I disagree with this, for in the old testament is a shadow of Christ, all we read there are shadows of Christ. The spirit of the Lord was in the ark in the inner chamber and once a year the sacrificial system (a shadow of Christ that Christ fulfilled) took the blood God had shed for the forgiveness of sin and through that blood they were forgiven. In Matthews we are told those forgiven saints walked the streets of Jerusalem, they did not die in their sins.

We are to look to the old testament to better understand the new testament that Christ fulfilled and perfected.
well brother here is exacrlt
In scripture what I meant the giving of the Old Testament

“And thou shalt set bounds unto the people round about, saying, Take heed to yourselves, that ye go not up into the mount, or touch the border of it: whosoever toucheth the mount shall be surely put to death: There shall not an hand touch it, but he shall surely be stoned, or shot through; whether it be beast or man, it shall not live: when the trumpet soundeth long, they shall come up to the mount.

And Moses said unto the Lord, The people cannot come up to mount Sinai: for thou chargedst us, saying, Set bounds about the mount, and sanctify it. And the Lord said unto him, Away, get thee down, and thou shalt come up, thou, and Aaron with thee: but let not the priests and the people break through to come up unto the Lord, lest he break forth upon them. So Moses went down unto the people, and spake unto them.”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭19:12-13, 23-25‬ ‭

they were kept away on purpose so they couldn’t see God in truth they would have died because thier sins had the. Seperated from him

when the New Testament comes its the opposite Jesus came and sat on the mount and said everyone come to me hear and you will live come close and hold on right to me or you won’t survive

the New Testament invites us into the light in order to be reproved and made right where as the ot kept them outside the veil with God hidden inside where no one was allowed to enter in only the priest once a year with blood

always God was hidden in the ot on a cloud or in the temple behind the veil Christ took the veil away and stepped out of the inner room to reveal God To us

because we receive remission of sins in baptism , we are allowed them to approach God and not stay away it’s a new and living testament we have in Christ that invites us to know God the father

“Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin. Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; And having an high priest over the house of God; Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭10:18-24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

they were told keep away or you will die because of thier sins being present with them , but we are called to come as close as possible to Jesus and believe what he said and promised life

because of this perspective they had of God looking through the veil of the law they rejected Christ not knowing him not able to see past the righteousness of the law and accept faith if we look to the wrong testament still it blonds is to salvation because we need faith

I love hearing and seeing the obvious zeal for obedience in you it’s wonderful . But what can you learn from this parable pertaining to how someone is saved if anything ? etc etc]

I wonder why you equate obedience with the law. Our Lord Jesus Christ was OBEDIENT unto death. And study Acts 5:32.

I think the whole problem lies with the toxic atmosphere of the religious world around you. Somehow evangelicals in the Western world have created a 'rift' between faith and obedience. Faith in the Bible is a very strong word; it does not have the shallow meaning that Westerners give it. It is not mere theoretical belief. (Even the demons believe!) Faith is commitment, faith is courage, faith is linked to humility, faith and repentance go together, faith without works is dead, faith is the 'reckoning of faith' ('to reckon' is faith in action!), faith purifies. faith triumphs; faith that does not lead to surrender is a shallow Westernized concept called 'easy believism'. Faith is the 'obedience of faith', a term twice used in Romans. And please read Andrew Murray's School of Obedience; it will open up your mind to the precious truths found in God's Word.

And, as an aside, - you talk about the sinful woman in Luke 7. Do you think she worshipped the Lord as a 'sinner needing salvation'? Do you think that she was saved only after the Lord's words in Luke 7.47, 48 ? Do you know what the Lord actually said there? Meditate more deeply on the passage in Luke 7.

Let us understand this in practical terms. We can debate the Bible in theoretical ways, but the Bible is to be lived in our practical, daily life. Some questions here:
1. Am I spending more time on the Internet, on social networking sites, FB, Twitter, Instagram, chatrooms, etc - than I am spending with God?
2. How do I spend time with God? Quiet Time (early morning devotions); Family Prayer; meditating on the Bible; prayer alone, and with others; etc.
3. Am I obeying God? It's good to read, meditate, etc - but am I obeying God's Word? Am I helping others in need (financially, etc), counselling, comforting, interceding for them?
4. Am I living a pure life (in thought, word & deed)?
5. Do I have a tendency to boast, take pride in myself & my achievements? Or am I repentant, humble, broken, and willing to confess my failures to God? Am I willing to say Sorry to those I've offended? Do I have a tendency to point out faults and flaws in others, instead of following the dictum: 'Love covers all'.
6. Have I turned my back on the world? Or is the world taking up too much of my time and my life? Am I convinced that this is a perishing world?
7. Do I look forward to Christ's coming? Am I ready for His coming? Or are there still many 'unfinished tasks & goals' in my life?
8. Do I give glory to God in all things? (Am willing to hide myself so that others more deserving can be seen, and that God may get the glory?)

We need to do some serious soul-searching in this respect. The above questions have to do with 'mortifying the deeds of the flesh'.
"Be killing sin, or sin will be killing you." John Owen, 1658 circa.
Theese set of Questions sound like to much fault finding towards somebodies elses walk. and not there own

I dont understand most of the Questions and why should i feel bad for spending to much time on the internet ?

Surely i can still be focused on God and go on the internet chat rooms,

A lot of theese Questions need to be done by The spirit and should be because we cant and shouldnt take this all on for ourselfs.

The spirit convicts the heart and i cant read any of theese questions with out feeling conviction. Ther type of conviction i speak about isnt a bad one, more like i wish i could do all in theese questions if it helps my walk and im sorry if i havent.
But theese are all random Questions we would probably do over a period of time when the call is needed, and not all at once.

It sounds like like Your making it sound as if,,, if where not doing all theese things or doing theese things then where not born again which i hope your not. This is a dangerous way of thinking if you are, Which is bordering on sinless perfection which we can never achieve.
Why are you posting this what is the point because i dont get it

3. Am I obeying God? It's good to read, meditate, etc - but am I obeying God's Word? Am I helping others in need (financially, etc), counselling, comforting, interceding for them?

Like this question above it is the holy spirit that interceds not i And we cant be called to do all theese things.

I really dont like this line of questioning in the context it is being asked

It sounds like your saying that born again christians must reach perfection.

As allways may the lord bless you and keep you

De-emerald, thank you for responding the way you did. You are honest in your reactions.

No, I am not talking about 'sinless perfection'. But I think that self-examination questionnaire tells me where I stand, and I realize my spiritual shortcomings. I need to keep focused on OBEYING THE LORD THROUGH HIS GRACE. I am glad I am out of Facebook, which was a horrible addiction for some years. This was written 6 years ago, but you can read it and laugh (not cry): https://tebeth.wordpress.com/2015/06/15/why-facebook-should-be-called-fakebook/
:mad:o_O:love::LOL:

However, this will make you laugh:D:D:D:
https://tebeth.wordpress.com/2021/03/11/goodbye-fakebook-2/

I am trying to cut down my time on Twitter (where I promote my blog), because I find most Twitter Christians to be superficial.

We are meant to be serious Christians, seeking the Lord with a WHOLE HEART! Jeremiah 29.13. Anything short of a 'whole heart' will mean Failure!

I fully understand your response. The questions will seem offensive to many Western Christians, who live in a toxic atmosphere of shallow and spurious evangelicalism.

Be blessed, Num 6:24-26!

because of your position it’s not coming from faith so that’s why I mentioned the law it’s not of faith but it requires obedience like I’m hearing you talk about

“But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.

And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭3:11-

I mention the law because that’s how you are looking at the gospel as if it’s not of faith and is based upon your own performance that can’t save us no matter how hard we try that form of obedience.

my point to you is that the gospel is of faith it brings obedience when we believe him , the law is speaking to imperfect people demanding perfection without enabling them by faith to perform the things required .

listen I’m not against obedience , it’s required that we repent and begin hearing and walking in the word of Jesus . But there’s an order we have to strip away ourselves and come to him as children learning life for the first time

so when you talk about obedience what is it that you think Jesus commanded us to run out and do ? All He actually taught us was the truth to correct satans lie in Eden

Jesus teaches us to love our lives in a decent and respectful way towards other people . He teaches us to have compassion on the poor in our little world Who we encounter as we go through this world he teaches us to care for each other to help each other when one is In Need , to share our provisions , to forgive when someone sins against us ect

what is it that you are saying Christians need to hurry up and do ? For example what are three things we need to obey that you are talking about ?

what I hear in the gospel is a way to think correctly about God so as we go through life we know to choose the good that is there and turn away from thy bad that comes along

I’m honestly not sure what you are saying Christians are commanded to go do it seems like treating other people as Christ taught us is the way. Obedience should be part of who God is
Making us to be in our new life as his children and let our light shine as we live our normal
Daily lives were meant to live the fowpel
Out so things like this should be our framework of faith if we want to claim
Our own obedience we need to examine ourselves by this word

Obedience is to look into and walk in this spirit form one example

“Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:

But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also.

And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.

Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven:

for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:38-45‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Do you See at all My point it’s not a commandment to run out and fulfill a rule list or begin hard physical labor it’s about believing into righteousness and letting faith change who we are so we can just walk out our life in Christ

if we look at the gospel , you will see that it’s a goal set before us a spirit to adopt so it is active and applicable to every situation we encounter in our lives as we go through this world it’s a belief Jesus taught a faith

“Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.

The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.

And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.

I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other:

for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭18:10-14‬ ‭

“The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭51:17‬ ‭

“Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment,

And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.

Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner.

And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on.

There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty. And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most?

Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged.

And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head.

Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet.

My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment. Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.

And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven.

And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.”

‭‭Luke‬ ‭7:37-48,

When we get real with Gis and acknowledge our sins as they actually are it breaks our heart looking at our own self , but it brings us to our knees before the lord which is where we need to go to be saved

acknowledgement of our sins brings sorrow , but there is comfort in him . Acknowledgement of our inability to meet Gods standard hurts our pride of life , but it humbled us before the lord Jesus which is where we need to be to be saved once we bring our sins and imperfections into his light , and don’t hide them he saves us

I'm starting to find his op's toxic. he seems to think he is God's little helper

I have had people in life that want to pull out a litmus test to see if you are a Christian or not and that is what he is doing even though he denies it

many people struggle in their walk with Christ and that does not mean they are not saved or that God has disowned them

please do not let his spirit have an effect on you. I know full well what scripture states regarding how we are to live and the state of our hearts. I don't think anyone will measure up this dude's fiery hoop except possibly himself

Amen we definitely need to turn our own judgement on our self and not others either way we judge it

Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations. For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs. Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.

Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.

One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.

He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it.

He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.

For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself. For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's. For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.

But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way.”

yeah im not sure what his game is but he does seem to have some hiden agenda here, and im concerned about his comments in this thread and others.

The enemy is at work here for sure, ive seen it all befor, its the enemy that fault finds in other people whilst claiming sinless perfection.
Or the enemy would try to make you prove your a better christian than he his for being sinless, or more obediant because you do x y and they dont.

Jesus said he who is without sin cast the first stone and nobody did.

yes I got that from your post , I think it’s important that we know that what we know is what we ourselves are accountable for and not the other guy they are held accountable for what they know and not me .

I sort of understand the approach and why they appear like they do , it’s because in her heart right now Godbhas opened her eyes to the importance of obeying the lord d not just talking about it anymore . So what’s happening is some light is shining out of her in a forum where obviously you aren’t in that particular place to hear about what’s in her heart now , but others may need to hear out how important obedience is

we’re all at a different stage that’s why the Bible makes so
Many points so we can grow up as we receive the light and living water in the gospel but it’s between you and Jesus no one else can make or break us is the point I took out of your post

one of the things I love about the gospel is that it takes away every other sinners judgement over my life and my soul , and gives it to the one who willingly died so I can turn and believe and be saved

Jesus is who we should want to be the judge because it’s him that loves us and isn’t willing for us to perish

It is good to have a tested questionnaire like that. May God Guide your steps in the walk of humility and obedience.

Ok ive answered this Questionaire in full for you.
Now if you cant see that this questionare is wrong in so many ways then you should
meditate more.

1. Am I spending more time on the Internet, on social networking sites, FB, Twitter, Instagram, chatrooms, etc - than I am spending with God?

For christians we have God with us no matter where we Go

2. How do I spend time with God? Quiet Time (early morning devotions); Family Prayer; meditating on the Bible; prayer alone, and with others; etc.

God reaches people in diffrent ways. We can recieve prayer from God as well as Give prayer. We can meditate All day long with the peace in our heart and keeping our body healthy helps to relax and breath. We can meditate on Gods word in the bible too anytime we want and meditate on his word in mind and thought and prayer.

3. Am I obeying God? It's good to read, meditate, etc - but am I obeying God's Word? Am I helping others in need (financially, etc), counselling, comforting, interceding for them?

There are many ways to be obediant to God But if a christian is not helping somebody else financially it does not mean they are disobeying God. as for comforting, this is given
gift that christians would do automatically its a fruit of the spirit.
As for counselling and interceding, this would be Gods calling as where not all called to minister
4. Am I living a pure life (in thought, word & deed)?

Again tell me a christian that doesnt ?

Christians know its a sin to boast in the wrong way as the holy spirit convicts us but we can boast that Jesus christ loves us and Jesus chrsit bring us peace.
Christian should take pride in them selfs and christian do keep them selfs clean and healthy. Theres different types of prides and this questionaire speaks about does not apply to christians more like the enemy..
Christians know not being sorry and fault finding in others is a sin and again the holy spirit would convict us of that.

6. Have I turned my back on the world? Or is the world taking up too much of my time and my life? Am I convinced that this is a perishing world?

Christians do not need take up the problems of the world for them selfs That is for us to Give to God

7. Do I look forward to Christ's coming? Am I ready for His coming? Or are there still many 'unfinished tasks & goals' in my life?

Again What christian would not look forward to this as this is also a given.
There is always tasks and goals to do as a chrsitian we keep a stronghold for the lord each day and stay on the watch tower. There is no empty goals in a christians life. As we have the holy spirit and a purpose for living.

8. Do I give glory to God in all things? (Am willing to hide myself so that others more deserving can be seen, and that God may get the glory?)

Again this does not mean a christian is disobediant if they fail to give all glory to God in there daily walk and again if a christian may fall short in this, it would be the holy spirit that convicts us and not a person. Also God builds the heart up, one of the gifts is sharing and no christian is more deserving than the other as we are all one family.
