifice had to occur then the anointing had to occure, the final act gave him power

baptizing in water is an act taking a stand and co fessing to the world what you have received from God, it is also a teaching tool, where you show those who may not know Gd what God is offering them if they arepent and come to faith, how God will baptize them into death and burial, that in the future they will be raised,

both of you keep totally ignoring the verses I give you, how do you expect to have a conversaion if all you do is give me your viewpoint and refuse to look at the word?

if you have not yet been baptized in the spirit, yu are still lost. Because you are not yet in Christ, only God can spiritually circumcise your flesh making you white as snow through the baptism of the spirit,

This is not a baptism but a filling of the holy Spirit. It is a stirring up of that which is already resident in the believer.

If you do not know the difference between filling and baptism you cannot reach the correct conclusion. This is the error of the Pentecostal charismatic folks. Poor to nonexistent discipleship.

That is not biblical order and as such is a false teaching.

You make assumptions that are wholly without foundation. You have no idea of how I am or have been used of God in witnessing the glory of God.
